Chapter 74: Month later

The silence in my office at Bastion was a welcomed reprieve, broken only by the gentle glide of my pen across the documents spread out before me. My mind raced as I focused on completing the paperwork quickly and efficiently, the sheer number of documents requiring my attention demanding my full concentration.

Sadly I found my pen halted as a small shadow from the window behind me caught my immediate attention, causing to let out a silent sigh as I turned to face the person trying to sneak up on me.

"Fool what do you want?" I asked turning to see The noseferatu fool floating in the window the moon shining brightly at his back as he did large smile spreading across his face as he was caught for the 5th time to tonight.

"Oh nothing anyways bye! AHHAHAA" Fool's departure, with his enigmatic words and his swift exit through the window into the night, left me feeling a twinge of annoyance. I couldn't shake the feeling that he would soon return, a realization that made me slightly regret sparing him, even though he hadn't taken any lives.

Setting aside my annoyance, I refocused on my work, my mind drifting to the events of the past month. Marceline's reaction to her newfound vampiric status lingered in my thoughts. Surprisingly, she didn't seem too upset about it. She departed a few days later, with her father's permission, who didn't appear to mind his daughter's racial change.

What ensued afterward was chaos, with the surviving vampires lacking leaders and scattering. Some chose to submit to Fool, who agreed to work for me. The rest were wiped out, leaving only a measly 500 vampires compared to the tens of thousands they were before. Their population had drastically decreased.

I even had to run some propaganda campaigns to make sure the people didn't perform hate crimes against the surviving vampires. Something that proved quite hard. Thankfully I was able to use the information fool gave me about lesser vampires being unable to disobey the higher vampires to calm the people but most was unhappy about me keeping a settlement of vampires around, but I wasn't up for wiping out the vampires completely as it never sat well with me.

Back to the present, the reason I was speeding through the paperwork was because a messenger from Wizard City had visited, asking if I would like to come visit soon, now that the war was over. I promised I would, and a week later, I was now finishing up the last bit of paperwork before someone arrived to take me to Wizard City via teleportation magic.

'Okay that should be it' I thought as I signed off on a school to be made in the outer district of Bastion and another for sending troops to cull the last few ooze beasts and oozers remaining. Then, I stood up, grabbed my cloak, and headed out of my office and into the streets of Bastion. Passing through crowds of people who greeted me with reverence clear across their faces, I practically ignored them as I swiftly exited Bastion. The farmlands now surrounded the sprawling city, going on for miles, as I continued to walk the dirty path that ran between them. Soon, I arrived in the middle of nowhere.

The landscape would have been completely empty if not for the very conspicuous woman in a long white robe who wore a pitch-black blindfold, both of which were decorated with teal and orange eyes. Much to my unrest, these eyes seemed to move, looking in my direction as they analyzed me with a disgusting amount of detail. Feeling no danger, I quickly approached the woman, whom I could tell was from Wizard City.

"Oh, you must be Brook. Nice to meet you," the woman spoke in a sing-song manner, her voice rising in pitch before falling, or in other cases, speaking fast then speaking slow. How she noticed Brook with her eyes covered Brook could only leave it up to the magic of magic.

*Yes, that would be me, and it's good to meet you too. I'm very excited to see Wizard City,* I spelled out my words as I watched the small eyes that decorated the blindfold move and shift as they read the words I created.

We greetings aside I watched the woman wave her hands as we disappeared in flash of light
