(HB) Heart Breakers

Somewhere in New York, within a vast compartment that one would recognize as a luxurious office, a young-looking man sat with his elbow resting on the armrest of the sofa in his office.

His left leg which was placed on the sofa, supported his arm, which was majestically aiding his head.

The soft breeze from the window blew on his silky, long white hair, and he slowly fluttered his golden coloured eyes open.

A bit of a displeased expression emerged on his face as he looked at the door to see a really hot woman walking in with an annoyed expression on her face.

"Flora." He called the woman's name in such a soothing voice that could hypnotize any being, and the woman halted when she arrived in front of him.

"Lorenzo!" Flora spat out his name with a bit of anger in her tone, and the young man, who is Lorenzo, scrutinized her from head to toe with a smirk on his red lips.

"What is it, Flora? Don't you know that I hate it when you barge into my office? Hm." He asked in a soft voice, even though he was completely angered by her disrespect.

"Lorenzo, how could you?! Ho-how can you tell my father that we are not in love?" She yelled in utter anger, and Lorenzo's face turned ashen.

"So what!" He stood up from the couch, revealing the big height difference between them.

"Do you have a problem with it?" He inquired in a soft yet deadly tone, and completely unwilling to let it slide, Flora, balled her hands into tight fists.

"How could you, Lorenzo?: How can you tell my father that we are not in love when we clearly are?! We are in a serious relationship and-"

Lorenzo immediately grabbed her harshly by the arm and pushed her back, slamming her against the wall.

"Who said we are in a serious relationship? Who even told you... we are in love?" He asked with a mesmerizing smile on his face, and Flora's heart thumped wildly within her.

"Yo-you did. I mean... you treat me well and considering all those sweet words you always say to me, I believe we are inlo-"

Lorenzo chuckled softly, cutting her off before she could finish her words.

"Flora... why would you believe that? I treat every woman that pleases me, well. So...I don't love you. You're just... my play partner. I mean, isn't that what we agreed to when you said you wanted to be by my side? It doesn't matter if I don't love you. Just being beside me is enough for you. Why are you contradicting things now?"

He asked gently as his finger traced her jaw to her lips.

"You know the kind of man I am. I am incapable of loving and... even if I were capable, tsk... it wouldn't be you."

He shook his head, and Flora's eyes fluttered in disbelief.

"What...?" She shook her head as she didn't want to believe that everything was fake even though she knew it was.

"My apologies, sweetheart, but you're simply not my type of woman. You're beautiful and classy, but it doesn't really pull me... Or maybe it's just you. Hmm... I can't tell."

His eyes locked on her pink lips, and he slowly leaned down to kiss her.

Flora stood still and gave into the kiss, even though she had just gotten her heart completely shattered.

He was perfection that she couldn't resist. She craved him, and no matter how many times he tells her that they are just play partners, she keeps running back to him and melting in his touch.

Just how could there be such a man in the world? A man who could effortlessly pull any woman's heart.

He was the only one, and he was the epitome of perfection.

Diana walked into the bathroom and sat down on the toilet.

She whipped out the card and intently stared at it, as though contemplating what to do.

Should she do this or not?

Her life is already messed up as it is and it would be a living hell once her father finds her, so why even think of anything worse?

Even if the agency is dangerous, it definitely wouldn't be more dangerous than her father.

Plus, if it indeed ends up being dangerous, she would still benefit from it and get protection, unlike getting caught by her father and perishing.

So... the better choice is already presented to her.

She took deep breaths and stood up from the toilet.

She made her way into the living room and took a seat beside Lisa.

"Lisa..." She called, and Lisa turned to look at her.

"I have made my choice." She said, and Lisa raised her brows in curiosity.

"And it's?"

"Well... I chose to accept the offer. But before you ask why, I have my reasons." She cleared her throat before Lisa, who wasn't too happy with the decision, could ask why.

"What Reasons?"

"Well, firstly, if the organization turns out to be dangerous, it wouldn't be more dangerous than my father, would it? Nope, it wouldn't. So what could be worse?"

"Second, they offered me full protection from him, so not only would I be benefiting in terms of money, but I would also have protection and feel safe for once in my life."

She explained, and although a bit reluctant, Lisa slowly nodded at her.

"Well... I understand. But regardless, all I care about is your safety, so I really do hope that this is a good choice and not one that would cost you your life."

