Chapter 65: Public Excution
"[Invalid target]" The notification rang out repeatedly as I attempted to use the skill again and again, much to my annoyance. However, I didn't let my frustration show. With little to no care, I restrained the Empress using chains of ice, floating her behind me as I began the journey back to the bastion.
Along the way, I encountered the slow-moving group of servants, and together, we embarked on the journey back. Days later, we finally reached our destination, bringing the captured Empress with us.
Upon my return, I wasted no time in issuing orders for everyone to gather in the square in front of the town hall. Multiple messengers were dispatched to gather the council, while I made my way to the square myself, with the Empress in tow. Her dissatisfaction with her treatment was evident, but I paid her protests no heed.
As I walked down the road, the people of the bastion parted like the ocean, their gazes fixed on me, or more specifically, on the Empress who floated behind me. She struggled pathetically against her bindings, but I silenced her with a bolt of ice, freezing her mouth shut as I continued down the road towards the square where there was already a couple people gathered there already.
'Lets wait a bit' That's all I thought as I walked to the center of the square, creating a massive throne of ice with a wave of my hand before taking a seat. I ignored the whispers of the slowly gathering people, instead focusing on my two approaching advisors, Duke and Emma, who were followed by a dozen servants forming a perimeter around the square.
"Commander who is that?" Duke spoke first as he pointed over to empress who has given up her struggle and was now just floating limply off to the side.
*She's the Nosferatu named Empress," I said dressing Duke question, as I continued to explain
*I captured her after rescuing our last dispatched servants from a larger than usual nest* They nod, but noticing them ready to ask more questions I raised my hands to silence them and signal for them to wait.
20 minutes later I noticed the council members arrive there face stuck with the same unhappy look as they had when they first left my presence but I still couldn't care less as I now was ready to do what I sat out to do.
*Duke read out what I write* I said getting a nod from Duke who stepped forward and began to read my words load and clear to the now gathered crowd of people.
"My people I bring before you one of the leaders and honestly one of the worst! The empress!" This sentence seem to cause a stir as there was little to no one who didn't know who the empress was as she was the main one responsible for destroying settlments and creating vampires meaning she was the main reason for the refugees and destroyed settlements in and around the continent.
"I bring her here to encourage you to stand tall, to stand strong, and to struggle against these horrible monsters who feast on your children, friends, and family as if they're livestock," Duke declared to the gathered crowd. As he spoke, I waved my hands, causing a long great sword to appear. With a firm grip, I brought the Empress before me, the crowd erupting in excitement, their screams and yells echoing throughout the square.
'This should raise moral' I thought as Emma came over and forced the empress head to the floor as I brought my great sword above my head the crowd chanting as with one swift motion decapitated the empress.
