8 #8: Something Sweet
I finally got my control, Jia Li was still shivering and trying to push me away. I saw myself, I had torn her outer clothing, There was nothing visible but, I guess I hurt her pride and her self-respect. I stopped and she looked at me crying.
It made me feel pathetic.
"I am sorry, I don't know what came over me. I apologize to have not regarded you personal feelings.", I said.
She didn't respond but just sat beside me. I was feeling dizzy. It was coming back. I couldn't let go of my control now. So, I cut a line on my palm and pressed it even more. It wasn't that much painful, but enough to keep me awake.
Jia Li fainted. She is sensitive to blood... I guess. I tucked her in and was pondering as to what I must do next. It is surely not a coincidence, the one who gave me the wine. It had to have aphrodisiac. But who gave it to me? Argh! I can't remember anything.
What would be the purpose of making me sleep with her? I just lied down beside her and began thinking. When suddenly, a few assassins came through the window. I remained still as though I were sleeping. The assassins came over, and were about to take out a knife.
I got up and fought. It was tiring. I couldn't move my body as I wished. Then, I got it. I was given a sweet aphrodisiac. Not the lethal one where I may die If I don't satisfy myself. I understood the purpose too. They didn't mean to give me an aphrodisiac, but a drug which induces drunkeness and slight aphrodisiac property, where the overall senses are shut down.
No wonder I didn't feel their presence. I somehow managed to kill them all. But it was no more a room, but rather a battlefield. The blood splattered everywhere....
What could I do? My control is rather weak now. Suddenly Xiao Li, along with few guards came and saw the whole scene.
"Huang Lei! I am sorry! It was my fault that you were attacked!", he said.
"Relax, It is not your fault, I was the one who asked you to stay away. But, please clear up all these bodies, and clean up the blood. Jia Li can't tolerate blood. Make sure no one knows of this.
Plant the bodies in such a way that it appears as if you all have ambushed them nearby. This will make my attacker annoyed. He wouldn't sit still and will surely try again. Then we can see who it actually is.", I said.
"Yes, My lord", all of them said at once.
It took a while, but soon the room returned to normal, I dozed off near the chair. It soon became morning, the drug wasn't completely worn out, but I could manage if I would ignore the fact that my arms felt sluggish.
Jia Li got up and looked at me with fear in her eyes. I didn't like it. I sat beside her and apologized once again. Her expression changed as she forgave me. She looked at me once again but with a mischievous glint in her eyes. She smiled and said, I don't mind.
Xiao Li came in with a really cheerful smile and said,
"I have done as you told my Lord!",
"Yes, you may go now.", I said, by hugging Jia Li, So that he couldn't see her. Her clothing wasn't proper! How could Xiao Li come in like this!
"Sorry My lord", He said glumly, realizing that he would have to do some heavy punishments for his blunder.
I hugged her till he left. I slowly moved my hands away from her and saw her, Was she disgusted? or afraid?
But her eyes were shining more than ever. She patted my back and told,
"I understand, I get it. You guys have my support no matter what obstacles you have! I will always support you.", She said.
It was weird. I don't know why I didn't like that feeling. I was about to ask what she meant when she hugged me tightly saying,
"It is alright, you can go do what you must, He does feel lonely. I will play my part of wife of General well! Don't worry! This is not unnatural. It is true love!", she began blurting out.
Before I could ask what she even meant with those poetic confusing words....
"Milord and Milady, it is time to get up!!!", few servants entered the room.
It was awkward, I was barely dressed and nor was Jia Li, we both were in a sort of embrace, It was... obviously a misunderstanding.
*After a while*
"My General! We have received information that the General's mansion is totally prepared and habitable! When will you leave milord?", Guan, a shadow guard asked me.
"We shall leave after two weeks"
"But, Milord. It is too late. The mansion takes a while to get to and it might take up a whole month till you are finally settled in"
"No, I won't change. It will be a while till Jia Li is able to leave her family here.", I said.
"Milord, Are you planning to also take the lady?"
"Yes, Of course."
"But Lord! Madam will only slow us down! For sake of her, we would need to stop frequently and search lodging! It will take us over a month! You can't let her drag you down!"
"Guan! Do you forget who owns you?", I said sternly
"You, My lord."
"Yes, You are my servant, and Jia Li is my lawful wife, the wife of the General. Not respecting her is equal to disrespecting me. Do you dare to disrespect me?"
"No, My lord."
"Then, it is fixed. Start the preparations for the travel, plan our routes and escape routes in case of ambushes. With Jia Li's safety included."
"But-"
"As a matter of fact, complete it all by evening and report to Jia Li as her guard tomorrow. You shall serve your mistress directly. Got it? No excuses"
"Yes.. Milord.", he said scowling.

