45 Chapter 45: ???

"H-how?" I stammered out, my voice unfamiliar to my own ears.

"Simple, my good friend. Here in the Nightosphere, I can really stretch my legs," Abadeer replied with a smirk.

That's all I was getting, and I could feel it. So, I didn't ask more. Instead, I enjoyed the sensation of air running through my lungs and the cool air of the dining room on my skin. However, my moment of peace was interrupted by Marceline, who was sitting across the table from me.

"Aren't you the guy Mom and Dad worked for? What happened? When did you become a skeleton monster thing? Did you die and come down here? Are you some sort of crazy killer? Dad, I thought you said this wasn't hell," Marceline bombarded me with questions I couldn't answer immediately. After a moment, I was able to speak clearly.

"Yes, I am the one your parents worked for. As for what happened, one day I awoke and was a skeleton," I replied, noticing Marceline's keen interest in my response. She seemed eager to ask more questions, but Abadeer intervened, suggesting we eat. We soon dug into the food, and to say it was good would be an understatement. I found myself devouring dozens of dishes alone, even causing Abadeer to pause and stare as I downed an entire bowl of jello in one go. I felt embarrassed when I noticed the father and daughter staring at me, but eating in the mindscape never offered the feeling of eating—just the taste, which was okay up to a point.

Soon enough we moved on from the food to the gift mountain but Marceline ignored most of the gifts and went straight for mines on the table which after opening she was quite happy with especially the cross bow as she took a few pot shots at abadeer but obviously the devilish man dodged and caught with the same easy he always showed.

"Thanks for the gift, the other residents of the nightosphere give such weird presents! one of them even sent the intestines of his most recent kill, dad nearly vamporised the poor dude if I didn't stop him" Marceline joked her as she clutched the art kit I gave her with the cross bow now slung over her shoulder the cross bow being slightly to big as it was designed for full grown adult though she didn't seem to mind.

"Don't worry, about to just glad to see you alright Elise would be happy" I said mentioning Elsie who even though I don't think about much had one of the purest emotions Ive ever seen.

Sadly soon enough I had to wrap up my stay but before I left I was approached by abadeer offering me a deal and also to alert me the spell making me human will son ware off after I leave and that it will hurt a lot.
