1 Jennifer

It was any other day in most ways. The sky was a gloomy gray, rainclouds hanging over the horizon as far as the eye could see.

When Jenny woke up the first thing on her mind was work. She sat up in her bed, her small room dimly lit by the miserable light that seeped through her open blinds.

"I could quit." she murmured aloud groggily, her eyes painfully blinking open. "I could just not go in today."

That wasn't really a sensible option but sometimes she could pretend.

Her job was by no means fulfilling her dreams. She wanted to paint but instead she took calls and dealt with customers all day. The only reason she stayed was the realisation that this may be the best job she would have for a while. "The only thing bleaker than this weather is my love life." she yawned, stretching her back and pulling up the blinds before checking her phone. Messages from her best friends. Best friends she hadn't seen in months.

Angela was in Australia, studying at University and having adventures. Maya was dating her highschool sweetheart and nannying for a rich couple who flew her abroad on their business trips. Rich was.. well, she didn't actually know what Rich was really doing anymore. He was the quietest one out of the friends and the hardest to get in touch with.

Well, what did she actually expect..

While she crunched on her cereal she tried not to think about the disaster of her and Rich's relationship last year and the sour and sudden end it had taken. Tears stung the corner of her hazel-green eyes.

It was time for work, those phone calls weren't going to answer themselves..

A shower, dress up and quick make-up routine later she had left the house. She thought of what was on the world schedule.. a buzz session.. feedback on the calls.. we callbacks to actually mark.. and two new members on their team who they knew very little about other than their names that the manager had sprawled onto the progress board yesterday morning.

She hadn't been at work too herself and having new members meant that Mike, their manager, would be shifting on training them, expecting Jenny and Beth to now be able to manage better on their own.

Well.. she would see how the day would treat her..
