He reread the disclaimer that he'd seen earlier when he had first discovered the book. Initially, he had thought he was being played once more but seeing last line had caught him off guard.

'If you've decided to accept the terms and conditions of the contract, place a blood imprint on the space shown above with your thumb'.

"Blood imprint? Isn't this equivalent to making a deal with the devil?" he couldn't help but ask out loud.

"Devil?" the altar burst out laughing and didn't say anything afterwards.

Roland stared at the book for quite some time, hesitating as to whether or not he should leave an imprint.

'If I don't, there's a possibility that I'd be giving up the only chance I have at getting answers'.

He released a sighed.

With his hands raised, he placed the tip of his thumb between his lips and bit as hard as he could. He removed his now bloody finger from his mouth and pressed it down on the space given in the book.

A bright light engulfed the book in hand, temporarily blocking his line of sight. After a brief moment, the light dimmed.

At this exact moment the altar spoke;

"Hold on, I didn't light it up properly. Let me try again"

"...."

'Light up your mother!'

A light engulfed the book, blocking Roland's vision temporarily once more before going dim.

Roland looked towards the book and noticed that the disclaimer and his imprint disappeared and had been replaced by two words;

'Contract established'

"It's done" the altar's voice echoed into Roland's ear "Turn the page".

As instruction, Roland flipped the page of the book. Upon seeing what was on the next page, he could help but widen his eyes.

'.....'

In bold letters, 'TABLE OF CONTENTS' were neatly written and placed at the center on top of the page.

Sensing Roland's reaction, the altar spoke;

"It's a book right? Have you ever seen a book with a table of contents? How else would you know what's in the book?" a sound, similar to that of a tongue clicking reached Roland's ears.

"Kids these days, don't they read anymore?"

'I was literally 'killed' while reading a book. What do you mean by 'kids these days?'

Roland felt wronged and couldn't help but curse at the old altar.

Turning his attention back towards the book, he noticed that there was only one item listed under the table of contents.

'Pissy Boy begins his journey'

"...."

"Fitting title, don't you think?" the old altar laughed "As time passes, the list will be updated".

'What's that supposed to mean?'

"Turn the page"

He turned the page and was at a loss for words after seeing the content on the following page;

'Foreword;

Due to unforeseen circumstances, Pissy Boy Chen Yan found himself in The Dark Ages; a time where the church reigns supreme (apparently it's like that but whatever). To his surprise, he's no longer 'Chen Yan' but Roland, a prince who is being groomed by the church to execute evil in the Lord's name.

But what he doesn't know is that it doesn't end there, as he encounters a force (me of course. I'm that amazing) that will change his life.

Join Roland on his journey to getting his a ss beaten .
