1 Chapter 0: Before Death

In one of the buses returning from the summer camp, 30 students from Kouzuki High School suffer an attack on the bridge, resulting in 31 deaths.

This is what I imagine you have on the local newscast tonight. I must give a presentation I think, I am Yuri E. Shimizu, I am 16 years old and I am an ordinary kid, I would say it if it were in Brazil, but it seems to be only ¼ Japanese, ¼ Italian and the rest Brazilian makes a difference, I have lived in Brazil until the beginning of this year, I moved to Japan to do high school, had decided this when I was 10 years old to meet my cousins from mother, they are twins, Suzuki Naoto and Suzuki Ruriko the same age as I, only a few months late, was surprised to see them coming. They had learned Portuguese from their mother who is my mother's younger sister, Aunt Shiori, although Portuguese was not perfect, at least I understood, they had told me about the school, the places they were, the parks, and that made me want to go there a lot, and on hearing this, their father, Uncle Nagumo, had spoken of interchange, and my family, well, said that if I wanted to go to Japan, I would have to take a high note in the school and learn to speak Japanese.

In the first year it was difficult, my maternal grandmother had helped me in Japanese, my cousins spent an hour every night from Monday to Friday, helping me in Japanese and studying, and I helped them in the Portuguese language, but the few I got used to. My paternal grandmother told me that if I wanted to take advantage of the time in Japan to the maximum I would have to have enough savings, so she made sweets and cookies, I sold at school and I got somewhat, although I think the only amount that she was to do more, probably did not even count the price of gas. Next year she taught me how to make bread, step by step, that's when I discovered that we have to include the price of gas in the accounts, of course who helped me bake the bread was her. I spent the year learning Japanese and other subjects, both Brazilian and Japanese history, with my cousins, I learned to make Japanese sweets, European sweets, bread and kept all savings in a bank account opened by my mother until that year, yes , the year that middle school was over, the year I took all the necessary documents to study in Japan, the year my cousins once again came to visit us.

Haa, that party was amazing in many ways, from Christmas to New Year, we were all gathered there at home, a hellish heat of summer, crowded beaches during the fireworks of the new year. The best part was seeing Aunt and Dad discussing what to pay or not to pay for my expenses here. I remember the conversation as if it were yesterday.

"Shiori we have to discuss the accounts."

"Have not I made it clear that I do not want to talk about it?"

My dad said, getting a question from Aunt Shiori.

"But I can not let Yuri go without paying for his expenses, there's the food, the light, the water is the gas."

He said holding it so firm that I would have given up on it.

"I have to say something to you, school expenses will be taken out of my finances, I had already asked Naoto about the costs and I saw that I have more than enough to pay for the 3 years in advance, and that's all."

After I said that, I ran from that place.

I later learned that the expenses my parents would pay would be thirty percent of the water and the light, Aunt Shiori wanted nothing but my mother came in and the matter quickly came to an end.

I came to Japan together with my cousins, they still had class while mine had already finished, I wrote to the same school as them, I did the registration test, fortunately I spent with a good effort, but I was shocked to discover that the school which I entered was a girls' only school until about two years ago, and in my room with thirty students there were only nine boys to include me and Naoto, my cousins and I stayed in the same room, it must be why they are my relatives and my Aunt seems to know the director here, do not ask me how.

I spent the year well what I had difficulty learning, colleagues were not like those manga, who despise strangers or treat them as abnormal, Naoto had entered the library committee and I went along with him, Ruriko went to the student council , she had invited me but there it seemed that it would give a lot of work so I rejected it.

Time passed, I had done well in school, I had talked to my parents in the evening, during the golden week, I had gone to the hot springs with everyone and we went to the summer camp.

All this time, my cousins, my aunt and uncle, had all received me very well and all I felt was gratitude and happiness.

So when we got back from the camp, as we passed the bridge, I was shocked by the bus that came from the opposite direction, my cousins were sitting on the side where the bus was to hit.

"Caution!"

It was all I could scream at the moment I stood between the window and them, I had pulled the Ruriko that was on the side of the window, towards Naoto, I put my back against the window and I prayed to you for us to be safe.

"Booooom"

I thought the impact was all until I heard the blast and everything lightened.
