Chapter 29: When did this all start?

Mrs. Lorenzo was shocked to her marrows. She stood there thunderstruck. She just couldn't believe her eyes. What was she doing here? Wasn't she dead? Oh goodness!!

Ariel found the woman's eyes on her a bit off so she looked at her slightly before she took the old man away. She didn't want to stay here anymore. She arrived at the place where her car was parked and turned to the man.

"Grandpa, are you alone? If you're, let me take you home ", she offered. The old man was so pleased with the young lady's attitude. He couldn't help but want to bring her home immediately for his grandson. He actually had a purpose of coming out to the market place. He wanted to see if there was someone who could get his attention. And it worked out. Two people got his attention. This young lady and that shrewd woman from earlier.

"No, I'm not".

Ariel nodded. "Then, I'll stay with you till your companion comes. I can't let you stay on your own".

The old man was so touched. His old heart melted into puddles. But he couldn't let her wait with him. His bodyguard might create a scene and scare her away.

"There's really no need for you to stay with me. I'll be fine by myself ".

Ariel looked at him for a while. She opened her car door and took out a note. She took the man's hand and gently placed the note in his old hands." Here, call me. If someone makes you uncomfortable, you can just call me. Ariel is the name", she said with a smile.

The old man nodded." Thank you so much dear. You've really tried for me".

Ariel smiled and boarded her car and left.

The old man stood there with a deep smile. His evening has been made. Throughout his life, he didn't know if he had ever felt so happy. She was such an angel! He needed to make her his granddaughter-in-law. He had to!.

His bodyguard arrived soon and they boarded the car to leave the area. While they were in the car, he said "Find out everything about her. And also the shrew from earlier". The bodyguard bowed slightly and accepted the mission.

Ariel arrived at her place and stocked up her fridge and freezer. She picked out the ingredients and began cooking. Within some minutes, she was done. It was noodles so she didn't take much time. She set the table and looked at it for a while. She shook her head and sat down. She didn't want to think about sad things now. She just needed to celebrate her first victory.

She took the fork and was just about to scoop some into her mouth when the bell rang. She furrowed her brows and went to open the door. She wasn't expecting anyone so, who was it?

Rex left the boardroom after the five hours meeting came to an end. He signed some files in his office and gave various instructions to the sections at the Consortium. By the time he got off work it was already evening. He left the company for the Dragon area. When he arrived,he walked straight to her apartment. He didn't understand why he couldn't bear not seeing for some hours. When did all this start? When did he become like this?

Jim was surprised when he saw his boss taking the right route which led to Ariel's apartment. Why? "Boss..."

"Get me some clothes".

Jim snapped his mouth shut. He couldn't believe his ears and eyes. His boss... was really smitten.

Rex stood tall in his brown overcoat that draped over his black tuxedo. He exuded power and might as he stood there. His aura was so overbearing. Ariel raised her brow to the side.

"Aren't you gonna let me in?"
