9 Breaking the Marriage Law [8]

Cindy looked at her with hatred, as she wrapped her arms around Li Qiang who tried to push her away, much to his mother dismay.

"Li Qiang I'm back!" she chipped and Yin Yue felt a weird urge to just roll her eyes at her behaviour.

"I can see that, and you should let me go." The blond-haired girl winced but did as told and once again her eyes landed on Yin Yue. She was clearly judging the look of Li Qiang's wife and the smirk which appeared on her lips was a sign, that she found her uglier than herself.

"You didn't meet my wife yet. This is Yin Yue," Li Qiang pointed at her, while suddenly standing closer by her side and wrapping his hand around her waist.

"Nice to meet you, Cindy." Yin Yue smiled lightly, finding the man's touch slightly comfortable. Maybe it was because of the cold gaze of Cindy or almost furious mother-in-law, but it didn't change a fact, that she felt grateful to him.

Li Qiang raised his eyebrows, noticing how quickly she relaxed when he touched her and couldn't help but grin. Probably unconsciously Yin Yue leaned on him, making him satisfied. At least she knew she could depend on him, which was in fact a real progress, even if she wasn't aware of it.

"Yeah, sorry, sweetie, I have to greet mother," Cindy said as if dismissing her, not that it bothered Yin Yue, she was quite content with it.

As she watched Cindy's back, she felt Li Qiang spin her around and in the next second she was in his embrace, while he looked down at her, clearly amused.

"Is my cousin so scary that you can even tremble in my arms?" he asked, mocking her and Yin Yue huffed, as her cheeks instantly became red from embarrassment.

"Well, your family is quite intimidating," she tried to keep the tone of her voice flat, but failed miserably and her husband smiled.

"And am I not? You don't find me intimidating, do you?" he whispered, making her shiver and for a second, she forgot how to breathe.

It was the second time she was that close to him, and probably the first when she actually took a proper look at him. He was really handsome, which only made him more annoying and she swallowed, looking away to avoid his gaze. The places where he was touching her burned with an unknown to Yin Yue, sweet sensation and she cursed under her breath, making him chuckle.

"Stop that," she said quietly, hoping that none of the guest would come closer to hear what they were talking about. Hug in case of married couple wasn't really anything worth bothering, but she knew that his mother was watching them all the time and her wrath was the last thing Yin Yue wanted to deal with.

"What?" Li Qiang's embrace tighten, and when she looked him in the eye, his eyes involuntarily moved to her pink lips and red cheeks.

"That... Flirting thing you're trying to do..." she muttered, finding herself unable to resist him and just push him away.

"Yeah, I probably should..." he whispered in a low voice which send her over the edge and in the next second his lips touched her own, making Yin Yue completely unable to think straight.

For the first time she didn't mind him, moreover she could have said that it was more than pleasant, even coming from him. Or maybe it was because it was him? The man she decided to hate because he forced her to marry him, but in the end treated her right. The man who was trying to win her over many times, even though she was so hurtful to him.

That one second of hesitation costed her an uneven breath as she grabbed the front of his white shirt, tugging at it to bring him even closer.

"You should... You really need to stop doing this, kitten," he whined, breaking the kiss and looking at her with puzzled expression.

"Your flirting worked," Yin Yue answered boldly, burring her face in his chest, and hoping that no one will notice how much she was blushing.

"Are you now ready to greet my mother?" Li Qiang laughed, stroking her hair and smiling to himself.

"Not in this life, asshole..." soft mumble reached his ears and he decided on the few seconds more for the hug.