She smiled pessimistically, and Diana pulled her into a warm hug.

"Don't worry, I will be fine. Besides, I can always leave if it doesn't suit me." She chuckled softly, and Lisa slightly nodded her head.

"Yeah, Be careful and safe, alright. Call me once anything goes wrong." Lisa pulled back from the hug, and Diana slowly nodded her head.

"I will be safe. Do not worry." She smiled warmly and stood up from the sofa.

She grabbed her phone from the glass table and dialed the number she saw on the card.

The bearer of the number picked up almost instantly, and Diana stayed silent for a few moments before speaking up.

"Hello."

"Hi, have you made your decision yet?" Delarcy asked.

"Yes, I accept the offer," Diana replied, and Delarcy went quiet for a few moments before a soft chuckle escaped from her.

"That's a good choice you made. Well, currently it's 11:50 pm, so kindly wait outside your apartment. Once it clocks 12am, someone will pick you up."

She said, and before Diana could utter a word, she cut the call.

Diana brought the phone away from her ear and a long, deep breath exited her nose.

"You okay?" Lisa asked, and she nodded her head.

"Yes, I am fine. I'll go get dressed because she asked me to wait outside the apartment." She replied and walked away to the guest room.

She shut the door behind her and grabbed one of the clothes that Lisa gave to her.

She slid into the jean pants and wore a white hoodie on top.

Then, with one glance at herself in the mirror, she turned around and walked out of the room.

"I will be fine. I promise." She smiled at Lisa, who was already giving her a worried look and Lisa nodded with a half smile on her lips.

"Be safe." She said to Diana, and Diana beamed, then pulled the door open and walked out.

She glanced at the screen of her phone and her brow raised on seeing that it had already clocked 12am.

She quickly looked around, and to her surprise, a black Lamborghini, identical to the one Delarcy drives, appeared out of nowhere and parked directly in front of her.

Diana's eyes flickered rapidly, and without wasting time, she got into the car and shut the door afterward.

The driver, who was not Delarcy but a young lady of 24 years old, rolled the window up and started the car.

She took a smooth reverse and took off at a bit of a high speed.

The ride went in complete silence and Diana, who felt a bit uncomfortable, turned her head towards the window and rested it with an indifferent expression on her face.

The young lady glanced at her and scoffed with what seemed like disdain in her eyes.

Finally, after a two-hour ride, they arrived at their destination, and carefully, the young lady drove into the ash-colored mansion, which was completely different from the one that Delarcy had gone to.

She parked the car in the parking lot, and Diana stepped down with a bit of a frown on her face.

"Follow me." The young lady said to her and began to walk towards the door of the mansion.

Diana followed her and arrived at the door, where the young lady placed her palm print on the door and it instantly pushed open.

Diana pursued after her as she stepped inside and walked towards a room that said something completely different compared to the outer look of the building.

The living room looked so luxurious with extravagant furniture within it.

Diana's brow raised, as that was not what she expected.

"Welcome." The voice that belonged to none other than Delarcy resounded and she shifted her gaze to the stairs to see Delarcy walking down with her body draped in a leather suit as always.

She locked her gaze on her, and her face puckered when she saw the young lady bow to Delarcy and walk away.

"Have a seat." Delarcy motioned to the sofa, and Diana took her seat.

"I am glad you agreed. But before I fill you in on all the details, you will have to sign these two documents."

She grabbed two documents from the mini white table and handed them over to Diana.

"What is this?" Diana asked as she looked at what was written on the paper.

"Oh... it's a contract." Delarcy clarified, and not at all in the mood to read such boring words written on it, Diana grabbed the pen on the table and quickly signed the two documents.

"You didn't read." Quite surprised, Delarcy gazed at her with deep confusion in her eyes.

I mean, who doesn't read a contract? What if there is something within it that the person doesn't find favorable to him or her?

"It's too boring for me to read. Besides, I already accepted the offer, so it's unnecessary." Diana replied, and Delarcy slowly nodded her head.

"I see." She cleared her throat and collected the contract from her.

"Well, since you have signed it, I will now fill you in on the details. This work is one that you have never heard of before. It is being secretly operated and it is called HB, which means "Heart Breakers."

"Heart what?" Confused by why an organization would have such a name, Diana gazed at Delarcy with confusion visible in her eyes.

Delarcy chuckled softly and stood up from the sofa.

"Follow me."
