11 Oh Boy

After a long silence of contemplation, Lexi spoke up again, and this time, Alex was sure he was a dead man. The anger in her eyes was evident.

He had always known Lex didn't do well with betrayal.

She had always hated people who made her feel stupid, and this time, the person on the other and were people she had loved and considered her won. People who abandoned her for whatever they were after.

She was going to let her brother know, if anything, he would understand her better than their parents, hopefully.

"y'know you turned me into a monster brother."

"aren't we all? Our family itself is chaos, and we are all monsters," Alex said, knowing so well that the life they had chosen was ever going to be a normal one.

They had forgotten about Lia, who was sitting on the couch, carelessly flipping through her phone though she was attentively listening. The siblings had already forgotten she was there anyway, so the only thing she could do was not scoff at their discussion because she already knew how it would go down.

"I found the people who tried killing you. Nikolai, the Spanish bastard, and Jillian James helped me out. I found them, and it was pretty." Lexi said, remember ring the way their blood was warm on her hands, she had watched the life fade from the eyes of the vigilantes, and she didn't care because her brother had been taken away from her.

"when? Why? I thought we made a pact that you wouldn't put yourself in harm's way, Lex…I thought I was clear when I told you that you needed to be safe. I didn't want you in that world.

You're my sister, for fucks sake.

I told you I didn't need you in that part of the world, Bella. Why? I could have sorted everything slowly when I came back" he had made her promise she wouldn't put herself in harm's way, and she did.

She broke their promise, but who amongst them was to be blamed?

"Are you fucking with me right now? When you came back? Where the fuck were you, Alexander? You were dead, Alexander. Dead. Dead people don't come back from the dead; if you need some reminder, brother.

We were supposed to face life together, but my brother was gone. And I had to seek help from the only people who could help me out and don't you even pull the brother card, because you were dead Alexander.

You made the world believe you were dead. You made me believe you were dead. If anything, you broke the first promise we made.

You fucked me over, brother. Now, don't you sit there and tell me to shit about what is dangerous and what isn't because it was all because of you." Lexi said, infuriated as fuck while Lia just watched.

It reminded her of the time when Damien and Carl were bickering, and they had to prepare popcorn hurriedly. That was the day the siblings ate corn in place of popcorn. But they couldn't just miss out on the bickering between the two.

The only difference was that Alex and Lexi were serious, while her brothers, well, they were just idiots.

"what the fuck was Ryan doing? Huh? He was supposed to be there for you. He was supposed to help you. He was supposed to be the brother when I left!" Alex fumed, all senses gone from hearing what his sister had to go through.

He couldn't believe it.

A lot had really changed, and if he had known that this is how things would turn out, he wouldn't have left; that much was an assurity.

"it seems to me like you lost your brain cells when you played dead. You talk as if he didn't have a life to lead. He was grieving in the only way he knew how. He was playing catch with gamers who couldn't pay, and he was torturing people and leaving them at the mercy of the lord.

He was ruining lives because he had lost his fucking best friend. Did you even know that Ryan's father was killed, but someone made it look like a suicide?

Or that his boyfriend, the man you both didn't tell me shit about, was murdered by the very people that were after you?

Did you know how devastated the Spanish bastard was? Having lost his brother and his best friend all in a span of six months? Everything changed, brother; now don't you sit there and tell me shit.

It was a chain reaction to your death.

We lost more than we gained, but at least we were grieving together.

We were all hurt, hell even the James bitch helped." Lexi finished as Lia slowly got her attention off her phone.

Now that she knew who her sister was, she couldn't stand it when anyone referred to her as a bitch, but just as she was about to stand up, Nick texted her telling her to sit her pretty ass down.

Of course, he had hacked into her phone, darned brothers.

This also meant that her siblings had a front-row seat to the worst drama of the year. All Amelia had to do was stay put and focused on her phone. She was going to be absent even though she was very present.

"Jia?" Alex asked. He couldn't believe it. If the almanac was their ally, then why did his sister have to step into the battlefield? What the fuck had been their role then?

"Yeah. She was there for us when you weren't. Even the fucking military showed up, but brother dearest couldn't just muster up the courage and tell us he was alive. Y'know what, fuck you, Alex. Fuck the both of you for playing with me like that.

Fuck you for taking away the little humanity I had left and fuck you a thousand times over because I can't even get the time I lost while grieving your fucking death." Alex was dumbfounded.

Why the fuck would the military be there for them?

Was it something to do with their company assets?

Did his sister sell them?

Looking at his sister, he saw she was very pissed, but so were the four humans at the door they hadn't noticed yet.
