6 Chapter Six: Randall Clark aka 'The Survivalist'

[A/N: Since the MC requires colonies, I have a few future locations in mind for a colony in Vegas, they are: Camp Guardian(North East along the River), Hidden Valley(Future location of the Brotherhood), and just above Crescent Canyon(south of the Nipton Road Pit Stop)]

The day passed as I continued to expand the plant life at Zion Valley and as I was expanding I found that someone was watching me from a distance!

How did I see this person? Simple, I could see a small campfire in the distance during the night.

And in the morning I could vaguely see someone watching my Colony through binoculars.

And I only knew of one man who stayed in Zion Valley at this time.

Randall Clark, otherwise known as the 'Survivalist'.

And I will be honest, I respected the Man.

Not only did he survive the nuclear holocaust, but he also killed the Cannabilistic Vault Dwellers from vault 22, the very same I am controlling now, that slaughtered and consumed an innocent group of Mexican Survivors.

So, I had three choices before me, Befriend him, Ignore him, or kill him.

Obviously, I was not going to kill him, and I doubt I would be able to Ignore him forever, so that left me with only one option I would gladly take, Befriend him.

And If I remember correctly his wife, who is probably the last survivor of Vault 22, is still alive and well.

So, what can I do to gain their trust eventually their friendship?

Then I had an idea of what I could do first.

So, using my stored energy I began creating Vine Fruit.

With the cost being 25 Energy per fruit, I could only create around 12 Fruits.

The Vine fruits were all giant red fruits the size of an apple.

Their texture was much like grapes and their flavor was sweet and sour.

Making sure that Randall was watching I began putting the fruit into a wooden crate in the camp and then waited for the night to arrive.

Once night arrived I had a Spore Carrier sneak out of the place and then sneak up to Randall's camp with the crate in hand and a note on top.

Nearing the camp I could see a small campfire through the eyes of the Spore Carrier and as I neared I found a man who was nearing his 50's and laying on his side on an old bedroll.

[A/N: Randall is currently 46 years old]

Propped up against a stump, was an Old Service Rifle.

A rifle I immediately recognized, 'The Survivalist's Rifle', a unique Service Rifle that could be found next to Randall's Skeleton in Fallout New Vegas's Honest Hearts DLC'.

Just as I had the Spore Carrier place the wooden crate down and turn around to sneak away in the night, a sick crunch echoed into the Spore Carrier's ears as my Spore Carrier stepped into a bear trap hidden within the dirt.

Although my Spore Carrier didn't scream or howl, Randall still woke up...

...

[A while ago, Randall Clark's POV]

Laying on a roll of fur next to my wife, Sylvie, in our home, Cueva Guarache which is a cave, I lazily got up from the roll.

Stirring from her slumber, Sylvie awoke due to my motion.

"Where are you going?" Sylvie asked rubbing her eyes.

"You know where, we need to make sure that no one else has moved into the Canyon in the last couple of months, besides I will only be gone for at most three days," I told her seriously.

"Now get dressed, we don't want you to catch a cold," I told her seriously before getting dressed.

Once dressed I grabbed a duffle bag, put some basic supplies in it and even a 10mm Pistol I looted off a Vault Dweller.

After I had everything packed I ate breakfast with my wife before grabbing my rifle.

"Be safe!" shouted Sylvie as I exited the cave.

Although I was 46 this year and nearing 50, my body was still as strong and healthy as a horse.

I had no problem traveling in this harsh canyon, and neither did Sylvie.

In these two years that I have known her, I have taught her many things from planting and harvesting crops to surviving in a harsh environment like this Canyon.

The easiest way to see everything in the Canyon was by climbing Sun Sentinels which was a large natural formation that lies directly at the Canyon's center.

And after a day of walking and hiking, I reached the top of the natural formation.

As soon as I reached the top I had to scare off a couple of animals that occupied the top.

But once that was done, I put down my duffle bag and pulled out my Binoculars.

With a sigh, I then spent the whole day looking over the Canyon until I finally shifted my eyes towards the abandoned camp of those cannibalistic bastards.

And what I saw shocked me.

Although life returned to the canyon, I did not expect to ever see such...green ever again...

All I could see was some grass and the vines growing on the wall, but due to the darkness that crept over the canyon, I could not see much else.

With night arriving I set up some traps and trip-wire alarms before setting up my camp for the night.

As I slept I had a nightmare.

I was watching over a group who entered the Canyon, women, men, and children...

Then the Vault Dwellers arrived.

Over a hundred Vault Dwellers wearing a blue jumpsuit with a golden 22 on their backs.

Then I found myself looking over their camp and watching as they ate the body of a cooked Mexican child and the child's mother...

They were the last...They had eaten every man, woman, and child...

In a rage, I started a long brutal war of attrition and killed as many as I could before forcing them to flee from the Canyon.

Then after some months, I found a Vault Dweller from their group who separated from them and stepped into a bear trap.

Instead of listening to the voices in my mind screaming to kill her, I instead treated her to health.

Over the course of two years, I fell in love with her and treated her as my wife...

I then awoke in the morning before packing up and eating some dried meat and fruit.

Descending down the natural formation I headed for the place I saw green life to get a closer look.

[A/N: This guy's story is depressing and sadly realistic, in a post-apocalypse where edible food is rare and no laws dictate society many would resort to cannibalism either due to their weakness or their own hunger...]
