As Lu Weixi uttered her final word, Qin Zhiyou finally put down the document in his hand.

He slightly lifted his head, a penetrating glow reflecting from his slightly indifferent eyes.

A subtle chill pervaded the room, perhaps due to the cold of the rainy night. Lu Weixi felt a slight shiver, paused briefly, then continued her meticulous explanation, "Add a supplement of $50,000 each month. At other times, according to the rules, I will quietly be your wife – I won't meddle in your affairs nor gossip about our relationship. In front of your grandfather, I will try my best to speak well of you, behaving as the perfect granddaughter-in-law. As for children..."

Before Lu Weixi finished speaking, she saw Qin Zhiyou's fingers, resting on the desk, abruptly tighten, before slowly loosening and gently tapping on the table. After a long while, he lifted the corners of his lips in what seemed like a smile. But his facial expression appeared even colder.

"I absolutely won't cause you trouble. So..."

Qin Zhiyou leaned sideways on his revolving chair. After she finished speaking, he raised his brows and his other hand propped up his chin, lazily and arrogantly watching her, "You mean, if I come home every day and spend every day with you, should I pay an additional $200,000 a month?"

Lu Weixi immediately shook her head: "I didn't..."

Qin Zhiyou waved his hand, interrupting her speech. He squinted his eyes, scanning her from head to toe with a merchandise-inspecting glance, then slowly withdrew his gaze, chuckling dismissively, "No wonder Zhang Ailing said, marriage is long-term prostitution—"

Lu Weixi's blood seemed to solidify. It was as if someone had slapped her face hard, the burning pain was intense. She suddenly stood up and hurried to the door.

She hadn't reached the door when her arm was suddenly grabbed. Qin Zhiyou pulled her, causing her to lose balance. Stumbling backward, she ended up leaning against the desk.

His tall, sturdy body slowly approached, a cruel light flashing in his icy gaze. She suddenly sensed something, cold sweat appeared on her back, her legs felt weak, "Qin Zhiyou, you..."

"Don't want your money anymore?" His mouth twisted into a smile, his voice like the black coffee he had just drunk — rich, husky, tainted with a twist of wicked darkness. He swept all the documents off the desk with one quick move. The scattered papers reflected her tumultuous emotions — surprise, a desire to dodge, and a hint of humiliation.

Qin Zhiyou advanced another step, thwarting her planned escape. Then he moved closer, his words as icy as his gaze, "It's too much hassle this way. How about a monthly, yearly, or lifetime package?"

----

Lu Weixi was woken by a burst of sharp alarm.

With her eyes closed, she groped around the bedside table for a while and sleepily turned off the phone alarm.

The reminder for the day read: "A troublesome client coming to the company at 10 am."

Lu Weixi, as a interior designer for Evergreen Design Institute, was head of a small team.

After a long while, she rolled out of bed. The man who had been there earlier was gone now, but on the bedside table remained a cup of water and a morning-after pill.