Jia li P.O.V
I knew it!!! The General surely loves Xiao Li. The way they looked at each other!!! marvelous! They must be hiding their love for each other due to this stupid rules of society which give no regard for true love!!
After my Bath, I was welcomed by the mother of the General, She was very sweet. She gave me many dried persimmons and delicious stuff. I sound like a kid but not a problem. The Lei Family mansion is so well maintained.
All the servants are sweet, I got two new servants, two girls along with Xin Xin, one named Lu Lu and the other named De De.
"Where is the General?", I asked Madam Lei(my mom in law)
"Huh! He is probably holed up in his new trade building, doing work... He doesn't even stay at home when he has such a cute wife.", said Madam Lei
"I am not that cute... I have a big scar near my eye, I have normal features, I am neither too chubby nor thin....", I said glumly
"No, my dear daughter, that scar is beautiful, It shows your bravery. It is like a memory. Coming to the fact of feature, you do have no special features but your eyes show honesty. That is more important."
"Yes", I felt a bit secure. Everyone would say the same thing, but these words from Madam lei, makes me feel proud of my scar.
"I am talking out of experience dear. I hate betrayers and liars, I would prefer an honest infertile woman, over a lying beauty who can give me grandkids.", She said. Something told me she hates liars, not as normal hate, but destroy you hate, that too with grace.
"Yes Mother.", I said
She blushed and said me to enjoy my stay.
I basically had no work to do, So, I began writing. A romance novel. The forbidden love of a master and his servant. It is so good!! Obviously, It is based on my husband and his servant. But, I changed the role, I made Huang Lei a scholar, and Xiao Li, a servant who is rescued by him.
Just imagine it, Xiao li actually a foreigner slave captured by the barbarians. They put him in those games where he had to fight with three beasts. Our scholar Huang Lei, acting undercover to find out officials who are betraying country chances upon this scene, where he first felt admiration for that one warrior.
Wow! I can't believe it. I am a pro already!!! I began writing. It is a tedious work. To write beautifully, in order for people to understand. Though I may not know embroidery and music, I certainly know how to write beautiful letters, I once wrote a report mimicking father when his hand hurt.
No one guessed otherwise. Hahahaa.... I am great~
"Xin Xin, Can you get me more empty books?"
"Yes, Milady"
*After a while*
"Milady, there are no more books, The only ones available are near the Madam and General."
"Did you ask Big brother Qing Lei?"
"yes. The Lord had none left, He ordered it today, It might come by tomorrow as there is a shortage in the capital."

"Stupid protestors! Were there any casualties?"

"It feels as though the protestors are targeting my debut as an author rather the General's promotion."
"but, milady, I prefer you don't write such books. If the Madam finds out, it would be dangerous."
"It doesn't matter Xin Xin. I will earn money from writing. It is the only skill I have. I will take upon the job of copying books, anyway I am quite free. I might as well make some money."
"But-.. As you wish.. But, where will you get an empty book from? The next stock might come tomorrow, but I doubt the steward will let you take one without the knowledge of Madam."
"Hmmm... I can't wait till tomorrow. If I wait, I am surely going to forget."
"Then What to do Milady?"
"Xin Xin, Let's go on an adventure!!"
"A what?"
I pulled Xin Xin to the study of Huang Lei. It would be dangerous to go to the Madam's study. There would be more eyes watching. But My husbands' study is mine... Right~?
"Xin Xin, keep a watch. I will get a book."
"Yes, Milady, Please hurry though."
"Yes yes..."
I went inside, it was a boring room, with no interesting stuff, I remember, my brother when he was Huang lei's age, he had many of those kind of books~ hehe~*{9u9}

I was surfing through, I finally found them, ten perfectly stacked empty books, I took two, and suddenly another book fell, it was
'The imperial year 378.', Omg! Is it~ what I think it is~...
Of course! It is gotta be a diary! I opened it... It is not violating privacy, just seeing what he writes about... I promise I won't judge him!
'Entry1: There was a war.... The minister.... someone..... I killed.... Mother did.... Father grave...'... Ok It is boring Let's skip.
'Entry98: Girl.... Yu.... Emperor.... Jia Li.... Night...", Omg~ He wrote about me huh...
'Entry99: So much work.... stuff"
'Entry 101: Marriage.... Jia li.... Taste good???', Wtf?? He did what? I turned red... I went on reading and I realized. He was under a drug. I don't quite remember the details as I was drunk! Omg!! This is what happened????
Suddenly a hand wrapped around me and another took away the book from my hands.
"What are you doing here Jia Li?",
I looked up and saw Huang Lei, He was red as a tomato, He surprisingly looked beautiful, his long eyelashes( why does he have them longer than me! T^T) His face was finely chiseled.
"Man... you are handsome~" I whistled...
Oh sh*t.... did I just do it aloud??
"You...... stop.. answer, why did you come here..?" he said looking away but still red.
"I wanted a book... I took it... Bye", I ran away embarrassed, I imagined a scene. Xiao Li and Huang Lei.... It was fresh in mind... I have to write it down....
I went back to my room, I saw Xin Xin, she began crying...
"Sorry, miss, Milord came earlier than what I thought...."
"No problem Xin Xin, Come... We got work to do"
"What work miss?"
"Painting an illustration and writing a novel... let's do it tonight!! No sleep tonight!!"
