2 First Hunt

Out of the blue, Jin-Ho asked the System out of desperation.

"Hey System...do you have a way to make money?"

[Negative: System cannot answer]

Jin-Ho may now be a certified Hunter but he's in dire need of money right now. If he wants to participate in raids, he needs at least some proper weapon and equipment. The only problem is that Jin-Ho's money can barely scrape by his daily necessities.

With no other choice at hand, Jin-Ho then participated in a mining quest together also with newly registered Hunters. All they had to do is mine crystals that can be used to make weapons in an E-ranked dungeon.

Dungeon crystals are quite rare resources and they can be melted together with metal to make the steel in making weapons considerably stronger.

The association will provide D-rank Hunters that will accompany them in case a monster attack happens. The pay isn't that high but it's still better than working at a shitty convenience store.

With days of painstakingly hard work...Jin-Ho now finally has money to spare to buy himself a good weapon. However, his mouth went agape when he discovered the prices of weapons Hunters use.

'Why the hell is everything here so expensive?!'

Even the cheapest ones cost over a million won or approximately more than eight hundred U.S dollars.

All his money vanished in an instant. The only thing that he can afford with his budget is a tiny dagger. What's more...he doesn't even have a single clue on how to use such a weapon except maybe for cutting up vegetables. Jin-Ho impulsively bought the dagger since it's the cheapest one on the market.

Yu Jin-Ho is starting to regret his decision as tears swell up at the corner his eyes.

[The System noticed the host's strong emotion of grief]

"Shut up... you're not helping."

Jin-Ho went home with his new weapon and a few change in his pocket that isn't even enough to buy him dinner.

The next day, Jin-Ho's now ready to participate on a raid. He got partied up with new E-ranked Hunters as well to clear an F-rank dungeon.

The one who will guide and lead them is Gyo Yongsun, a C-rank 'Tanker'. Hunters can be varied through their different unique awakened abilities. A majority of Hunters that awakened had combatant abilities.

There are also rare non-combatant awakeners which are called Augmenters. These awakeners aren't really suited for combat since they specialize in forging weapons specifically for Hunters that they can use to fight off the monsters since modern weapons are practically more or less useless junk inside the dungeons.

They are highly valued awakeners since the weapons and items that they forge are incomparable compared to ordinary ones.

.

.

It's Jin-Ho's first time to confront a real monster so he can't really hide the fact that he's pretty nervous. The same also applies to the other first timers.

Their leader noticed their uneasiness while they are entering the dungeon so he took the initiative to lighten up the mood.

"Everyone...I know you're anxious especially since you are still yet to experience a real monster subjugation."

This caught the attention of the Hunters including Yu Jin-Ho.

"I Gyo Yongsun, as the one who leads this party assure you that I will bring us victory and we'll all safely get out of here."

Gyo Yonsun's assurance somehow caused relief to the overwrought Hunters.

Now...it's time for the hunt to begin as several goblin soldiers began appearing one after another. In just a little span of time, the Hunters already had themselves surrounded in all direction.

Jin-Ho gripped the dagger in his hand getting ready to fight.

Gyo Yongsun began to make his instructions.

"Listen everyone...they are goblin soldiers so we can easily defeat them if we all work together but always be careful."

Goblin soldiers are the weakest type of monster inside a dungeon. They have the strength and mentality of an eight year old child so even an average adult human can defeat one of them.

Gyo Yongsun initiated the fight and the rest of the Hunters began following soon after.

Jim-Ho is practically panicking on the inside but still managed to kill one of the goblins that snuck up beside him.

The feeling of digging your blade at the flesh of a human-like monster is not really a satisfying experience for everyone. Jin-Ho feels nauseated and about to throw his guts out but he gritted his teeth and still held it in.

He's shuddering from head to toe so he forcefully pinched his thigh to compose himself from the self inflicted pain. After he calmed down... Jin-Ho took a deep breath and began killing some more.

After half an hour, the Hunters came victorious with no major casualties. Everyone cheered as they successfully cleared the portal. The Hunters came out of the dungeon with a smile of accomplishment plastered in their faces.

Jin-Ho couldn't hold it in anymore as he finds an area to vomit. That experience was completely an unpleasant one for him.

Their leader Gyo Yongsun went towards Jin-Ho and lightly rubbed his back.

"You've done well Hunter Yu Jin-Ho."

"I'm honored to be complimented by a high ranked Hunter such as you Gyo Yongsun nim."

TL: nim is the highest form of honorifics above ssi.

"No need for honorifics. Just call me Yongsun since we're about the same age anyway."

"Then call me Jin-Ho also."

They introduced themselves to each other and immediately came on friendly terms.

Gyo Yongsun was quite amazed since despite Jin-Ho being a novice Hunter...he still managed to kill more goblin soldiers than the other E-ranked Hunters could. Jin-Ho however just viewed it as pure luck.

The Hunters then came back to the Hunter's Association to receive their payment and update their accomplishments.

The pay is quite big as it can let Yu Jin-Ho live without worry for a whole month. He also immediately got promoted to D-rank due to his exceptional performance despite being a newbie. With him receiving his payment, Jin-Ho returned to his apartment with an overjoyed smile on his face as he never got to hold this much money in his life before.

After Jin-Ho took a shower, a notification in the System popped up.

[Experience points from killing monsters had been accumulated]

[Leveled up by 1]

'It seems I somehow leveled up from killing those goblins.'

This made Jin-Ho curious about how much his stats has increased.

"System...display my stats."

Jin-Ho's stats got displayed on the screen but to his dismay, all his stats haven't change.

"Why is it still the same?!"

[Due to host's body being weak...stat points cannot be distributed]

"Why is there such restrictions when I only leveled up by one?!"

[Negative: System cannot answer]

Jin-Ho cussed the System again and deemed it of being a mere fraud. Just as you would have guessed, he got electrocuted again.

.

.

.

.

Jin-Ho calmed himself down then asked the System with smoke still coming out of his head due to the electrocution.

"What can I do for my stats to be distributed?"

[There are two choices:]

1. Build body up by exercising/training

2. Forced Body Alteration

Jin-Ho clearly understood the first option but he is too lazy to do some body training and it may take a very long time so he chose the second option since it's clearly the easier choice.

[Commencing Forced Body Alteration on host Yu Jin-Ho]

As the body alteration began, Jin-Ho immediately felt extensive pain striking every part of his body.

[0.003% until completion]

It's like tens of thousands of needles being pierced into his skin all at once. Jin-Ho felt like his body could shatter at anytime.

"Aaarrghh...why didn't you tell me it would be this painful!"

[Host didn't ask]

"Fuck you! You bitch System...you mothertrucker!"

The suffering he's going through is so immense...the only thing he could do is shriek in pain. The bones in Yu Jin-Ho's body breaks apart and reforms again and again. His muscle tissues keeps on ripping apart and restructures itself continuously until his whole body went numb.

He lost consciousness while undergoing the painful process of forcefully modifying his body.

.

.

.

.

It's already morning when Jin-Ho regained consciousness. His body feels heavy as he tried to get his limp self up.

After reciprocating for a little while, Jin-Ho noticed the vast change his body has undergone through. His twig-like body changed into a lean and muscular build. Not only that...his height also increased and his dark hair grew up to waist length.
