Prologue

My name is Jason Herrington and I used to be a bully, targeting people for what they loved to do, watch or read. To tell you the truth, I really liked being the bad guy. But that was until I targeted a beautiful young lady who loved to read manga and watch anime all the time and actually hurt her feelings. And both our families did something that scarred me for life, got me hitched and changed my perspective of other people and what they desired forever.

How exactly did I end up getting married to this nerd AND finding the nerd within myself?

Well, this is how it went down...

I used to bully this young lady by the name of Rina Washington. She is a caucasian young lady with brunette hair, slightly tanned skin and freckles which were barely visible.

I used to bully Rina for the most stupid-ass thing: she was a weeb. Meaning that she adored anime and manga, and I used to hate her for that. In fact, I used to hate everyone who loved Japanese culture, because this was America.

I'm not going to bore you with all the details, but here's how it would go down every time:

I'd shoot an insult at Rina first. For example, I would say: "Hey, WEEBBALL!"

Every time I would say anything along the lines of that, a small group of people would gather around us.

Anyway, I would continue the insult by saying: "You don't have to carry around your own POKÉMON around!"

That was just wrong.

"It's not a fucking Pokemon!" Rina would shoot back. "It's a Digimon!"

Pokemon, Digimon, same damned thing."

I would then snatch her beloved Pikachu plush she carries around and dangle it out of her reach, taking the fact that she was shorter than me as an advantage. "You want it back so badly? Then you gotta take it from me, nerd!"

Rina would put down her My Hero Academia backpack and jump up what she thought was high enough to get her Pikachu back, but I reached up and made her miss, causing her to crash down to the ground and hurt herself! That would make everyone, including myself, laugh every time!

But fortunately for both of us, nothing on her body was broken.

Next, I would snatch her favorite baseball cap off her head and spit in it, then ram it back onto her head so that I could see her disgusted and freaked out face, which would make everyone laugh again.

Finally, I would pick up her backpack, open up one of the pockets and spit in that.

After a long fit of laughter, I would give everything back to Rina and see her off crying.

And the worst part about it was the fact that no one would ever do anything about it. Some of my classmates were too scared of me to tattle and rat me out.

Unfortunately, that was me going to college.

If you don't know, I go to the University of Kansas now, aiming for a major in graphics design and two minors; the first in acting because I want to become a successful actor on the side, and the second in business because I want to operate my own restaurant.

When I applied for KU, the dean of the institution found out that I was close to the top of my class. (Class of 2018, baby!)

Plus, some of my former teachers secretly told the dean of my habits of bullying and that I needed to be kept under close watch, which I didn't think was any of her business. And the dean is like a hawk, always watching the security cameras in the hallways, as she used to be a cop and a security officer.

I knew I needed to be careful, but one day, one fateful day, something completely life changing happened with both me and Rina. I'll explain as we go along.

But first, let me tell you a little bit about my family...

My family consists of my dad Jason Sr., my mom Marion, and my little sister Jacqueline.

The thing that separates me from the rest of my family is that my mom, dad and sister don't take bullying with a grain of salt. No, sir, they actually take it very, very seriously.

My sister was bullied by a fellow student who was almost like me. But he hated bookworms, not anime like I did. The kid was a grade above her, and was supposed to set an example for the underclassmen of her school. But thanks to his constant habit of bullying, he got expelled from the district and ended up going to military school.

When they were younger, my dad used to bully my mom all the time. He would stuff her in a locker and then leave her there for the remainder of the day. He quickly learned his lesson when he was forced to apologize to her by his school's principal, Mrs. Beechwood.

So that's pretty much my family's backstory. Now let's get on to the real story.
