16 Chapter 16- Beginning of the Attack

Inside the forest, others were not as lucky as Wang Wei and couldn't find even a single weapon.

"Damn! Why is this stage so hard? Is there some hidden trick that we have yet to figure out?" one complained.

"I am not sure, but I ran into that Wang Wei and he had two daggers on his waist," another said.

"Wang Wei? The advanced fourth stage? He is not someone we can fight. All of us are in the third! You were lucky that he didn't attack you," someone else said.

The three of them started laughing and didn't even hear the rustling of the leaves.

Suddenly, a loud thud was heard behind them.

"Who?" they all shouted at the same time.

However, when they all looked, a body was there. That person was dead, but the head was not attached.

"Elder!" the three of them all thought. They were only able to think it, as right before they could even speak, their heads all fell. The bodies stood for a while before falling as well.

"How many were there in the beginning again? 56? Ha! Well, now there is 32," a person wearing a black robe said.

"Not anymore. We just got a report and including these, 27 are still alive," another person came out of the branches of a tree wearing a black robe said.

"No fun. Now there is five less! Also, why were you the one to kill that elder?" the first one asks.

"Enough Du Yuan! The techniques I know can only be used on a single enemy, while you can kill multiple. That is precisely why we are a team. There are still some brats alive, let's go and change that," the other one says.

"Che! Unfair. Next time you kill the kids and I'll get the elder. Do you hear me Du Hong?" the one called Du Yuan says.

Du Hong, however, just walks away ignoring Du Yuan completely.

Wang Wei was in the forest still looking for weapons when he accidentally entered the territory of the Red-Eyed Lion.

Wang Wei suddenly shook his head, "I can't find any more weapons. Now, I have 62 points but I still haven't found the special weapon. Should I start to take them from others? No, that seems lowly and cowardly. Besides, many people should have given up since I haven't seen others for a while. That's to be expected though, they were all too weak." He continued walking forward.

He knew that he was deep in the forest and wanted to go deeper because he believed that this stage was also a test of courage. That one must put themselves in danger to get a reward.

There were noises similar to those of fighting up ahead, so Wang Wei hurried forward while being cautious.

Soon later, two people entered his view.

They were moving quite fast and Wang Wei's eyes couldn't keep up so all he was able to make out was their shadows.

Every once in a while, sparks would fly and sound when their weapons clashed. Suddenly, blood flew into the air from one of the figures. With that, both shadows stopped moving.

"I must say, for a grand elder, you sure are weak. I am just an ordinary elder in the Du Family yet I defeat you? How weak the Wang Family has become!" said the Du Family's elder holding his sword.

The one bleeding was the grand elder!

Wang Wei was shocked on the inside and fear started to take over his mind. The grand elder was in the 7th stage of the Mortal realm, yet was defeated. The Du Family was attacking and their strength was far higher than that of the Wang Family. They possessed 2 people in the 9th stage along with many of those in the 8th and 7th stage.

The grand elder coughed blood and very weakly said, "Why? Why is the Du Family attacking? We of the Wang Family have always been subservient to you."

The Du Family's elder sneered, "Do we even need a reason to attack you? To put it simply, you are an eyesore and don't deserve our grace!" After thinking for a while, he added, "However if you want to blame someone, talk to Wang Bo and Wang Chao. Oh, wait, Wang Bo is dead so the only one you can talk to is Wang Chao. No that is also wrong because you won't be able to live that long!"

He attacked and the grand elder was on the defensive.

"Damn Wang Chao! Damn you! Not only do you kill Wang Bo, but now you want to kill us all? Even if I die, my ghost will not let you off!" the grand elder cursed. He then fell to the ground and the halberd in his hand flew away.

"Killed Wang Bo? I'm afraid you are mistaken. Allow me to enlight you before your death. Wang Bo was supposed to become a part of our family. With his death, our plans were destroyed and we were enraged. Wang Chao knew of our plan and was similarly enraged. Originally, we were going to kill all other members besides those two, but the plans changed. Wang Chao proposed that we spare him, his other son, and some other random Wang girl. In return for that, he would give us all the riches that the Wang Family possesses," the Du Family's elder smiled. "As you can tell, we accepted his proposal."

With that, his sword pierced the heart of the grand elder, whose face was that of disbelieving.

Wang Wei heard the entire conversation and was able to piece some of the missing parts together. He dropped all of the weapons he collected to make himself lighter. Then, he did his best to remember the location of the Red-Eyed Lion's lair and make a gamble. Wang Wei knew for a fact that if he stayed he would die, but the Red-Eyed Lion acted strangely towards him and was a beast that few were willing to offend.

Wang Wei was going as fast as he could, while also making his movements silent. Along the way, many thoughts were running through his head, "This must be why I haven't seen many other competitors. What about my family? Are they still alive? Damn! How can I survive this?"
