28 Not Sorry For Laughing

"So what's this journey you keep mentioning?" Roland took a seat on the ground as he probed the altar for answers.

"As I said before, you died and transmigrated but your situation is a bit tricky. The series of events that you experienced aren't actually apart of the story you're in currently. The beasts and that demigod.

After your transmigration, a change that I'm not entirely sure about happened, causing a complete change in the story. The beginning to the end."

"So the witch that tired me up....."

"Just a change in the story. The people are not aware that they are fictional. Your character's fate changed the moment you appeared."

"So it's all fake right? Like that monster incident...."

"You mean where your a ss got wrecked?"

The altar's laugh echoed throughout the chamber "that's all real..ha ha"

The altar laughed uncontrollably.

"..."

"You got wrecked. Ha ha..."

"..."

Roland was on the verge of tears.

After half hour, the altar's laughter stopped.

"I'm not sorry for laughing. I got a good laugh" the altar declared.

Roland forced a smile on his face.

'If I had a sledgehammer, you'd be a pile of rubble now!' Roland expressed inwardly.

"Whew!... As I was saying everything's fictional but it's also real. Fictional characters have feelings and feel pain don't they?"

"You do have a point"

"Every story has an ending. This gateway was created for the purpose of experiencing the story for yourself as well as changing the ending to your desires.

Doesn't matter. The most important thing is that the story must end. This is where your journey comes in.

You'll choose the type of genre, platform, among other things. Following that, you'll enter into the story of your choice."

"What's the purpose of me doing all this? How does it befit me?" Roland questioned.

"You're in a fictional realm. The only way out is to reach the end of the story. You can decide not to go along with it. You'll have to pay a price though. Not much, just with your soul".

"..."

'Why not? I'll probably die at your expense for all the blood that rushing to my brain!'

"Besides, you've signed the agreement. Didn't you read the terms and conditions? It's stated there".

'WHAT TERMS AND CONDITIONS!!'

As though sensing Roland's thoughts, the altar added;

"It's in fine print on the cover"

Roland calmed himself and gritted his teeth before asking;

"Technically, my journey has already started. Aren't I in a story?"

The altar remained silent for a while.

"Don't worry about that. It doesn't count" the altar brushed it off "let's begin".
