40 Adaption Crisis Test

Key couldn't gain much insight into the testing. All he saw was the participants gathered. At the beginning, there had been a few hundred testers. Now, only sixty people remained.

With a snort at their confusion, the old man in black robes grabbed their attention. "Adaption Crisis. It will test your ability to adapt during a life and death situation. My Fang family distaste cowards and the incompetent. If you can grow stronger than your present strength, you pass. Simple."

This explanation did not clearly explain the test. But the old man didn't care to elaborate either. He simply signaled for the other supervisors to begin the testing.

Soon, every stage had fifteen participants and one supervisor. The confusion continued to grow as some began to wonder if they had to fight a supervisor to the death.

Bam!

The four stages that were round and in a square formation, changed. Four energy walls had erected, sealing the people inside the stage. Trapped, the group noticed that each supervisor was producing a wall each with their solidified ambition force.

Before questions and complaints could be shouted out, a lady in the crowd that had gone unnoticed by the majority stepped forward. All her features were concealed, except for her hazel eyes that looked lifeless. From her body, a white fog began to gather.

This fog than moved to the trapped people as it into the sealing space from the top. Following it, a pair of large eyes grew visible and filled with the intention to kill.

As the fog touched the energy walls, its intent got more powerful. In a few moments, the people inside were seen in a daze. Their eyes, unfocused. With this, the fog started to disperse, showing everyone the state of the participants.

Fear Injunction!

A technique that the Fang family used to control the weak-willed people. It was also an illusion attack that injected people with the user's will. This illusion, allowed the user to show whatever they wanted for the target to see.

The only downsides to the technique were that it couldn't cause physical harm and it needed a great deal of concentration to stay active, leaving the user immobilized.

There was also the fact that the user's will needed to be stronger than the target's, or it was pointless. And judging by the trapped people on the stage, none of them had a stronger will.

Pierce on the side, also saw that everyone on the stage was trapped. Glee filled him, as the fear of losing began to fade away. The filth might have managed to have abnormal comprehension abilities, but that didn't mean he had a strong will.

And if its will were feeble, the pressure of death would make it all the more useless. He already had an ace in the hole for this portion. It was one of the better specimens of his tamed creatures.

Speaking of which, he already saw the signs showing his superiority.

There on the stage, one of the participants escaped the illusion. "Oh! Another good one appeared." Turning to look at one of his helpers, the old man in black robes asked a question. "What are the names of that tamed speck and his owner?"

Being able to endure the illusion while growing stronger was one thing, but breaking free was even more impressive. And the current participant was also the very first one.

Wanting to leave a good impression of himself, the helper wasted no time speaking up. "That would be number 33 Sergiu and his owner happens to be a very wealthy person in Seasalt Town. His name is Pierce."

"Hmm... " Taking a hard look, the old man in black robes lips rose up.

"Good! Go kill him."

"What?" Shock enter the helper as his mouth hung open. What did he mean, kill him? A moment ago he had said 'good.' Was he satisfied or unsatisfied?

"You didn't hear me? Do you wish to take his place?" The look in the black-robed old man was cold. He truly meant to kill the tamed speck. What would the owner think?

Indeed, the owner Pierce was about ready to foam at the mouth from the words spoken. This was his ace! Was the Head Supervisor trying to make him dig his own grave? He didn't care about the speck, what worried him was the bet that he had on the testing's outcome.

"Excuse me! Please wait! I'm the owner of that tamed speck, Pierce. Maybe there is a misunderstanding somewhere. Isn't it excellent for it to have a superb will? It is something to be proud of."

Bang!

The helper was lifted off his feet as he flew and hit the barrier on the stage.

Thud!

Seeing the blood on the barrier, and the unmoving helper, everyone knew he was dead. "Hmph! Dare to ignore my words? I'm the law here! If I say die, you better be willing to kill yourself. If I say kneel, who dares to remain on their feet?"

Pierce who wanted to protest more, stopped. The man didn't even spare his own people, would he spare an outsider? Especially, an outsider who was questioning his orders? Of course not!

Standing with the crowd again, Pierce gritted his teeth. If the Fang family was going to kill their tamed specks, they should at least give them a reasonable explanation. This was plain bullying.

Not wanting to be next, the second helper that was asked, didn't delay, he rushed forward at his fastest speed while hopping over the barrier wall. With a quick glance, he saw that Sergiu had fully woke from the daze.

With a cold look, the helper gave a silent grievance about his next actions.

If you want to blame someone, you should blame your own self. This is the Fang family. The family leaders don't encourage ambitious people. They only want those willing to serve.

Sergiu didn't see the killing intent. Instead, what he saw was a congratulation on passing the test so fast and early. After all, everyone was dazed but him.

Ka-cha!

The black-robed old man continued to smile. Maybe there would be more 'exceptional' tamed specks.
