10 Chapter 10 Fight to the Death

The distance between them and the giant was getting smaller and smaller. Jin knew it was inevitable, they could not escape. In a split second he made his decision. He stopped running and turned around to face the monster, he would delay it as much as he could to give time for his brothers to escape even if he had to sacrifice his life. He had lived a very fulfilling life, even though the last few years he had been tortured he did not regret it. Because during all those times he got to experience the true meaning of brotherhood, and that priceless, it had made his life worth living.

He focused on the monster running towards him searching for a weakness he could exploit. It was getting closer and closer to him but he still could not find it. This didn't dampen his fighting spirit, he had made a decision to delay this monster even though he knew he would most likely die but this did not mean he was giving up. No, he was not gonna go down without a fight, and if he did die, he would bring the bastard down with him.

He raised his fist and leaped at the charging monster. In that split second the monster looked surprised, it had not expected its prey to turn and attack. It thought that they would keep running until they had tired themselves out. Even though it saw Jin flying at it, it did not try to dodge, it did not believe that a puny human could do it any harm. This was a decision that it would come to regret in a few seconds. As Jin's fist landed on its chest there was a "Boom!". The punch had sent them both flying. the monster landed a few metres away, its chest was torn open by the force.

Jin's situation was much worse, he had been sent hurtling through the forest landing metres ahead of his brothers, they impact of the land had caused him some bruising, but what really injured him was his own punch. The backlash of using too much power was devastating. He felt weak and kept coughing up blood. His right hand, they hand he used to punch the giant was badly damaged. The skin on his hand up to his elbow was peeled off, exposing his muscles and bones, and the bones in his hand were all crushed into pieces. It was so painful, but looking into the worried faces of his brothers, all running towards him, he held it in. He would not let them know the extent of his pain.

He felt his vision blur and turn darker. He was so tempted to just let the darkness take over. No! He shouted in his head. Snap out of it! Your brothers are still running, that monster hasn't been defeated yet. You can't give up now! The monster must die! Slowly and shakily he forced himself to stand up, supporting himself on the tree.
