1 Chapter One

I get ready for bed and check my phone for a last time. It has not been working since two days and makes weird sounds when I try to use it. I push the power button harshly out of anger and this time a very bright, white light flashes across the screen. I feel very happy to see my phone working again. But the feeling doesn't last longer when the screen displays '11:30 pm' and turns off again. Exhausted, I take a look at the clock. It strikes exactly 11:30. It's too early for me to sleep but I am way too tired to stay awake. So I switch off the lights and climb into bed. Soon after closing my eyes I hear a knock, but not on the door. I get up and sit on my bed cross legged for sometime. When I am assured that there's no one, I lay down once again. But I hear it again, louder than before. I realize it to be coming from my mirror. "Hey, who's that?" I ask trying to hold myself up. "Steph, it's me," I get a whisper in reply. Shit. With my lips trembling, I ask, "Wh-who are you? And what do you want from me?" I hear a silent giggle, "Come here," I get to my feet and reach for the mirror. I see nothing. I turn to get back to my bed suddenly when i see something in a mirror. It's not something. It's someone. I see a boy facing down. But I can't see his face.

He continues, "Never forget me," and looks up with a mischievous smirk.

I nearly fall to the ground when I see his face. It is fully covered in blood. I had never seen anything so horrific in my life.

I scream for help, "SOMEBODY HELP ME!!"

And suddenly I open my eyes as my mom continues to shake me to reality, "Get up, sweetie," I realized that I was having a nightmare and apologized for waking her up at midnight, "I'm so sorry, mom. I was having a really scary nightmare."

"Are you okay?"

"Yeah, mom. Don't worry about me. You must get back to sleep."

"Tell me if you need anything, okay?"

"Sure, mom. Good night,"

"Good night, Steph"

And with that she went away leaving me alone in my pool of thoughts.

Why does that happen so often? This was probably not the first time I had such a nightmare. I am getting these nightmares from a young age and it happens almost every night. Is something wrong with me?

Soon with all the thoughts in my mind, I drifted away to sleep.
