Chapter Sixty Four

Taking in a deep breath, filling your lungs to their capacity you leaned against your closed bedroom door. After Mr. Principle and the two police officers left you turned to go upstairs only to find a handful of your classmates were eavesdropping on the conversation and had learned things about you you wished remained hidden.

You bypassed them without a word and went directly to your new dorm room.

Thunder crackled outside, pulling you from your thoughts you rubbed your tired face.

A million questions floated around your mind. What were they going to think, what would they say next time they see you? Would they act differently? Would Mina still want a monster as her friend?

Would he look at you differently?

Of course he would.

You reached your hand up, brushing your fingers over your neck, feeling the soreness around each of your very first hickies. You opened your eyes, pulling your thoughts out of the muggy dark waters of your mind as your flicked on the bright blue warmer which acted more as a nightlight than a candle warmer.

You told yourself there was nothing you could do today, maybe after a few hours of sleep you would have a clearer head and know how to approach your classmates in the morning.

You took three steps towards your bed before the crackle of lightning and thunder rocked through your bedroom, standing your nerves on edge as the power flickered off leaving you in utter darkness.

Your eyes were wide staring at the pitch-black room.

Your heart instantly began to panic as your hands scrambled through the annoying sheets of your bed searching for your phone. The hair on your neck stood upward, your mind raced throwing darts into your line of thought, forcing you to picture the darkness twisting into Shadow Jack, reaching out towards you.

Finally, your hands wrapped around your phone. You grabbed it slamming your fingers against the side button trying to bring it to life, you needed the relief of the bright screen but your heart sunk realizing the cell phone was dead, useless to you.

You could hear faint bickering. You forgot about your worries with your classmates, you spun on your heel and instantly began to run down the hallway following their voices. You didn't want to be alone in the dark.

With the elevators down, you had to take the stone staircase. Every few steps your eyes snapped to the corners of the stairs. The darkness twisted reaching out threatening to engulf your sanity.

"What the hell is this!?" Kaminari whined, your breathing labored with your pounding heart as you felt heat collecting around your skin as you walked into the common area where some of your classmates were standing around, shining their beacon of light easing your tense muscles.

"Looks like the storm knocked out the power." Ida figured, looking out the window hearing the pounding rain.

"What are we gonna do!?" Toru shuttered.

"There is nothing we can do right now." Shoto answered. "I called Mr. Aizawa, he said the teachers will come out in the morning to inspect the power box but until then we are to stay inside and try to go to bed."

"I hate this!" Mina whined.

"What the hell is all the noise for-!?" His deep voice was scratchy, "-all your damn commotion woke me up!"

"The power is out Bakugo!" Sero said.

"No shit!" Bakugo snapped, "It's one little storm, you heard Aizawa they will get it fixed in the morning. Until then shut up and go to bed-!"

"I guess he's right..."

"-can't get any damn sleep around here-!" Bakugo rants, but is cut off by a shock of thunder so hard it vibrates through your body, lightening quickly followed blinding your eyes for a moment.

Bakugo narrows onto the outline of you, the flash of light allowed him to scan the room everyone appeared to be fine, all except you. Your outline trembled, and the ash blond couldn't understand why. You were...you, nothing ever seemed to faze you.

Bakugo thought to your bedroom again, his eyes widened as he realized how many plug-in wall scents you had, he thought it was odd until he recalled how they all lit up...Bakugo walked over to where you were frozen in place.

You didn't like the dark and it didn't take a genius to figure out why.

Bakugo approached you from behind, about to call out your name until another boom of thunder rattled the windows. Without thinking, Bakugo wrapped an arm around you, pulling you into him. Your eyes were wide as your body trembled, his right arm wrapped around your lower back, feeling secure you closed your eyes resting your face in his chest ignoring the world around you.

"Everyone shut the hell up and go to bed!" Bakugo ordered before turning away you were still latched in his grip, he carried you with such ease you felt like a rag doll in his arms as you two walked up the floor flights of stairs and through your dorm room.

After a moment he released you before closing and locking the door.

You felt confused, watching his outline walk to the wrong side of the room where your bed was and plop down. You were hit with the strong scent of caramel and melted sugar. You were wrong, you weren't in your dorm room, you were in his.

"You gonna stand there all night or come to bed?" Bakugo's quizzing voice send shivers along your back.

"I-" You were stunned, debating on whether to join him or return to your own room. After two point five seconds you decided it would probably to best to head over to your own room and ride out this hellish night on your own.

Lightening lit up your face, you saw a flash of Bakugo, an arm tucked behind his head, he watched every motion you made. The crackle of thunder outside shot you years in the past, sitting all alone inside a cold cell tears flowing down your face as you kept looking through the bars, in the empty place where your sister and brother use to sit with you when it stormed.

Bakugo quickly got off the bed, jogging over to you he cupped the side of your face. Your blank eyes showed him how far away you were. Bakugo used his thumb to wipe away the tear falling from your eye.

"Hey princess..." Bakugo's voice acted as a hand in the darkness, leading you back to your body. Your wide eyes looked to him, over flowed tears dripped down your face. "...come back to me."

"I-" You looked to the floor, using the back of your hand to wipe away the wet trail from your cheek.

"Come on." He breathed, pulling you to the bed, lighting pushing you onto the soft mattress.

"I don't-"

"Just shut up and get under the covers." Bakugo grunted, crawling into the bed himself. "I'm tired and want to sleep."

Your heart was pounding as you lifted the blankets pushing your legs beneath the sheets warmth crawled over your skin. You rested your head against the fluffy pillow, the strong scent of caramel and melted sugar invaded you, slightly relaxing your stiff muscles. You swallowed the lump in your throat, unable to bring yourself to look over to where Bakugo laid just inches away.

You stared at the ceiling; flashes of your siblings lined your mind causing you to pull your face together fighting back the tears as your heart ached with the scars you held from losing them.

"Hey-" You turned your head, shock flashed through you seeing Bakugo was facing you, he laid underneath same covers as you. "-do...do you want to talk about any of it?"

You thought for a moment, how do you begin to explain to him the emotions stirring inside you which threatened to spill over and cause a mess?

"No." You found yourself whispering.

"Alright." He breathed pulling the blanket off his legs, feeling hot. He looked over at you, the moonlit leaking through the curtains allowed him to watch you staring mind racing at the ceiling. With a sigh he lifted his arm.

"Wha-?" Feeling his arms wrap around your body pulling you until your head was resting on his chest.

"Stop over thinking-" Bakugo ordered, "-and go to bed." You smirked, as if it would be that easy to shut off your over active brain. "I'm here-" Bakugo added, "-so your safe, now close your damn eyes and go to sleep."

The sound of Bakugo's heart lulled you into a peaceful dreamless sleep.
