Bride.

On the night of her wedding, Miranda Hudson sat on the edge of the bed with a bitter taste in her mouth that extended deep into the bottom of her heart.

The bedroom door was abruptly pushed open before she could ponder any further. Slightly drenched, Richard headed straight for the bathroom without sparing her a second glance.

When the bedroom door opened, Miranda's entire body tensed up.

"Have you called her?" Richard spoke tonelessly.

"I… I called my sister, but her phone was off." Miranda felt her throat tightening as she resisted the urge to cry.

Miranda lowered her eyes and replied softly, "I am just wondering why you can't find her with your resources and power...ouch, it hurts!"

Before Miranda could go on, Richard leaned closer to her and held her chin in his hand, staring at her fiercely.

"Does the Hudson Family think I'm so easy to fool?" He tightened his grip on her chin, causing a sharp pain in her jaw. Miranda's tiny hands clenched into fists in her sleeves.

Miranda took a deep breath after the man disappeared from the room.

"Crazy! What should I do?"

Miranda grabbed fistfuls of her hair and pulled at them in agitation. What else could she do?

Three days ago, Richard's men had broken into the Hudson house and threatened if they don't find his fiancee, they will see the destruction of the Hudson family. At last, what she was fearing the most happened. Her stepmother forced Miranda to marry Richard using her grandmother's life-saving money. She had no choice but to comply to save her family.

The next morning Miranda dragged her lethargic body to the bathroom and took a shower.

"You're up! change your clothes. You have to greet Mom. Since you are here in Levi's place, you should take on the duties of a new daughter-in-law too," Sophie said commandingly, approaching the walk-in wardrobe.

Sophie was Richard's youngest sister, who attended the same high school as her. They are not close friends.

Looking over at Miranda, Sophie sighed, "Are you going to the countryside? You are now Richard's wife. Don't embarrass my brother with such shabby clothes. There are some dresses in the wardrobe. Go and choose something for yourself."

Miranda sprinted to the walk-in wardrobe without a word. As soon as she entered the room, her mouth look agape.

There is no sense that Levi fled away from her wedding. She could enjoy her life without moving an inch of her body.

Miranda saw a beautiful middle-aged woman sitting on the sofa after coming downstairs simply looking at her with a sweet smile.

"Hello, mother" Miranda greeted the woman politely.

"Miranda, come here." The woman waved at Miranda.

"This is a gift from me," said Miley in a delightful voice, brushing Miranda's cheek lightly.

Miranda swallowed dryly when she saw what Miley was holding in her hands. A necklace studded with diamonds and a pair of silver stilettos.

"Miranda didn't deserve to be a member of the Fuller family." An annoying female voice sounded. Miranda didn't have to raise her head to know who it was.

"Amelia, Go upstairs," Miley ordered.

"Mom, I don't understand why you had even suggested this stupid idea." Amelia glared at Miranda.

"Amelia, Don't you hear me?" Miley reprimanded Amelia as she frowned.

Amelia sat down and remained silent.

Turning to Miranda, Miley said, "Don't hesitate. Accept it," Miley said. She placed the box in Miranda's hand gently.

"Thank you, Mother" Miranda paused with a stiff smile.

"Richard has been in poor health since he was a child. Since you have married him, you should take good care of him in the future."

"I will" Miranda replied slowly.

-----

"Don't you hear that I am hungry?" Amelia glared at Miranda.

The Fuller villa was not short of servants, but Amelia ordered a newcomer who had just married into the family to prepare lunch.

"Please wait for ten minutes," Miranda said.

Even though the woman was making things difficult for her on purpose, she couldn't fight back for the time being.

"As expected, you're simply unpresentable!" Amelia raised her chin disdainfully. Soon after that, Richard returned from his company.

As Amelia smiled and asked him to have lunch, he turned around and immediately saw Miranda bustling about in the kitchen with an apron on.

"She insisted on preparing lunch herself. Perhaps she wants us to taste her cooking," Amelia said.

Richard went upstairs without saying a single word making Amelia's face lit up in delight.

"Miranda Hudson, Don't ever dream that my brother will fall for you." She sneered in her head.
