20 My Sacred Monument

'It baffles me how humans are able to knock themselves out willingly. Quite scary when you think about it'.

He stared at Roland's unconscious figure which was sprawled across the bed.

'When he's unconscious he looks so, bland? Was he like this the last time?'

He felt like he received one of products that were advertised and portrayed in a manner to

convince you to buy it, only to get ripped off.

"Get up"

He shook Roland's body.

No response.

He raised his leg, using it to apply pressure on Roland's crotch.

"AH!" he jolted up immediately, hands instantly covering his crotch as he cowered in pain. Tears threatened to fall from his eyes.

'My Sacred Monument!'

"Great".

The young man walked towards the other side of the room. Roland watched, a tear drop leaving his eyes, as he picked up a chair, placing it before him and having a seat.

He sat back, legs cut cross, hand propped under his chin, propped on the armrest; eyes resting on Roland.

'Why's he staring at me like that?'

"I really want to play with you, but you decided to pass out and take up my playing time" he pouted.

"I have another job to do so I won't be back for a while. Might take a longer time than what is originally planned if I stumble upon Cerberus" He mumbled.

"Cerberus?" Roland couldn't help but asking.

He recalled a memory which involved research on Cerberus.

'If this memory serves me right, Cerberus is a three-headed from Greek Mythology. Its description varied a bit.

I recall looking on Wikipedia and it stated that is was often called the "hound of Hades", and guarded the gates of the Underworld to prevent the dead from leaving'.

"Yes Cerberus. That damned dog. It's so hard to roam the underworld with that thing around".

'One minute I'm dealing with witches and beasts and now I'm caught up in Greek Mythology.

This is just messed up and unrealistic'.

"You're one of few humans who were able to catch this demigod's attention. Consider yourself lucky. Since I'm interested, tell me one thing. What's your name?"

"Roland" it rolled off his tongue involuntarily.

He scolded himself.

"What a boring name. Hope your performance won't be like your name" he laughed as if he'd told the world's funniest joke.

After calming himself he spoke up;

"Hermes, demigod, the son of Zeus; emissary and messenger of the gods".

'Hermes, demigod, Zeus' those three words were the only thing Roland had processed.

'My mind is so confused right now. I think I need to pass out again to be able to come to terms with what's happening'.

Hermes watched as Roland furrowed his brows and smiled.

"You probably don't know what I'm talking about" he laughed "When I came here, I was surprised that men worshiped other beings outside of us gods; someone who's apparently higher than Zeus. Felt weird as humans have been worshiping us for millenniums. This change came as a shock to me.

Thought they'd cower when facing me, but then I encountered the church. They're quite a formidable existence. Their forces could almost be on the same level as a supreme being.

It just so happened that I appeared during the holy war, which was quite an unfortunate moment. Stuff happened and now I've been reduced to a beast. Demi-god by day, beast by night.

If I stay in that ugly form for a long period I'm able to transform willingly.

I could've gone back home and asked to remove the curse but I'd be a laughing stock.

I have pride."

'Why's he telling me this? Do I look like Dr. Phil?'

"I wouldn't have been reduced to such a state if it weren't for that guy".
