11 Chapter 10: Hands

George's pov:

The darkness of night draws nearer and nearer. The streetlights that before used to light our way are slowly dying out like the rest of our population. The same thoughts drift in and out gg my head each day. How will I protect Joy when the night comes? I don't want to imagine the pain and heartbreak of losing her. It's too soon. We have to live...at least for eachother. The distant howling of wolves are followed by the screeching of birds. Every living thing is in panic, will all the same thoughts on our minds. My body instinctively moves closer and closer to Joy until I can feel the warmth of her skin. She doesn't push me away. Weird, that's never happened before. The weight of my eyelids slowly start to overpower my eyes. No, nows not the time. Taking both of my hands I slap myself away, letting out a pained groan. I turn to see Joy looking at me. Her eyes were different, I've nev Ed seen that look on her. Was she worried? About me? Nahhh that's not it. Out of nowhere, a smooth caring hand touches my cheek taking me aback with surprise.

'What the hell are you doing?' Her hands and voice let out a completely different vibe. I couldn't understand her. Why is she acting like this? She quickly retreats her hand as our eyes meet. I'm lost in her deep maroon eyes which continue to look and me up and down. Joy rolls her eyes and continues to walk fast as if nothing happened.

Joy pov:

What the-. Why did I just do that? Ahhhahahhs. You look like a complete weirdo. I continue to curse at my hand, my body had taken control for a second and now it's my mind that suffers. How awkward.
