5 A Dangerous Guy

Marching through the grass field, Key Stroke spotted the fresh grass stains and dirt on the tribesmen. Looking around while straining his ears to pick up any sudden noises, he felt that the sound was always closer to his group compared to that of the tribesmen.

They would even step near grass stems at all times. It was like instead of walking forward; they were sneaking forward. He also saw some of the men give them glares as they continued ahead. He guessed their group's way of traveling was like newborn chicks in the world.

Just their way of moving gave away that they hadn't been used to this sort of environment. The tribesmen were silent and somewhat tense compared to their group who was so agitated, some would jump and look around anxiously by the slightest sound made.

The contrast was just too greatly different. Slowing down and motioning for the other students to group closer together, he informed them to calm down a little before the tribesmen decided to give in to their curiosity and ask about the strangeness of their behavior.

He also wanted them to use some dirt, and try to mask their scents but didn't give voice to it because it might slow down their traveling.

After some time, the ground took on a cracked surface look with solid gray rocks scattered. This change, however, didn't change the grass's growth in sprouting up.

Concrete!

It was worn and broken concrete that appeared to be made a long time ago. The real question was who made it and how. Was there another intelligence lifeform type of species besides humans? Not wanting to let his thoughts run too wild and lose focus, Key Stroke turned is attention ahead.

The scene ahead was when the group of students noticed, the massive wall that blocked everything in its path. With a white exterior and silver designs of different plants and leaves, the split in the middle shined with a blinding light.

Examining the wall, Key Stroke got the impression of a gate about the average size of a door from their world when comparing it to an ant, and the wall with a split being two doors of the gate that was closed.

The split was small to the point it was only large enough to fit their current sizes through one at a time. Besides the gate itself, there were no 'walls' it was securing.

Because of the enormous size, it was no wonder they had not seen the Divine Door earlier. Their distance from the gate had been too close, to discover it. "Tribe Leader, is the crack in the wall, the entrance of the Divine Door?" Key Stroke asked, having jogged to the old man.

The old man nodded. "Yes. The Divine Door does not have anything behind it. To become an Adapter and pass the blessing from heaven, you need only walk through the passage." He notified Key Stroke.

Glancing back at the other student, he stepped forward. "You all should wait here first. I will go and test it out for everyone to be sure it's not harmful." Key Stroke told them. With some voicing their disagreement to his decision like Black Bourne and Skyla Betts, Key Stroke still insisted.

Just as he was about to go, Donn Kell passed him before walking into the entryway. There was no pause in his step as he entered the wall split with his hands in his pockets. "I would have never thought he would be willing to be a guinea pig." Steele Wake said surprised.

Black Bourne snorted. "He's not! Kell only went to contradict Key's decision. Plus he can't stand others being able to one-up him. If Key had gone first and succeeded, he would become the strongest in our group."

Everyone also subconsciously agreed that Black Bourne's words described Donn Kell's personality. Not getting distracted, Key Stroke asked the old man a question. "Tribe Leader, how long does it take to know when he has qualified to be an Adapter?"

"Every individual is different. Some people take seconds while some takes hours or days. The quicker you walk through the passage, the better the blessing you can receive from heaven." He answered. "If you can not enter, becoming an Adapter is impossible." The old man continued.

"Has anyone died after entering? Does it have food to support the passage time?" Key Stroke asked, wanting to know more details to prepare himself and the others in the worse case scenario.

"A blessing from heaven would never kill. And the food is a contaminated thing, so there is no need for it." He said, looking at Key Stroke to make sure he understood. "If you want to know about hunger, the happenings inside the Divine Door is not something specks like us can understand."

Seeing as he had bothered the old man enough, Key Stroke waited for Donn Kell to come back out.

At first, when he had heard a little about the details of the Divine Door, he thought they would need to wait on the other side since the Divine Door could be entered on the opposite side as well. The old man later told him that he would come out the same entrance he began.

The thing he didn't understand was why did the old man believe it would be hard to enter inside. Donn Kell had walked in without any difficulties. But according to the old man's words, it was the hardest part to be an Adapter.

After an hour of suspense, Donn Kell walked out with his hands still in his pockets. It was like he just had a stroll through a park. There were no signs of having a hardship of any kind. Instead, if the look he gave before gave shivers, his mere presence made the hairs on one's body to stand on ends.

It was like the body was giving out a signal to avoid him at all cost. His eyes made contact with Key Stroke's before he headed over to the student group. Once he arrived, he said nothing about the happenings.

This guy honestly wasn't a team player.
