9 Chapter 9- Meeting

This voice clearly came from a man, but the voice was so high pitched that it sounded feminine. This put a smile on Wang Wei's face. While it is true that he was cowardly, he could be pretty cunning. Wang Wei quickly went home and snuck into his bed after changing.

The next morning, Wang Wei did not feel tired at all. He wasn't surprised as he thought it was when he was unconscious during the Wang Bo 'incident'. He got out of his bed, changed, and went to the living room. There, Wang Jian was waiting for him. "Ah Wei-er, I didn't hear you come in last night," he said with a hidden meaning in his words. Wang Wei caught on to the meaning and smiled. "I was cultivating with some the things I bought at Heaven's Call. Look, Father, I am at the 4th stage!"

Wang Jian thought that Wang Wei was lying or coming up with an excuse. "Wang Wei, you are not in trouble. It is just that I was worried about you. You really did not have to go through such lengths to hide your location. I mean I can clearly tell that your cultivation is at the 3rd-" Wang Jian stopped because currently, Wang Wei's cultivation was really at the 4th stage! "H- How could this be?! You recently entered the 3rd stage so how are you at the 4th!?" Wang Jian's head was spinning, but in the end, he was happy that his son finally reached his level and had a much brighter future than his useless father.

"Well, anyways son, a family gathering has been called for. I'm am not too sure of the details since I'm not too high up, but it is supposed to be about something very important. As a matter a fact there are rumors that the reason behind this gathering made even the family head worried," Wang Jian said solemnly.

"Father, will you tell me what it will be about?" Wang Wei asked curiously.

"There is no need for that because you will be there as well. This gathering involves all with Wang as their surname," Wang Jian said with a smile.

Wang Wei was puzzled by didn't say any more.

Eventually, the time came for Wang Jian and Wang Wei to go to the meeting hall. It was at a place where Wang Wei visited before: Wang Bo's and Wang Fu's house. Wang Wei tried to look impressed as he has never formally been invited here, so it should be his first time. Wang Jian saw this and had complex emotions in his eyes. He was proud that the building belonged to the Wang Family, yet sad that his only son did not live there.

No one stopped them from entering the building and when they arrived at the third floor, they laid their eyes on quite a sight. Over 50 people were in the hall with most willing off a majestic, unfathomable yet cold aura.

"Cultivator Jian, you came," an old thundering voice said.

"Family Head." Wang Jian cupped his hands and bowed slightly.

Wang Wei never left the side of Wang Jian and always kept a smile on his face. He knew that these people were not people he should get on the bad side of, even though he would soon be without them realizing it. He saw Wang Fu, Wang Fang, and Wang Liu grouped together acting intimidating. Wang Fang and Wang Liu were always on the same level as Wang Wei's previous cultivation, the 2nd stage. The only reason they dared to mess with Wang Wei was that they had the backing of Wang Fu, which had the backing of Wang Bo. Now, they glanced at Wang Wei and they were not able to sense his cultivation realm. That meant that he was at least two stages above them! Wang Fang whispered something to Wang Fu, and the latter's face changed. Immediately, he looked Wang Wei and the shock on his face grew more apparent. He then said something to Wang Fang and Wang Liu and they both nodded. Even though Wang Wei did not hear their conversations, he could guess what it was about.

After about an hour or two, it seemed like the meeting would finally begin.

In total, there were 58 important figures. Anyone of the 4th stage of the Mortal realm, they could be one of these important figures. If one was at the 5th stage, they could be classified as an elder. If the 6th stage, prime elder. Only two people were of the 7th stage: the Family Head, and the grand elder.

The grand elder made decisions when the Family Head was not around, and usually advised him. Overall, it was a very high position and no one dared to cause trouble with him. He was the first to speak.

"Firstly, I would like to thank all of you for coming on such short notice. We will start with the less troublesome issues." The grand elder then pulled out a scroll and started to list problems within the family. Most were the common ones such as power struggles within the family, food shortage in certain areas and notable news of all sorts.

The less significant things were finally out of the way, and it was at this time that the Family Head spoke. He was completely silent during the first portion of the meeting. "All of you who are sitting are at least at the 4th stage and each of you serves this family." The Family Head looked around the room. Suddenly, he put an angry look on his face and shouted, "THEN WHY THE HELL DID YOU KILL ONE OF YOUR OWN?! AND ON TOP OF THAT A PRODIGY?!"
