19 Chapter 19- Meeting Grandfather

Wang Wei was so surprised to see a person in this place that he actually jumped back in fright. The Red-Eyed Lion, on the other hand, bowed his head towards the man with even more emotion than the beast ever did to Wang Wei.

"Growly?" the middle-aged man was shocked. "What are you doing here? Who is this person that you brought?" he asked.

The Red-Eyed Lion, that seemed to be named Growly, lifted up his head, revealing his face.

"Your eye?! What happened? This is years earlier than planned!" he shouted with anger in his voice.

He turned and looked at Wang Wei.

All the anger from before couldn't be heard when he then said, "Could it be? Are you really Wei-er?"

"Wait... Do you know me?" Wang Wei was naturally surprised that a person he has never seen before knew his name.

Almost immediately, tears fell from the eyes of the middle-aged man. "Of course, I know my grandson. It is understandable that you do not recognize me since I have never gone to see you." As he said this, he was running towards Wang Wei with open arms.

It took Wang Wei a moment to process the words of this middle-aged person, but soon tears also fell from his eyes as he also ran with open arms.

When they hugged, both spoke at the same time.

"Grandson."

"Grandfather."

Growly seemed to be enjoying a show as he just made soft noises with what looked like a smile on his face.

After an unknown amount of time, Wang Wei and his grandfather reluctantly let go of each other.

"Wei-er, do not take this the wrong way, but why are you here? You are an entire four years early!"

Wang Wei had a complicated look on his face. He decided to tell his grandfather about the competition for being Family Head, the attack, and meeting 'Growly'.

Wang Wei's grandfather sighed. "Things went differently than I expected them to. Anyways, since you are here I will be able to personally see your progress and push my plans forwar-" Suddenly he stopped talking. Then, a beaming smile appeared on his face with his eyes shining. "Wei-er! Could it be that you are in the 4th stage already?!"

Wang Wei nodded. Seeing his grandfather happy made him feel proud of himself.

"Haha! The heavens have finally taken pity on our Wang Family and given me a talented grandson! This is simply wonderful! The reason I waited to see you were so that you would be at least at the 5th stage. When I first saw you, I was worried that I would have to train you for a long while before I could truly move on with my plans. However, it seems that my worries were unnecessary."

Wang Wei was about to say something but caught himself. "No Grandfather, you must worry. Not about me, but about the Wang Family! Something terrible has happened." Wang Wei's grandfather paused for a moment before saying, "Wei-er, even if I wanted to do something I am too weak to interfere and at the moment, so are you."

Now, Wang Wei started to panic. "But Grandfather, what about Mother, Father, Li-er, and everyone else? I can't just leave them!"

"I am not sure who this Li-er person is, but I care about your mother and father. I severed all ties with the Wang Family. You must understand the phrase, 'Live to fight another day.' It is indeed a tragedy, but there really is nothing you nor I could do. The happy mood I was in when I first saw you faded a bit, however it became stronger once I realized that my only grandson was able to avoid the calamity."

At this time, Wang Wei started to feel anger.

"It should be true that I am your only grandson, but your only granddaughter is in danger! Anyways, Grandfather, I was very glad to see you however I must return to save my family." With that, he started to walk away.

Wang Wei's grandfather started to ponder. Granddaughter?

"STOP!"

His shout literally shook the room. Wang Wei turned around with a hint of fear in his eyes.

"Wang Wei... do you really want to save the entirety of the Wang Family?"

Surprised at the question, he answered," Not necessarily the entirety. Most of them treated me horribly and I only love my family. If I had a choice, however, I would save them all."

After a long sigh, Wang Wei's grandfather said, "You are too kindhearted for your good. Later in life, you will learn just how big a weakness this is. In truth, there is a way for them to be saved but it will require for u to put yourself at risk. I am able to create a special seal that when placed on one's body it will create a translucent barrier around them that could block up the full strength of one at the 8th stage of the Mortal Realm. I would be able to create more powerful ones if I had more time, but we are out of that."

Wang Wei first had a look of surprise, but then it changed into a suspicious one.

"Really Grandfather? You would really do that?"

"I didn't want to do it originally, but you leave me no choice. Also you little squirt remember that when I, the great Wang Shi, says something you can be sure that I will follow through," Wang Shi said with a hint of pride and a smile. Suddenly, his face turned for the worst as he said, "Damn! I slipped up! Listen Wei-er you must never say my name out loud! This is extremely important and you must promise me!" Wang Shi placed his hands on Wang Wei's shoulders and stared deep into his eyes.

"Wei-er, I promise that I will tell you everything when the time is right. All you need to know is that I am on the bad side of quite a few powerhouses. Saying my name will only bring catastrophe on yourself."

Wang Wei could do nothing but nod with a grim smile.
