10 Capitulum 8 - Remember Me

"How I wish it were not, Leomord," Vexana says sadly, "how I wish it were not."

Her words lingered in his mind for awhile. It went on and on like a broken vinyl record. If he was confused just moments ago, then he is more confused now.

Is there something happening that he is not aware of? Or... has something happened already? Why did Vexana tell him that story? How is that related to his and Lunox's problem?

Millions of questions bombarded his head like a flock of birds to a piece of bread.

His questions and thoughts were only cut off when he heard a thud just outside the room he and Vexana were in.

Worried and careful, he steps outside the room, only to see a passed out Lunox by the door.

His eyes widened before– without thinking twice– he scooped her unconscious body up, and run towards his room. He opens the door with one hand, and his other to support her body from falling.

As if her body was fragile like a crystal, he sets her gently on the soft mattresses of his bed and moved away to give proper space. Approximately a meter away from her, he takes the opportunity to study and memorize her features.

His eyes moved over from her closed ones, to her button nose, to her pale cheeks, and finally, on her lips. His gaze lingered longer on her lips before he turns away to stop his worldly fantasies.

He stands up, his right hand scratching his nape.

For what seemed like a challenge to him– as it was hard to leave the sleeping lady–, he forces himself out of his room to call for the palace doctor.

---

"She'll be alright," the doctor says before moving away from Lunox's still unconcious body.

"Are you sure?" he asks, doubtful of whatever the doctor has to say. Why had she fainted, anyways?

"She probably just stressed or over fatigued. She'll be awake later on," the doctor assures him before leaving his quarters.

Stressed? What for? There's nothing to be stressed about.

Over fatigued? Why? He didn't allow her to do such tiring acts. And, she has had more than enough rest for her life. She can't just be fatigued.

Something is wrong, he knows. He can feel it.

But wait! Why is he so concerned for her well-being? There is something that he is missing right here.

---

"Leo," Lunox mumbles again under her breath.

'Why is she calling me that? I mean, that's how she called me just awhile ago but—'

"Leo IV," she repeats.

'Who is Leo IV?'

"I'm afraid I have no idea on who you are talking about, Lunox. I am not the Leo IV you are talking about," he coldly says. This talk about this Leo IV has been irking him. He's jealous. Why? He doesn't know.

"Do you really not remember who I am, Leo?" she sadly says, imminent gloom and sorrow is lacing in on her tone.

He shakes his head before turning away from her and head for the door.

"Rest."

And he leaves.
