1 Chapter 01 New beginnings

Hi I'm Leilani Coving-Ridge, your probably wondering why I'm introducing myself. Let's just say my life is pretty interesting. Let's stick to the basics I was born in 1884 in a small village called lambrook. We stayed there until I was 17 years old and we have been moving around for a very long time. I have a family just like everyone else. I have an Older brother Kai, Alec my twin, Luca the youngest of the sons, and lastly Maria. I have a mother and father too. Every 15 years my family and I relocate covering our traces to ensure that the mortals don't know our secret. But I'll let you in on our secret, we are vampires.

Before you say anything, no, the sun does not kill us, in fact we find the sun quite refreshing. It's the opposite when it come to garlic too we enjoy it just as much as the next person. We also don't need permission to walk into another's home if you get what I mean.

Naturally certain things can threaten us, however that's a secret I'll never reveal. Years and decades have passed and it's the year 2021 We live in a beautiful city called Pribora. We have been living here for about 20 years now that being said my father a month ago had told us we were going to be moving onto an island. It's actually the island they grew up on when they were kids. My mother bought a little coffee shop, She is named it Hallowed Ground. My father being a doctor transferred hospitals at his own request becoming Chief of medicine at Burderswell island. Speaking of the island I dislike the name but it has 3 towns so I'm satisfied with that. I know the town we will be living in is called Mannora Key. Sounds very mystical am I right. My mothers parents lived in an estate the Coving-Ridge super fancy. We will actually be taking over as it hasn't been occupied since the last residents which were my grandparents about 60 years ago. They died over some mysterious circumstances. Anyways oh I hear my mother calling me I guess this is until next time good bye. Data Entry June 5th 2021

"Leilani come down here please," her mother yelled. Leilani rushed down the stairs into the kitchen. "Hi mother" she said Hi my child could you go call for your brother. Which one? Kai please. Okay I will. Rushing up the stairs I knock on kai's door. Come in lei. Oh okay I open the door and see that he was finishing his room. What's up he says. Oh mother would like to talk to you. She is in the kitchen. I walk out and see Kai leaving his room to head downstairs. I walk to Alec's room but he isn't in there I then hear laughing coming from Luca's room. I opened it and saw both Luca and Alec playing chess. Hey making them both jump they look up. Oh hi sister they both say. Shouldn't you both be packing we move out tomorrow. Oh lei Alec says. What I say. it's true we're leaving and you don't even have your clothes in boxes yet. And I was going to help Luca, sister so be patient. I am patient would you rather deal with father then. That being said both Luca and Alec packed up the chess board and finished packing luca's clothes. As they were cleaning Leilani left Luca's room and went up another flight of stairs and knocked on Maria's door. Knock knock sister may I come in. What is it that you want from me today sister. Oh Maria why are you spicy today. Maria couldn't help but laugh at her sisters terrible way of trying to sound up to date. Okay okay Maria I get it I'm funny as she started to laugh along with her sister. Are you almost done packing Maria. Oh yea I just have some clothes to pack up then I'm all set. Okay well I'll let you continue on. As Leilani was about to leave her sisters room Maria called out to her "Do you think this island life idea is a good thing." Leilani thinking for a moment said to her sister, You know Maria our grandparents lived there our mother and father grew up there and they even fell in love there. So I would say yes I think it's a good idea. Okay lei I hope so. As I was walking out of Maria's room I couldn't help but think was going back to where they grew up a good thing . Deep in thought Leilani didn't realize that her mother had been calling her name. Oh coming mother she says. Back in the kitchen she could smell the food her mother had cooked. Mmmmm mother what did you cook for our last meal in pribora. It's Just chicken Alfredo. Oh honey my favorite. Oh father you had scared me I didn't realize you were home. I just got home my last day at the hospital ended they didn't want me to leave but of course I needed to. Leilani could you get your brothers and sister. Oh yea father. Walking up the stairs I called for them. Of course being my brothers they run down the stairs and well Maria she walked with me. As we get to the kitchen they were all seated and were waiting for us. We both sat in a chair and began eating. While they were eating their father began talking "Tomorrow we will all need to be up by 8 am if we want to make it to BurdersWell. Yes father we all say in unison. That dinner continued with laughter and conversations. Soon not after they were finished one by one they went to their rooms. Later that night leilani was about to go downstairs to get a late snack when she over heard her father and mother talking. Derrick do you think going back is a good thing? Ariella it's been a couple of centuries I don't think it will be the same. Okay Derrick I hope not I want us to be safe and I don't want anything happening to our precious kids. We will be Ariella. I know you say that hoping it will help but my parents were killed Derrick so I'm sorry if I'm thinking this way. Okay let's not- before he could finish they heard a noise coming from upstairs. Leilani quietly but quickly ran to her room and hid in her blanket. Both Derrick and Ariella looked at each other and started to walk towards the stairs as they walked up they didn't see anyone. Hmm it's probably one of the them coming from the bathroom Derrick said.

Ring Ring Ring Leilani could hear her alarm going off grabbing her phone she looked at the time 7:15 am oh gosh I better get up. Getting up she hears shuffling coming from outside her room. Opening it she saw everyone moving stuff into the moving truck. She gets her boxes and put them in the truck. Hey mother Maria calls out. Yes Maria. How come we aren't talking any of the furniture we usually do. Oh we have enough furniture at the estate. Oh okay. Alright let's start getting in vehicles. Leilani hearing her father call out. Kai can you take Maria with you. And Luca will tag with me. Alec I want you going with your mother. Well what about me father Leilani says I could tag with you. Why don't you come with me her mother says. Okay. Let's get on the road now. As they leave their beloved 20 year home and city Leilani couldn't help but tear up a bit. She liked this city and it's people but she of course needed to leave. I put music in my ears and began falling asleep.

Hey hey Leilani hellooo. Opening her eyes she sees her brother Alec in her face. Alec she yelled. What do you want? We are on a ferry look. She looks around and realized they really are on a ferry. Oh my goodness why didn't you wake me up before Alec as she punches her brothers shoulder. Oww okay it didn't actually hurt. but I tried you just didn't wake up until I was in your face he laughs. I'm guessing the rest of the family is enjoying the ride She says. Yep Alec says. She gets out and looks around nothing but water. Hey Alec. Yea lei. How long have we been on this ferry. Well about 2 hours. Woah really I've been sleeping for 5 hours. Yep sounds about right. Do you know when we will get there. As she says that Maria calls out, look you guys look. Following Maria's finger she sees a huge green scenery getting closer. Well lei guess that answers your question Alec says sarcastically. Oh shut up she says. As she is staring out at the vast ocean she realizes how somewhat secluded this island is. Hmmm what secrets are you holding Burderswell she says in her mind.

Not soon after that they drive their vehicles onto the road towards Mannora key. Hmm this is actually a pretty place she thought to herself. Rolling the windows down, she could feel the wind on her face as if it was trying to talk to her.
