79 Chapter 79: Wizard City 5

Over the following two weeks, my routine persisted. Occasionally, I would request McGonagall to transport me back to Bastion, where I would delegate tasks and streamline governmental affairs, thanks to Yuno's invaluable lessons. Remarkably, these administrative matters were now far more efficient than they had ever been.

Notably, during this period, I achieved significant breakthroughs in all three of my chosen magical disciplines.

Firstly, I delved deeper into light magic. Now, I possess the ability to employ it for healing purposes and execute short-range teleportation—albeit uncontrolled, yet teleportation nonetheless.

Furthermore, I improved drastically in enhancement magic, allowing me to use every enhancementup to the medium level. Regrettably, I still struggle with managing more than one enhancement at a time, though progress, albeit gradual, is undeniable.

Lastly, Yuno informed me that I had progressed from the basics and could now delve into intermediate-level spells. When I inquired about the extent of my remaining studies, she chuckled and revealed that I had three more levels to conquer, much to my dismay.

Presently, I find myself seated within the grand wizard's abode, engaged in the task of presenting him with a collection of meticulously penned papers brimming with spell formulas dedicated to the mastery of ice magic. The grand wizard's countenance exudes palpable excitement as he meticulously scrutinizes the contents, his eyes alight with fervor for the arcane.

With a sense of reverence, he carefully gathers the papers, delicately placing them within a secure box, which he then slides onto a nearby shelf, safeguarding the knowledge they contain. Finally, he settles himself opposite me.

"Young Brook, may I make a small request of you?" the old wizard inquired, capturing my attention. I glanced up, meeting his gaze, awaiting his words.

"As long as it's not a request for me to go face the Lich alone, I'm all ears," I replied, injecting a hint of humor into the exchange, eliciting a faint chuckle from the elderly wizard. However, his demeanor soon shifted, his expression growing marginally more serious.

"I need you to visit a friend of mine. We go way back, long before the mushroom war. Currently, I am unable to leave the city to check on him, and I'm reluctant to burden any of the other masters with this task, as their schedules are tightly packed and they wouldn't be able to embark on what would likely be a several-day journey," the old wizard began, his voice steady and earnest.

As he spoke, he retrieved a letter bearing the grand wizard's seal, which crackled with a distinct magical aura, clearly enchanted to prevent unauthorized individuals from reading its contents except for the intended recipient.

"Who might this person be? Also, couldn't McGonagall do it? She can teleport around, couldn't she have it delivered in a snap?" I inquired, my curiosity piqued. However, my question seemed to evoke a sigh from the old man. After taking a sip from his cup, he spoke once more, his tone tinged with a hint of resignation.

"McGonagall and my friend have, let's say... a strained relationship," he began, carefully selecting his words. "He became upset after she departed to pursue magical studies, which led him to harbor a slight resentment towards magic itself. Instead, he delved into the creation of technologies far beyond our time—"

Suddenly, realization struck me like a bolt of lightning.

'It can't be!' my mind began racing to connect the dots.

"Moe was truly a peculiar fellow when we first met," the old man continued, his voice carrying a sense of nostalgia. "I was around 40 years old at the time, performing real magic disguised as fake magic as a street performer. It just so happened that Moe was able to see through the façade and recognize that I was the genuine article. It didn't take long for us to forge a friendship, and he showed me the magic of the modern world."

As the old man reminisced about his memories, I listened intently, absorbing each detail of the rise of Moe.Co and the intertwining of McGonagall and Moe's lives. Their meeting, mostly a result of coincidences, unfolded as the old man had been tasked by the previous grand wizard to acquaint the new disciple with the human world. It just so happened that they crossed paths with Moe, and a deep connection formed between him and McGonagall. Over the next year and a half, they embarked on a romantic relationship, but their bliss was short-lived.

The first obstacle arose when McGonagall had to depart to pursue her magical studies further. However, Moe was reluctant to let her go, leading to tension between them. Eventually, their differences became irreconcilable, and they parted ways on bitter terms.

The story, while simple, held a profound understanding, and despite feeling somewhat compelled, I accepted the old man's request. His joy was palpable as he handed me a map outlining the journey ahead. However, upon closer inspection, I noticed something peculiar about the map that gave me pause.

"Hey are you sure this is not wrong?" I asked my confusion mounting as I noted bastion location has shifted from the far east of the continent to the far north while wizard city which is located in the far south is now more south eastern. not only that I saw how many cities were now in far different location. The map was overall a mess but I knew better than to doubt a grand wizard map but I asked the question on my mind anyways.

"Oh nothings wrong with the map, its just the continents try to acclimate to the magic that slowly returning to the world nothing to be worried about" The old man's reassurance about the map's integrity didn't entirely quell my unease. His explanation about the continents trying to acclimate to the returning magic left me dumbfounded. Memories flooded my mind, recalling the stark contrast between the map of Ooo and the world Before the Mushroom War. The differences were staggering, to say the least.

As the realization settled in, I came to understand that magic hadn't fully returned to the world. The implications of this revelation weighed heavily on my mind, stirring a mix of apprehension and curiosity about the changes this resurgence might bring.
