5 When One Door Closes, Another One Opens

Later on that day Shawna was once again confronted by her mother for leaving the house without permission but this time she wasn't angry. Shawna's mother smiled and welcomed her daughter home with open arms. "Hi Shawna, where did you go?" her mother asked politely.

Shawna didn't know how to react to her mother's odd behavior. "Is this real?" Shawna wondered. She pinched her thighs to make sure. "Aren't you angry at me?" Shawna asked curiously. Her mother giggled and replied "No, no, I know what you've been hiding from me lately. Ethan spilled the beans hehehehe".

Shawna turned her attention to her little brother and tried guessing what he told mom. "So how was your day with your boyfriend? You really should tell me these things you know. I would hate to interrupt a teen's romance life" Shawna's mother said happily. Shawna was stunned by her mother's genuine smile. She almost felt like crying a river. "Romance life? Ethan told you about Terry then" Shawna sighed depressingly.

Her mother nodded and said "You should bring him over when he gets discharged from the hospital okay. I would love to meet him".

Shawna lowered her head and shed tears in front of her mother and her brother. "What's wrong Shawna? I tried my best to make you happy today and you're crying" Ethan said annoyed. "Is something wrong Shawna? Tell me everything" her mother said worriedly. Shawna fell down on her knees and screamed "Terry is dead! They haven't announced it yet because they are still trying to find the cause of death".

.....

The house went silent. No one spoke as Shawna stayed on the floor crying while her mother and younger brother looked at each other speechless. They tried to comfort Shawna but it was too late. Treating her like somebody now won't change what she has become. A MONSTER!

She went up to her room and sobbed about Terry's death for the entire day. Shawna's mother told her that she is no longer grounded.

"Hmmmm, Terry there was so much I wanted to know before you go like how you get hospitalized. You always seem to dodge that question" Shawna thought to herself. She hid a rope under her bed in case she ever wants to leave permanently. "I can't use that now. I don't feel fulfilled yet" Shawna said strongly.

The next day news got out about The Cruez's Death and disappearance.

"Xavier Cruez was found dead in the bathroom of Heathens Arcade. The CEO of Cruez's Path Ronald Cruez is no-where to be found. He was last seen in the Heathen's Arcade bathroom as well. The Arcade has been closed down until the matter gets resolved"

Shawna overheard everything Ethan was watching on television and frowned. "I haven't heard Terry's death go on the news. Why should I have to hear about those two clowns?" Shawna thought upsettingly. "I can't believe I forgot to undo Xavier's father invisibility. Well it will wear off eventually. At least this way I can know how far it can go" Shawna sighed. Ethan walked up to his sister in the kitchen and glared at her.

"That guy who touched you is dead. Xavier if I'm not mistaken. How do you feel?" Ethan asked curiously.

Shawna replied with her hands slamming the counter. "I couldn't be happier! I wish I killed him myself!"

"Neat, at least you can live better now. I will try my best to convince mom to transfer you I promise. You can start a new" Ethan suggested. Shawna thanked Ethan for his help then went upstairs. Two months later it was Terry's funeral day.

Shawna went to the funeral dressed in black and had on a white hat. She stayed closed to Terry's mother offering tissues whenever she started crying. While she stayed by her side Shawna learned new things she never expected of her deceased boyfriend. The fact that Terry had so many siblings but none of them bothered to pay him a visit in the hospital is concerning to Shawna. She also learned that Terry was a below average student in school. That surprised her because he always seemed to be pretty smart around Shawna. The most important thing of all she learned from Terry's mother was how he got hospitalized.

"Terry got into a fight with his friend Shawn over something stupid. Terry thought Shawn stole his phone but he was completely in the wrong for just assuming that. Shawn was in the moment and pushed my son in the road and he got hit by a truck. Terry was already a weak and sickly boy so you could imagine how happy I felt when I heard he survived" Terry's mother said.

Shawna's heart ached with every word that came out of the woman's mouth. "Shawn's the one that did this to him? That guy is so dead!" Shawna thought to herself.

"When's the last time you saw this boy? Do you know where he lives?" Shawna asked curiously.

Terry's mother neglected to answer that question.

When the funeral was almost over Ethan just arrived in a grey suit. "I didn't know you were coming" Shawna said surprised to see her brother. "I wasn't planning to but there was a helpless looking guy that needed help getting here" Ethan said pointing at the guy behind him. Shawna looked up to see a boy around her age with black canoed hair and black eyes wearing a black suit. Shawna recognized the boy and greeted "Good evening Cj"

"Evening, you knew Terry?" Cj said doubtfully.

"Yes, I'm his girlfriend" Shawna blushed. Ethan left the two to talk privately to one another. "It's weird how Terry never mentioned you like ever" Shawna said suspiciously. "Seriously, cuz he's mentioned you over the phone a bunch of times. He said the name Shawna but I never imagined that you were the one he was talking about. A weak and vulnerable girl like you doesn't look compatible with Terry" Said Cj harshly.

...…

Before Shawna could reply Cj stated "Although we will never know since he is dead. I wondered how this happened"

"The doctor said it was the effect from the surgery" Shawna added. Cj frowned at her response. "His recovery was a success. His body was able to move freely now and he could even run around the hospital. I bet he was going to be discharged soon. Can a surgery that happened three months ago just suddenly affect him like that without the doctor that does daily checkup know?" Cj asked curiously.

"I don't know, I am just telling you what they told me" Shawna answered.

"See that you're still WEAK. That's a shame, you do look better than last time at least" Cj said softly. "Keep calling me weak and I might have you on the chopping block sir" Shawna thought to herself furiously.

When the funeral was over Cj and Shawna paid their respects to Terry's mother before heading home together. "Hey" Cj said suddenly.

"What?"

"The day Terry died; did you receive a call from a stranger that morning?" Cj asked suspiciously. Shawna stopped cold in her tracks struck by Cj's question. "I did! An unknown number called me that morning but I ignored it" Shawna said shocked.

"Ha, you should have answered. You could have heard Terry's final words then and there. It was a stranger's number by the name of Shawn. Reminds me of your name hmmmm. We are planning on meeting tomorrow. Wanna come?" Cj asked kindly.

"Shawn? Another friend of Terry that I didn't know about. Why didn't he tell me?" Shawna wondered. She accepted the invite and exchanged numbers with Cj.
