17 Green House

After getting over their shock, Shaw Caine began explaining to them how he thought they should be made. The original plan was to create four solidify grass columns in the four corners of the house, and then wrap the regular long grass stems together while weaving the ends together.

Next, they would lay multiple solidify grass stems on top to act a rooftop. However, Shaw Caine didn't think this simplified house version would work.

There was nothing to support the middle of the roof from caving in under its own weight, there was nothing to hold the roof in place, and there was nothing to support the bottom to keep it from breaking at its base.

Alternatively, he suggested since the Water of Stone could solidify anything it touches, why not harden the dirt around the columns? Furthermore, they wouldn't cut down the grass stems that would act as columns.

Rather, when they built the houses, they would use the already upright grass stems for support and cut the grass in the way down instead. While using these cut grass stems for the walling and saving them more time. They would also dig in the ground and solidify some of the grass stems closer to its roots.

As for solidifying the dirt, it would be used to give the grass columns a second added security to keep it in place without worrying if its base would break from being too weak and unsteady. Shaw Caine also explained that the roof needed to be flat and that they shouldn't worry about water leaks since the inside floor would be ordinary soil.

With it being a matter of the time frame, they had to accept that they couldn't use better roofing with sealing and water flow redirecting and such. Shaw Caine then finished by saying that it was okay to have pillars inside the house to hold up the roof because they could make them into walls and doorways later on when they had more time.

Skyla Betts and the rest were speechless that Shaw Caine knew so much about building structures. "My father is a construction worker who helped build a lot of places." He explained, looking away from the group's stun gazes directed at him out of embarrassment.

Hearing this, Skyla Betts couldn't help but affirmed that building things was Key Stroke's weak point compared to Shaw Caine's knowledge of the art. Nodding her head, she gave him a response.

"Okay, I don't think any of us will find a problem with the new suggestion. We will do it like this since you have a better understanding of this sort of thing, you'll take the lead of getting the housing built. And I'll make sure you have all the supplies you need while getting ready to meet the few tribes that come early." She informed him.

As she walked away with the old man and his four carriers, the old man spoke up. "I didn't understand the majority of the building process, but the young speck Shaw Caine gave off a nice vibe to him. It would seem your young group can't be underestimated indeed. I even feel more reassured that the manner about the Queen her majesty will be put to rest." He said with a wistful look in his eyes.

Skyla Betts didn't say anything but gave a slight smile of agreement as she was unsure what to say since she could clearly see the old man yearning for the days before the Queen's suppression.

Giving her cheeks a light slap which brought the old man out of his reminiscing, she ignored this as she resolved herself to be ready and firm for the matters that would be happening soon.

...

By the time the next day came sometime in the noon, the students and tribespeople had built their first house. With news of this, Skyla went to see it herself. Once she did, she was amazed by how professional and good its quality looked.

Its shape was a square with a flat rooftop like Shaw Caine suggested, the grass that gave it its green color could hardly be noticed as grass as the front sported a door that could be opened and shut. Next to the only entrance door was a small circular shaped window with no cover for air ventilation.

All in all, it looked like an average house in its basic stages. "I guess Shaw Caine is the real deal after all." Skyla Betts mumbled to herself. Just as she was preparing to enter inside to see its interior, a tribeswoman came up to her in panic. "Young Queen Skyla! Quickly meet the Tribe Leader! I saw people were marching from the east!" She finished breathlessly.

The tribespeople from the other tribes was already here? Didn't they have one more day before the earlier ones would start to show? Confused and with questions, Skyla Betts made her way to the entrance to see what kind of commotion it appeared to be.

However, at this time, the four youths who enter the Evolver Door was finally getting a feel for their power and the area they had been sent too. Or to be more exact, the three Black Bourne, Donn Kell, and Ford Sterling were enhancing their strength while searching for Key Stroke who got snatched up by an abnormal fast wolf the day before.

So far, they could do nothing but keep improving so the time wouldn't be wasted while looking for any signs that Key Stroke was near or still alive.

"This is why I told you two to pay attention when on guard duty. But no! You idiots had to find a reason to start arguing. So stupid! Both of you are sh..!!" Ford Sterling was going to continue but fell as a shallow pit made him lose his balance.

"Snort! Look whose talking mister can't keep my eyes on the road ahead." Black Bourne argued back. He refused to take the blame that Key Stoke was missing because of his own mishap. On the side, Donn Kell frown grew worse.

Trying to tune out the nuisances beside him, he examined the surroundings, trying to see if he could gain a clue to what had made the pit in the first place. During the time they had been walking about after the ground humiliation, they had ended up encountering normal wild animals that were stronger than they had any right to be.

They couldn't even tell what star ranking the animals were before they were forced to defend themselves. "Shut up and listen! Something is coming." Donn Kell coldly told them. He would not be babysitting any of them if they got in danger.

"What? You're scared of a furball? Let me handle this. I like putting losers in their place." Ford Sterling exclaimed while stepping forward. Ever since the strength in him began to rise, he started to show his real personality, an arrogant show-off.

"Let me send you to your maker little bi.." The ferocious charging beast never let him finish.
