Chapter 2 Port in the Storm

Camile takes the lead running straight down the same hall my parents walked moments earlier today.

I can hear people screaming in fear all throughout the castle which only brought fear within myself.

" We need to get you and the princess stright to the underground tunnels of Kenslynn by the sounds of it, it's going to be the only safe way of getting the princess to safely." One of the guards shouted from down the hall.

I can see him running towards us. Once him got closer I could tell it was Demitri one of my father best guardsman, but something just felt off about him.

"Visha has her followers covering every exit, If we was to take any of those we'll forsure be out numbered." Demitri says in between each breath he takes.

" Thank you Demitri for the Intel, but we must continue on from here to get little Briar to safety as soon as possible. Join us if you will." Camile says taking off walking down a different hall.

At this point the guards along with Demitri are surrounding Camile and I as Demitri took the lead and led the way.

We traveled through room after room one more different then the last. But this room we just entered is alot more scary then any room I have ever been in.

The wall in this room are taller then any room or hall ive been in today. Everything about this room is dark all except for the thing that hangs from the top of the room.

But when the light that is able to creep through it shines on it making it shimmer filling the room with just a small amount of light, making it less scary.

"Something not right." Camile whispers

"What do you mean?" asked one of the guards

"The princess is a protector!" Camile shouts

Right at that moment the glass above us shattered. Camile and the three guards shielded me from the glass.

People dressed in all black jumped through the windows surrounding Camile and the three guards.

" It's an ambush!" One of the guards shouted

" How could you Demitri? It's your duty and oath to protect the princess." Camile screamed

" It would be my duty and oath if I was Demitri. I just stole his form, my true name is Riven. Visha had a few of her noble followers changed forms." Riven smirked

" So if you could hand over the princess to us, this would all be over." Riven says holding his hand out to Camile

" With my life, till my last breath!" Camile and the guards shout

" I guess we'll just do it the hard way then." Riven huffed as he pulled out two daggers.

Then all of a sudden all the doors around us busted opened. Now we have guards surrounding Riven and Visha followers who are still surrounding Camile and the three guardsmen.

Everyone in the room begins fighting, including Camile holding me in her arm not skipping one beat fighting.

Camile stopped and looked around the room as if she was looking for something or someone.

"Kia!" Camile tells

" I'm over here mother!" Kia shouts waving his sword in the air

Camile runs over to where Kia is standing, she quickly fixed my blanket as it was starting to fall off.

" You must get Briar to the Port in the storm take the underground tunnels of Kenslynn. Trust absolutely no one Visha followers can change their body image." Camile whispered.

"But how will I know who's safe?" Kia voice cracked

" Briar will she was born a protector." Camile explained

She quickly kissed Kia's forehead before handing me over to Kia. I could see the fear in his eyes as he adjusted me in his arms, but I could tell he was very brave.

" With my life, till my last breath." Kia bravely says before sneaking out a side door.

I could tell he was alot younger than the rest of the guardsmen but he fights like he's been fighting all his life.

After sometime of Kia running around the castle into a new room after the next he starts getting winded.

" We need to find a safe place to hide, got any suggestions little one." Kia whispered trying to catch his breath.

I just blankly stared up at him as if I could do anything to help.

" This looks like a good spot to rest for a moment. " Kia says opening a door

I know this place my mother called it the library, her and I spend alot of our time here together. She tells me all these amazing stories from what I learned to be called book's.

Kia quickly ran to one of the corner near the back of the library. He carefully placed me down on the ground before sitting right next to me.

Kia take a moment to catch his breath before standing back up. He looked over the book shelf as if he was looking for something, then he starts removing all the books one after the other throwing them on the ground.

As Kia continues to pull books off the shelf this one he tried to put was different than all the rest.

" There's the secret passage." Kia cheers

He reaches into his pocket pulling out a small knife removing the same book be just pulled.

While Kia finished taking the last few books off the shelf I looked around the room, from what I can see being on the ground.

I noticed over near the front of the library is a small mist of black smoke starting to fill the room.

I tried to get Kia attention by making little sounds but nothing was working. As the small mist of black smoke quickly approached growing bigger by the second.

I let out a big cry. All the books on the shelves began to shake. Kia stopped everything he was doing and looked down at me.

Everything about his face spoke fear and amazement all at once. He quickly tried to opend the door up to the secret passage, but is struggling to as the books begin to fall.

Kia quickly picked me up, held me close as he squeezed us through the small opening, just in time for the door to slam shut.

"That was a close one. Now Ietsget through these tunnels and get you to safety." Kia says

These tunnels are very cold so Kia wrapped me up in my blanket making sure I was warm. Then wrapped me up in his guardsmen uniform.

" I hope your warm enough Briar, it wont be to much longer till we have more stuff for you." Kia explained taking a bright fire stick off the wall.

After what feel like forever of silence. We heard a sound. Kia takes off running making the same sound.

" Crew I'm so glad you see you." Kia smiled walking

But Kia smile changed quickly as he looked down at me.

" What did you do with my brother!" Kia screamed as a tear started rolling down his face.

I heard the sounds one again, as Kia repeated the same sounds once again backing away from Visha follower.

" Kia get down!" a voice shouts.

Kia quickly got down. I could tell a figure pasted is but could see who it was, all I could tell was this figure ment no harm.

" Maggie is the really you? " Kia asked

" Yes, Kia it is." Maggie says rushing over to us

" I almost got her there." Kia whimpered

" I'm so proud of you, you've been super brave. Now I need you to be a little braver can you do that for me?" Maggie asked with a smile

Kia shaked his head and quickly whipped away his tears.

" I need you to collect some pebbles fill you pockets full of them." Maggie explained

Kia carefully handing me over to Maggie who looked just like her mother Camile.

" now what?" Kia asked

" This is the part I need you to be very very brave. I need you to walk ahead of the princess and I, count to ten throw a pebble count to ten again throw another pebble and keep doing that until you run out or I shout bunny." Maggie explained

We walked together for a moment until we approached a door. Maggie opened the door leading us to outside.

" Ok Kia remember what I said." Maggie smiled down at him.

He shook his head walking outside. Maggie waited for the first pebble sound before walking outside.

" We're almost there little one." Maggie smiled down at me

Maggie ran around all these beautiful amazing thing. Then she suddenly stopped.

" No they covered it in roses."Maggie whispered

Maggie covred me up to where I cant see a thing. I can hear drew out her sword and began cutting at the roses.

" Give it up Maggie its hopeless shes not gonna stop till she gets the princess." I hear a voice say

" You betrayed me, you betrayed this kingdom, you betrayed the oath." Maggie hissed

" She has my family what else was I supposed to do Maggie." the voice asked

" You could have told someone." Maggie suggested

" Your leaving me with no other option Maggie please dont make me hurt you." the voices cried out

" But I'm not scare to hurt you Drystan!" Maggie Shouts

Maggie flings around and when she did I could see her throwing a dagger at this Drystan.

" Bunny!" Maggie shouts opening this big door and closing it.

" Your safe now little princess." Maggie says

Maggie take off the thing that's been shielding me and placed me down on it.

" I bet you hungry little one, let's get you some milk." Maggie says

Maggie grabbed something in the corner of the room and brings it over to me. She picked me up placing me in her arms.

I noticed Maggie's shirt was cut and the she was bleeding. But before I could even see how bad it really was.

She did some short of magic and I began to fall asleep.
