reminiscence

There they were, all together, like each time before. First at the school, then at he byers house, then finally in star court mall, now inside my childhood home. Luckily my parents were out of town, probably at one of my dad's meetings in indianapolis.

Sheriff Hopper, ms.Byers, and the bald guy went to the guest bedroom to get all the facts before we decided on what to do. Dustin and Eddie volunteered to explain our little adventure into hell, Eleven and Mike went to explain their own journeys, Erica then invited herself into this room.

Nancy and Jonathon took the kitchen to reunite, and max and lucas took my room to talk,Eddie was still taking a shower he'd been in there for so long I got a little worried and checked in on him bit he just needed some time, which left me with Robin, Will, and some guy named Argyle in the living room.

"Hey Robin, I'm going to go get some air"

"hmmm.... oh ok."

"hey dude looks like you need a doobie" (Argyle with his endless amount of weed being a bro)Argyle then pulls out a joint bigger than he's used to.

"uh...yeah I guess"

With the door closed I decide to keep the roll for later and take a breath of cold spring air and sat down on a step.and let my mind wander over the last couple of years.

He had let his eyes catch the most beautiful girl he had ever seen, she wasn't his usual 'type', but he couldn't stop staring at her and her bright smile. He had used the same old moves that never failed, and they worked but steve didn't understand at the time that he was falling in love with every conversation, every snarky remark, everyone of those cute little smiles. He had went in for the kill, inviting her to his ever empty house, He was always a little worried that Barb would get in the way with Nance. When he had woken up alone in bed he felt a pang he wasn't used to, when he didn't see her there. when he got to school she was his only priority(except maybe basketball practice). then came the whole Barb drama where he started to truly show to Nancy at least how much of a douchebag he was(as Robin would like to put it). He should have done more, he should have taken more responsibility since she was his guest, he should have been there for Nancy to lean on, but he didn't do any of that.

Then he saw Jonathon in her room and he truly understood what he was feeling a bit too late, and he was pissed at anything and everything. he got his ass beat, he lost his friends, and as it seems Nancy didn't want to see him again. His mind still could only think about Nancy, she saw him as something more than what he was she saw a genuinely good person and he wanted to prove her right. Then he saw that demogorgon, his whole world flipped, he was able to do one thing and that was to protect her, and finally he found a purpose more than being king steve or a basketball captain.

He knows now she could have chosen Jonathon back then, and maybe she should have, that year was happier than he'd ever been, he might not have laughed as much as he did with Robin, but he was genuinely happy. He had put all he could into that relationship he knew it wasn't perfect but it was perfect to him. After the trip to Barbs parents she was Spiraling and he knew she needed to take the weight off her shoulders for at least one night. I dont even know how to sum up what happened that night, he was hurt he shouldn't have left her but by the time he bit his pride in the ass and marched back, but by then Jonathon had already drove off with her in his car. When she pulled me into that alley with plenty of mixed emotions, they were finally coming to the truth she was hiding from both of them.

Then like a stallion, Dustin came charging into his life, he hadn't followed the kid to be some hero as Dustin liked to have thought at the time. He had hope he could pull off another hail mary to get Nancy back. He didnt plan on bonding with the kid enough to call him his best (male) friend, he hadn't planned on being able to understand someone like dustin, someone he would have made fun of at that age. He got a lot more out of that friendship he'd ever tell Dustin, he already has enough of an ego. when he saw Nancy he had felt hope, but that didnt last long. When he saw them he knew things had changed they were more intimate it didnt take a genius to understand what had happened. He now had to do the hardest thing even to this day he has ever done, he let her go, he couldn't make her happy maybe Jonathon could, he hoped so, she deserved to be happy. He knew he couldn't let Nancy let him haunt her new relationship with Jonathon like Barb haunted theirs.
