1 -Introduction-

The music is at its best, and I try to keep my nerves under control. More than three hours passed, during which time I drove, trying to get to New York. I was hoping that if I took the shortcut, I could get around the hellish traffic, but I was apparently wrong. Maybe right now I should have been home watching a good TV show or movie, but my mother was gone for almost two weeks, and since I couldn't find her alone, I turned to my uncle, Sam.

after my father's death, my mother decided that it was best for Edward, my younger brother, to send him to Sam. My father's death was unexpected news for us, plus the way he died was completely abnormal, which left us with many questions. although that happened seven years ago, my mother kept looking for answers with my help. I've received enough answers over time, but not exactly what was needed.

after some time of thinking, in which I reanalyzed the situation I am in at the moment, I realize that I have finally reached Sam.

I get out of the car and look at the house for a few seconds with a lot of nostalgia, reminding me of my childhood moments. I knock on the door and wait for someone to answer me. I notice that no one is making any moves, so I try to see if the door is locked. To my surprise the door is open, and I entered noisily for the rest to hear me.

sam appears from the next room and looks at me in surprise, immediately smiling and taking me in his arms.

"I didn't expect you to come."

"I wanted to call to let you know, but I thought I'd surprise you."

- What a surprise! Sam says, giggling.

- Edward?

- I think he's in his room, or he's helping Ella set the table.

- It means I arrived on time.

I enter the kitchen, where Aunt Ella and Edward are, looking at me in surprise. Aunt Ella hugs me instantly, and Edward is still looking at me, this time with a cold look.

- Hey Edward!

- Hey! I am aware that he has every reason to be mad at me, the last time I saw him was two years ago through the car window. my mother wanted to keep us at bay, because she was afraid that Edward would ask me too many questions that I would probably have missed.

"I didn't expect to see you here, Daniel!" Aunt Ella says, breaking the silence.

"I missed you, so I came ..."

- I'm really happy, and I think Edward is happy too, right?

- Yeah.

I lower my head and sit on one of the chairs, looking at Edward and only now can I realize how much he has matured. the last time I knew him he was a dwarf kid stuffed with a weird haircut I couldn't understand, but now I look down on him, a little taller than me, and I'm proud of the person who became without my help.

"If I knew you were coming here, I would have told Ella to cook something more sophisticated." Sam says as he enters the door and sits down next to me, throwing his heavy palm on my shoulder and tapping slowly, repeatedly a few times.

- This way is good too.

after a quieter meal than I expected, we retired to the living room to talk, except Edward, who preferred to go to his room to see a movie.

"How did your mother let you come here alone?" Two years ago he didn't even let you out of the car!

- That's right! Well ... my mother disappeared two weeks ago and I tried to find her on my own, but I couldn't, I didn't want to tell you anything because I wasn't sure what was going on and I didn't want to worry in vain.

"You should have told us earlier!" Are you aware of what happened to her if she was alone in a hunt and could not cope or if she was abducted?

- I really don't know what happened, I'm still confused about it. I just went shopping and when I came back, it wasn't there. I tried to call her continuously even though her phone was off.

"When was the last time you called her?" I notice that Aunt Ella's tone is more and more worried, which makes me swallow dry, without helping me feel better.

- This morning. he didn't answer, but he didn't have the phone off.

Sam took a deep breath and got up from the couch, leaving the room.

- I think it would be good to go and rest, and tomorrow we will discuss this topic and maybe we will go and look for it. Aunt Ella adds and motions for me to the stairs.

- Yes ... I think that's better.

I enter the room that Aunt Ella guided me to and I throw myself into bed, falling asleep immediately.
