Prologue

Far off the shores of Allumar a single ship with blue sails, continues its journey. At the helm stand two men. Atla Riveren (At-La River-Ren) and his first mate Yaldeer (Yal-deer). Atla was a rather normal sized half elf at 5 foot tall yet his first mate Yaldeer the Dragonkin was almost twice his size.

Atla dawned a orange shirt and a black and red trimmed Kama over black pants. He had leather gloves with metal braces and boots. Strapped to his right shoulder was a red fur trimmed pauldron. On his hip was a dagger and whip. His black hair was short and trimmed while his Forrest green eyes looked out in confidence.

On his left shoulder lay the flat side of the long blade to his sword which he carried with his left hand. It had a bronze hilt and a titanium blade. The blades width the same side as his head and was 4 an a half foot long. It was extraordinary heavy yet Atla hardly noticed. The crew and others he'd met on his adventures would always wonder how the man had gotten so strong. The only one who could lift the sword alone aside from Atla as far as they knew as Yaldeer.

Yaldeer was an interesting Dragonkin. His scales were a orangish red with bronze like accents and his left eye much like a blazing fire. His right eye however was scarred with a cut and replaced with a blue glass eye. He wore a leather top with an armored neck piece and shoulder guards. His clawed feet were bare on the wet wooden deck. In his right hand was a large red, gold, and bronze Dragonsteel shield which also acted as a sheath for his sword of the same metal. He had his reptilian tail rapped around his waist like a belt holding on to a Katar ready for use if needed.

"I must say Atla, I am quite worried as to what awaits us on the Willowed Isle." Yaldeer says looking down to the light skinned half elf. "Those are called Cursed Shore's for a reason."

Atla sighs. "I know Yaldeer. I don't like it either," The half elf admits. "But Allumar needs the Jewel Of Ortega Khan. With it Allumar will be safe for generations."

Yaldeer nods in agreement but holds a look of worry. "I suppose your right."

Atla frowns upon something. Looking off to his left where his eyes had caught something he sees a group of shark fins on the surface of the water. They turn right, going under the ship. Atla follows over to the right side watching as they resurfaced and began swimming swiftly to a ship Atla swore wasn't there moments ago.

"Who are they?" Atla wonders aloud. Then he looks to the the figurehead of a shark causing his eyes to widened. "All hands to battle stations!" Quickly the crew follows his orders as Yaldeer looks over in shock and worry.

"What is it Atla?! What do you see?!" The Dragonkin asks.

"It's The Shadowed Horror." Atla states. Atla then uses a spell to summon a piece of paper and another to burn a message onto it. He then rolls it up before giving out a whistle. Up on the mast an eagle responds flying down landing on his shoulder. "To Calstan." Atla says to the eagle and it nods flying up and grabbing the rolled up parchment before flying away.

Yaldeer has seen this and decided to ask. "Do you think he'll get it in time?"

"He might." Atla sighs. "With any luck he'll get that Jewel in time. For now we need to buy him as much time as we can."

Yaldeer looks to him. "This is a one way trip. Are you sure your ready for that?"

"We don't have much choice." Atla says. "If that ship gets the Jewel, Allumar will be destroyed. You know just as much as I do that Karver won't stop till the kingdom is in ruins."

Yaldeer closes his eyes in fear. "May the Gods have mercy on us."
