4 Chapter 004 Going to Cebu, Philippines

The dinning table look like a feast fit for a king. Adobo (traditional Filipino cooking style of soy sauce and vinegar) spare ribs, pancit (noodles), seafood sinigang (sour soup), lumpas (looks like egg rolls) and many more dishes on silver plates. But no one was eating, the Verba family was in the midst of a heavy discussion. Mrs. Verba didn't want to interrupt but felt she had to say something. "Asawa (husband) don't worry, am sure something can be done to get a contract." Mrs. Verba turn to look at Bambi, she raised her eyebrows. Bambi didn't understand, what was her mom hinting at. Mrs. Verba said again "Don't worry we can get a contract." She turn to look a Bambi once again. Kandy now looked up, interested in the conversation. Bambi wasn't close to her mom like Kandy was. While Bambi was in boarding school, Kandy was in private school close to home. Then when it came to collage Bambi went to the States, Kandy study close by. Bambi decided to go to University in Quezon City. With so much traffic a two hour drive in the morning and then going home was four hours wasted on the road. Her parents felt it was best if she lived near campus. Meanwhile Kandy wanted to be a model, taking all Mrs. Verba attention. Bambi had to survive on her own that made her be a go-geter! Seeing her opportunity Bambi spoke up. "Dad I can get the contract!" Mr. Verba jolted up in his seat. "Dad, I will make a new contract that will lock Mr. Lee's grandson down to us for five years. Then if everything is satisfactory for both parties an additional contract for another five years can be made. So please let me do this." Bambi's eyes where emotional. This tugged at Mr. Verba's heart, but what father was going to let his daughter go to Cebu city alone! That was a whole other part of the mainland. Cebu was the 9th biggest island down south, also most of the population spoke Visaya/Cebuano (the Philippines have 170 languages) and Bambi only spoke english ( he forgot she also knows tagalog and japanese)! Mr. Verba took a deep breath "Bambi, this is important contract but I am not letting you go alone to see that Leo Lee guy by yourself!" Mr.Verba took his wine glass, finishing all the red wine in one goop. Bambi shiver, did she hear right? Leo Lee guy? Was this the same guy from the gym's juice bar? If she remember correctly he wasn't much of a talker. His personality look very reserved and serious compared to the other two goofballs (Pedro and Juan). Thinking it over Bambi felt it wasn't going to be that easy, it was going to be impossible! Who spoke next shocked Bambi even more. "Who says she's going alone, I haven't been in Cebu in years!" Kandy said, adding. "Am sure if I go with Bambi no guy will bother her, okay Dad!" Kandy winked at her little sister. But it was very true Bambi knew that she didn't have the looks, personality or curves like her sister. Her sister had always been girly and she has been more... yeah...more of a tomboy. Kandy has short brown hair and soft green eyes like their mother. Bambi has long straight black hair down to her back. Honey color eyes like her father but with her long eyelashes she didn't need any eyeliner or mascara. Some would say she has a sweet and natural beauty but who wants that when her sister looks like a runway model! Feeling down Bambi had no energy to complain. Mrs. Verba was very pleased. "How nice! The two girls can go on a trip and spend time together!" The mood in the room had lifted up. Only Mr.Verba and Bambi looked discouraged. Tito Gabriel smile "In three days am going down south passing Cebu why dont you girls join me on my plane?" Kandy's eyes lit up. "Wow! Can we dad?" Mr. Verba felt it was best that his daughters be with family. "Pack your bags, you and Bambi are going to Cebu!"
