13 Ch. 13 Soup, wonderful soup

He stirred the warm chicken broth in the steaming hot pot. He tried to expertly pour the egg mixture in the broth and make small strings of eggy noodle. However he poured too fast and stirred too slow, the mixture made large stringy clumps. He chopped up the bok choi, carrots and various other veggies and put them in the soup as well.

Beside him Isaac carefully pinched together and expertly twisted closed another homemade won ton. They cooked together in silence the sounds of a busy kitchen filled the house as well as the voice of Gordon Ramsey on the large flatscreen televison in the living room. Beneath it the fire crackled softly.

Isaac thought the house felt more homey now that Spencer was here and had coaxed him into cooking. Isaac would never admit it to Spencer but he enjoyed his company. He was... quite a different persona than Isaac was used to being around. His only friends were co-workers and online gaming friends. He didn't know many people outside of those areas; but he had to admit to himself, he wished he had friends like Spencer.

"I have a feeling this will taste really good." Spencer said enthusiastically as he turned to Isaac. Isaac looked at his smiling face. He didn't know what to say, but he could sense Spencer was lying. He walked over carefully and looked into the steaming pot of soup. All he could see was normal egg drop soup before his glasses fogged over. He looked up at Spencer,

"Looks good to me." Spencer chuckled.

"Looks to me like you can't see a thing!"

"Well... It only matters what it tastes like correct?" He said removing his glasses and rubbing them with a cloth he had handy in his shirt pocket. Spencer stared at his face with an intensity that made Isaac feel uncomfortable. Isaac looked up to meet his gaze and placed his glasses back on the bridge of his nose. "It's called heterochromia iridium, and its hereditary. I know it's odd, but I was born with it. I would appreciate it if you wouldn't stare too much."

"I know what it's like to be different." Spencer said, his yellow eyes glowing in the dim room. The fire light so complimented his golden gaze. Isaac looked away embarrassed that he had forgotten Spencer's golden iris'. Spencer sighed softly.

"I bet you already know this, but I was born with Amber eyes as they call it. The dominant pigments of my iris are Eumelanin and Pheomelanin causing the golden color. I bet you think you're alone in understanding complex things but people might be smarter and more relatable than you think," Spencer paused and smiled at Isaac, "if you'd only give them a chance."

Isaac blushed and hesitantly asked, "Like to whom are you referring?"

Spencer smiled, and he smiled so wide he closed his eyes to reveal his straight white teeth. "Me of course! Now let's eat some food!"

He set the table with help from Isaac who got the silver ware. When everything was set up they both dished themselves up and began to eat, smiling at eachother as they took in the first bite. Both their faces were green in an instant. Running in different directions they both went to sinks to spit out the horrendous tasting food.

Wiping their mouths, they threw out the food and cleaned the dishes. Quickly Isaac reached for his phone,

Ring...

Ring...

Ring...

"Hello this is Alice from Pizza Palace, how can I help you?" Came from the other side of the phone.

"Yeah... Can I get a pizza?"
