14 Confession

"Let me go Caleb! Where are you even taking me?!" Samantha continued to complain but Caleb didn't mind her and just continued to drag her.

Caleb actually didn't know why he did what he did. He just dragged her suddenly. He wanted both of them to have a time together, them alone.

"Caleb!" Samantha shouted due to frustration. She was so annoyed at Caleb right now.

Caleb let her go, "I'm sorry," he said.

"I really don't understand you Caleb! Why are you doing this!? Why did you kiss me?" she shouted at him.

"It's because I like you Samantha! I've told you this a hundred times already, why can't you understand it?" he answered her, frustrated.

Samantha chuckled, "You really expect me to believe you?" she looked at him mockingly.

"I really don't understand why you don't want to believe my word even though I'm telling you the truth!" he scratched his head, frustrated.

"Simply because it's not believable!"

"What part is not believable here Samantha!? I already did things to show my feelings, I told you I like you, what else am I supposed to do to make you see me?"

"How can I see you if all of this is just a part of your stupid joke!" Samantha rebutted which made Caleb raise his brows on her.

"For 2 years Samantha, I have liked you, you think this is a joke?" He looked Samantha straight on the eyes, "I've liked you since our mid semester two years ago Samantha. I always took notice of you but I guess I'm just an invisible person for you," he smiled sadly, "The thing is, almost every girl in school likes me, but you're the only one who doesn't. Even though I'm popular at school, you have never spared me a glance. I don't even why I like you. At first I took you as a challenge, then as time went by.. I don't know.. My feelings deepened,"

"Every time I see you, my heart feels an inexplicable feeling. My day is not made if I don't get to see you. But I don't have the courage to confess my feelings to you. Then one day, I saw you talking with a guy. You were smiling at him the way I wanted you to smile at me. After that day, I followed the both of you everywhere you went. I realized that you guys were only together because of a project, but Jake caught me stalking you,"

Samantha raised her brows on him, "I don't understand Caleb, what do you mean?" she asked him.

"That day he forced me to confess everything. He was the one who came up with the plan of making you a Reverix Wanted. He wanted us to get closer. I didn't want to waste his efforts, so I played along, but haven't you noticed?" he asked her staring at her eyes.

"W-what?" she asked him, her heart racing.

"I haven't treated you like a wanted, not even once Samantha. I only did things to show my feelings for you. You looked scared of me, so I did gentle things to show you myself. For 2 years Sam, this is the only time where I had the courage to tell you my feelings. For a man who you don't see, can you blame me for wanting to get close to you?"

Samantha's jaw dropped. Was she hearing things right now? He said what?

"All I'm asking for is a chance Samantha. A chance to prove myself, my feelings for you," he held Samantha's hand.

Samantha's mind was in a complete mess. She didn't know how to respond to him right now, she was rendered speechless. All along she thought Caleb was only playing with her, then what is this?

He was confessing to her right now!

"I don't know what to say Caleb," she bowed hear head down.

"You don't have to say anything right now, just let me court you Samantha,"

"But.."

Caleb suddenly hugged her, "One chance Sam, just one chance," he said.

"Let go of her!" Ezekiel's loud voice sounded from. He rushed towards them and grabbed Samantha from him.

"Aren't you playing unfair?" Ezekiel questioned him.

"I don't see what's unfair here," Caleb shrugged his shoulders mockingly at Ezekiel.

"So this is how you want to play? Fine I'll give it to you," Ezekiel said then grabbed Samantha's shoulders and faced her to him.

"Look into my eyes Sam," he said, "From this day forward, you will forget everything good about Caleb Sylvester. He's nothing but a jerk in your head," he said.

"That's not fair! You can't use compulsion on her!" Caleb pushed Ezekiel away from Samantha.

"Samantha look at me, do you remember me? All the things I said a while ago, do you remember?" he asked Samantha, compulsion is unbreakable unless she was turned into a vampire. He was afraid that she'll forget about him.

"What are you even talking about? Of course I remember. Ezekiel why were you speaking nonsense?" Samantha turned to look at Ezekiel.

Both Caleb and Ezekiel looked at each other in shock, what happened?

"What do you mean? It should have worked!" Ezekiel blurted out of frustration.

Caleb sighed in relief and said "Looks like someone lost their compulsion ability," his tone filled with mockery.

"What the hell are you guys talking about?" Samantha said in frustration. She can't understand a single thing they were saying.

Then Ezekiel rushed towards Samantha. He reached for her arm and searched her wrists, then his eyes fell on her neck. He held the vial pendant on the necklace but his hand was instantly burned by it.

"Vervain necklace? People still have those?" Caleb raised his brows.

Accessories filled with the juice of the plant called vervain was used by people on the early 17th century to prevent vampires from compelling them. Vervain is a plant that was already extinct on this day, how come Samantha is wearing one?

"Can you guys please educate me here? Vervain what? Compulsion what?" Samantha turned her head alternately on Caleb and Ezekiel.

They were currently talking about gibberish thing for her!

"It's nothing, just forget about Sam. Let's go, it's getting dark. I'll take you home," Ezekiel said and held Samantha by the wrist.

Driving, Ezekiel couldn't help it but think about what happened.

If Samantha was wearing a Vervain necklace, her family is definitely people who are aware of supernatural existence.

Was she a threat to him? Is he putting himself on danger by getting close with her?

On the other hand.

"Caleb! We were looking all over for you! Wait, where's the girl?" Jake said. Then the other three followed behind him.

"Guys do you know anyone who still cultures a plant called 'vervain'?" Caleb asked them.

"Vervain? Isn't that plant extinct already?" Ravelo raised his brows.

"Yeah that's also what I thought. Earlier, Ezekiel tried to compell Samantha but it didn't work. She was wearing a vervain necklace," Caleb said.

"That's impossible," said Raviel.

"No, it really is vervain. When Ezekiel held the vial pendant on her necklace, it immediately burned his fingers,"

"Then if that's the case..." said Klay.

"Yes, Samantha's family may be connected to the supernatural existence," said Caleb, completing the thought on Klay's head.
