13 Who Did I Offend? [1]

Roland felt a bit nervous as he was confused as to what was happening.

It was just the day before that he'd tried to talk with the man, only to have him scream out, causing a commotion. Now, he seemed completely different from before. Roland couldn't help but assess the man as he walked behind him.

He walked upright as though a dignified figure, which contrasts the rather timid appearance he had displayed the day before.

Roland stopped at the entrance to the alley, skeptical about the sudden change in the man's character.

As though sensing that Roland had stopped, the man paused in his steps and turned his body halfway to Roland.

"Come" his voice was filled with authority.

A majestic aura shrouded the man, which astonished Roland,

'Is this really the timid man I'd seen and not his twin?'

That unknown force which had attached itself to Roland before, enveloped him once more. He involuntarily moved his legs and followed behind the man's retreating figure until they arrived at the end of the alley.

"Go" the man pointed towards the brick wall.

"Huh?" Roland felt confused.

'There's nowhere to go',

"Go" the man repeated once more, sounding rather impatient.

'Go? Go where? Is he blind?'

The man seemed annoyed that Roland wasn't moving. He moved behind him and gripped one hand onto Roland's collar and the other onto his trousers.

Roland panicked.

"W-w-what are you doing???"

The man swung his arms back before throwing Roland toward the brick wall.

"Ah!" Roland screamed out in pain as his head made contact with the wall.

"What the hell's wrong with you?!"

He held onto his head and swore at the man.

The man scratched his head before he lifted Roland once more.

"P-put me down!"

He swung his arms and released Roland.

To Roland's surprise, he did not make any physical contact with the wall. Instead, his body made contact with the ground.

"Huh?" his eyes, which he'd, closed due to his instinct was re-opened.

"Where am I?"

------------

Back in the alley, the man stood before the brick wall unmoving. Before him, stood a slender, young woman, blond hair cascading down like a waterfall wearing dark fitting clothes.

"Your job's over. I have no use for you for now".

-----------------

"Have you succeeded?"

"Barely. If we were dealing with the witches only, it wouldn't have been a problem. But, this time around we're facing a powerful adversary. Even the witches themselves are threatened by this force".

"Not good. How about that person?".

"That person would only have a 40% chance of victory".

"What do you suggest?"

"We wait. After an encounter recently, we found out that the force is weakening".

"Then we wait"

-----------------------

"Are you even a man?" a voice whispered into Roland's ear. His body jolted up and he looked around.

'There's no one there. Strange, I could've sworn I heard a woman's voice just now'.

He stood up and brushed off his garments and his hair. As he was about to take a step, he felt what seemed to be a foot make contact with his back, causing him to stumble.

"Where are you going? Did I say you could move?"

The voice sounded sinister, causing Roland's nerves to go haywire.

'Just who did I offend?'
