5 Chapter 5: The Raven.

Raven's pov.

So we got to Kaida's home. I was just standing around and looking at some stuff then she went to her uncle's room. After she did so, she went back but she looked horrified. I wonder what she saw. But eh I was pretty far from them so I didn't really know if that was serious or not so I walked outside and inhaled the fresh air, "It looks so nice here my goodness." I then stretched my wings out. Ain't that a nice name though? 'Raven' and at the same time I have the wings of a Raven but it's cool.

I look around their fields, "It's so peaceful here." Now I've been to a lot of peaceful places since I used to be a messenger but I've never seen a place like this before...It's so simple and small but it's pretty. I see a big tree and smiled since I loved climbing trees when I was little and I couldn't fly yet, "Yes!" I cheered and skipped to the tree but I didn't bother to fly up and just climbed up there to sit on one of the branches.

Kaida walks out to take a breather.

I looked at her, "She seems so calm even though she has something she has to get over..." I said to myself. It is true anyway. She's so calm even if the whole fire ability thing is resting on her shoulders despite the look this kingdom gives to sorcerers like her. And wow...for a 16-year-old with so much to worry about...she's pretty and cute. I blushed and puffed my feathers.

I kept looking at her pretty face, her gorgeous dark brown hair, and those amazing hazel eyes. Jason then walked up to her and hugged her from behind. She smiled but I can tell she didn't really expect that, asked for it at all or even gave him the right to do so. I growled and flew down behind her with my wings widely spread making myself look intimidating. Jason gulped, "I-I'll uh j-just wash some dishes for you." He stuttered. Kaida nodded at that guy, "Oh sure?" She said while looking at some flowers. I glared at him while he walked away. Kaida looked behind her, "Oh hey! It's you." She said with a cute smile.

I smiled back and tried to calm my puffed feathers down, "Uh y-yeah." I said nervously. Kaida giggled at my nervous voice, "Why do you seem nervous?" She asked. I gulped and snickered, "W-Well I'm not that social of a person." I shared. Kaida smiled and started to walk around with her arms behind her head, "Well you don't have to be nervous around me." She said. I smiled at her offer, "Y-Yeah. I guess so." I said with a smile.

Kaida's pov.

I smiled at Raven. My face started to form a light blush, "Wow..She's kind of cute.." I said to myself in my head. but its true anyway. She's cute. I cleared my throat, "So..You from around here?" I asked her. Raven shook her head, "I'm from another kingdom." She stated. I nodded and sat down on the grass, "That's cool!" I said with a small giggle. Raven sits next to me, "I guess so." She said with a cute smile. I hummed and hugged my legs, "So, You're a messenger. Right?" I asked her. Raven sighs, "Well yes but I was just forced to be one." She shared. I looked curious but worried as to why she was forced to do something she didn't want to or force to be something she's not. That's just not cool at all.

Raven's pov.

I sighed, "Its true. I was forced to be a messenger. But I dropped being a messenger two days ago and tried out being a merchant instead." I explained to her. She just nodded and looked up at the scene. The sun was setting, a Deer was eating some grass with its fawn nearby, and butterflies were fluttering their wings around some flowers. It was beautiful, "It's nice here huh." I said silently. Kaida nodded in agreement, "Yeah...Too bad the people might not like me being around for long...I know maybe tomorrow or any day they'll know and probably kick me out." She said in worry, "My home of 16 years might actually kick me out." She added. I stretched my wings and placed one around her, "That's okay...I'll be right here with you when that happens." I said in a gentle tone.

Kaida smiled warmly and scooted closer to me, "Yeah...I guess so. Thanks." She said while looking at me with the cute smile she uses. I smiled at her and continued to look at the beautiful scene with her next to me and under my wing. It felt nice to have someone like this as a friend. It's like you know you'll have someone to lean on in times on need. That's when I've decided to be there for her. Every step of the way. To protect her, care for her, and be the shoulder she could lean on when she needs one.

After a while.

I stood up and dusted my wings off, "We should head back inside. It's getting a bit dark." I said while offering my hand for her. She smiled at me cutely and took my hand. I blushed and pulled her up gently and we both walked back to the house together. As we walked in, her uncle was up. She tensed and groaned for some reason. I waved, "Hello sir." I greeted him. He smiled at me, "Oh hey. A new friend of Kaida? I'm her uncle Elrick." He stated. I nodded, "Greetings. I'm Raven and yes I am a new friend." I said with a smile. He waved at me too, "A timber wing huh." He said when he noticed my wings and the small bits of feathers on my cheeks. I nodded, "Yes sir." I agreed.

Mister Elrick seemed like a nice man. I smiled and sat down and decided to clean my wings. Ignatius then looked at me and sits on my lap, "Oh hello there little guy." I said as I picked the small dragon up. Ignatius puts his paw on my nose and looked at my eyes, "Huh. Yellow eyes. Must be sharp ones too." He said in a fascinated tone. I nodded and giggled, "You seem to like it's your first time seeing a Timber wing like me." I added. Ignatius chuckled and nodded, "Well it is my first time seeing a Timber Wing as a Raven."

I titled my head. Ignatius seems like a wise dragon so I was surprised it's his first time seeing a Timber Wing of this kind of bird. I giggled, "Well aren't you the cutest little thing." I stated and rubbed his belly. Ignatius snarled but purred anyway, "Keep it up." He ordered. I smiled and kept doing so. He's like a cat who loves belly rubs. It's so cute and adorable. I yawned. Jason then attempted to touch my wings out of curiosity. I growled, "Don't even think about it." I said with an angry look. I didn't really trust him since he was acting too close to Kaida or feeling close to her. What? she's my crush so. Yet I'm not really sure if she likes me back or even likes girls so I was pretty nervous at thought of confessing one of these days with her.

Jason backed away, "O-Okay okay." He said with a nervous and scared tone. I rolled my eyes, "Why'd you even want to touch my wings?" I asked him. Jason chuckled nervously, "I was just curious, and i-its my first time seeing a Timber Wing." He stated with a stutter in his sentence. I snickered, "Well just because it's your first time doesn't mean you should just jump in as if we're close." I growled and huffed. Jason snickered nervously again. I just moved on with giving Ignatius some belly rubs. I looked at Kaida. She was just reading a book. But she still looked pretty in my eyes. Her hair covered a little bit of her face but I could still see how pretty she was. I blushed deeply and just looked at Ignatius and continued to give him some belly rubs.

Kaida sighs. Then I sniffed the air. I smelled something burning. I looked around, "Uhh Kaida? Are you cooking something?" I asked her. Kaida looks at me, "Hm? What? No." She stated. I looked at the book she was holding. It was burning with a small flame on it but it was still a little bit burned on some parts of the cover. I stood up, "Kaida! The book's burning!" I warned her. Kaida looked at the book with panic on her face, "Woah!" She exclaimed and dropped the book before it could be fully engulfed in flames.

Everybody was freaking out by then. Her uncle however was in the other room. He rushed to see what was going on and why we were freaking out, "What's going on?! What happened?!" He asked frantically. Luckily the couch was blocking the slightly burned book. Kaida snickered and shook her hands as if she was saying nothing was wrong, "N-Nothing Uncle!" She tried to cover it up but her hands were in flames but she was in pain or anything. Mister Elrick widened his eyes, "Your hands!!!" He yelled in panic. We all ended up freaking out. My feathers were puffed and everything and we all ran around panicking as if our days were ending and our lives were flashing before our eyes. It. Was. Crazy.
