9 Young Tribe Leader

After getting his mind working again, Key Stroke hurriedly pulled the old man off the ground. "Tribe Leader, quickly get up! Don't disgrace yourself like that. As a leader, it's insulting to have to bow to others." He told him speedily.

The old man had really gone insane to treat his body like that when he was already on his last legs. Even if the old man was okay with dying because his people had gained the protection of a group of Adapters, he still needed the old man's insight regarding the world.

Their group of students knew nothing about the world outside and its vast dangers. What if there were more dangerous things in the world like giants animals? Or even more worrying, what if there were still humans while their group of students had instead become specks.

The possibilities were endless, so he wanted to avoid walking blinded in this land. "Tribe Leader, have the people get up, I am still me. Forget about this Divine Being thing." He advised the old man. "Yes! Sorry, I had lost myself in the moment. Everyone you may stand. The Young Tribe Leader has spoken as such." The old man informed, switching to his native tongue.

Soon, all the tribesmen rose to their feet. And yet, the air and way they carried themselves had changed. None of them dare to look Key Stroke in the eyes. It was like they were afraid they weren't worthy too.

Their actions, only farther creeped out the students and Key Stroke, as they were used to people having a healthy individuality. Where they were from, even if the king or queen of a country came to visit them, all they would do was be shocked a little before going back to their usual selves.

No formalities of bowing or only speaking when spoke to would have happened. Of course, these actions would have been considered rude, but it would also have been expected of the people to respond in that way when seeing royalty for the first time.

The old man even followed up with more surprising words. "From today forward, our tribe shall have a new leader. Greet the Young Tribe Leader!" He shouted. Key Stroke, Black Bourne, and Donn Kell, all understood the old man halfway through his speech.

It had taken them no more than a few words to understand the tribe's language completely. Compared to the old man who took hours to grasp their language, one could already tell just how amazing their results were to finish the Divine Door's testing in the amount of time they did.

This time, the tribesmen took a kneeling position with their heads bowed. It was a scene usually seen when knights would swear their loyalty to a lord. Key Stroke could only sigh quietly. Did the old man need to insist on embarrassing him?

"We are willing to obey the Young Tribe Leader!" They all announced. "Okay! Okay! No more insanity. We should focus on what to do next." He said, trying to switch their attention to other things and avoid the awkwardness that was forming.

"What do you wish to do?" The old man asked. "Hmm... since it's too late to travel back, why not explain this Adapter thing to us in more detail. Earlier you said that we would be able to understand more once we became Adapters but I don't feel too much of a great change besides feeling stronger." Key Stroke stated.

During his time inside the passage of the Divine Door, he didn't remember too much of what happened. The only thing he could recall was that it felt as if his body was being remade to something stronger with endless potential for growth.

He even got the feeling that he wasn't fully qualified to be called an Adapter like something was missing that he still needed to achieve. "I see." The old man said. "The truth is, the blessing from heaven only gives us specks a chance to be a true Adapter. I myself, am a titleless Adapter. Without a title to express who you are, your potential to be a true Adapter will be limited." He continued.

Taking inside the words spoken, Key Stroke also felt what the old man had said was right. The incomplete feeling he was experiencing was not having gained a title. Something that set them apart from others like themselves.

The group of students, on the other hand, wasn't taking the news so well. How hard had the Divine Door' testing been? Now they had to believe there was more? Don't joke!

The before delirious boy voiced his rage at the unfairness. He didn't care that when leaders were speaking and having a conversation, it was insulting for someone with lower status to talk, let along interrupt the conservation.

Of course, this was understandable for his actions. Before coming to this unknown place, he was just a high school student. Formality wasn't regarded as top priorities in their school. The only ones that they needed to show respect to were the adults teaching and supervising the school.

Furthermore, Key Stroke was just another student to him, and a younger student at that. Why would he treat it as two adults talking about something important when one was clearly a child being advised by an adult? He and Key Stroke were of the same status after all.

Sadly, this was not the way the old man and the tribesmen would take the outburst. "What do you mean being half an Adapter? Then what was the point in going through that humiliation? Do you think I stayed on my knees so long for nothing? I should be Superman now!" He tempered tantrum.

The old man looked shocked, not just shocked but speechless that someone who was a subordinate, would have the audacity to interrupt them. Even the tribesmen were ready to poke holes into the before delirious boy. It didn't even matter that he was a titleless Adapter to them.

Looking at the raging boy with anger, the old man turned to Key Stroke. However, the words he wanted to say didn't come out. The young speck standing before him was a divine being. Did he have the right to tell him what to do or advised him on how to discipline his tribesman?

"I.." He began before staying quiet. Key Stroke naturally picked up the changed mood around the tribespeople. If he was honest, it wasn't his place to discipline the boy either. With a quick look around, he could only signal Black Bourne with his eyes to handle the matter.

Black Bourne quickly pulled the before delirious boy back while quietly telling him not to speak until they could group later. "Sorry about that. Black Bourne will take care of this matter for now." Key Stroke apologized.

"No need! No need! Young Tribe Leader! You are our leader now, and it would be okay if you wanted him to speak." The old man said. Key Stroke just nodded before letting them end the conservations there. It wouldn't be well to continue in the current situation. Otherwise, the tribesmen would think disrespectfulness was something the new leader didn't mind.

With him at least calling an end to the matter and giving them the impression that he would discipline the disrespect behavior personally, despite seeming to pass it off to someone else, the tribesmen would be more respectful in the future.

Honestly, being a leader was tiresome. Who would willingly want to take such a job?
