12 Chapter 12- Training, training, and more training!

The moon was high and the center of attention whenever one's gaze landed upon it. Under the moonlight, Wang Wei was there on the ground, panting. Two whole months passed after the meeting and every day was very similar to this one. The morning was the time for sleep, the afternoon was cultivation, and the evening was martial arts. With this cycle, Wang Wei's strength grew by leaps and bounds. He reached the pinnacle of early 4th stage and was close to making a breakthrough in the Wind Breaker's Fist.

"Get up! At this rate, you only have a chance on being 1st place! But would you actually gamble our honor with only a chance? No! Your victory must be guaranteed and all of your competitors are training!" Wang Jian encouraged. Similar words were said to Wang Wei very time he wanted to quit.

Another month passed...

Wang Wei's eyes were bloodshot as he punched through the air. He knew that any moment now, he would make a breakthrough to low One with the Wind and massively improve his strength. Eventually, a fist blurred as it was thrown out and the wind seemed to propel it forward. The strength was clearly different than the other ones, and this got Wang Wei excited, however, he didn't stop his punches. Soon, every time his fist was thrown out, the wind would act as his ally and help. This was the first sign of One with the Wind!

After three months of hard work, Wang Wei reached low One with the Wind! It took Wang Jian half a year to get that far, and even then his speed was considered rapid.

With this progress made, Wang Wei felt even more confident in his victory he decided to take a break from the intense training he has been doing.

In the end, Wang Wei slacked for almost a full month, even Wang Jian couldn't get him to train.

One day, Wang Fu came over to Wang Wei's cottage to spar. To Wang Wei's surprise, Wang Fu was also at the 4th stage! Apparently, after Wang Bo's death, his parents made Wang Fu train in order to come on top in the competition. To do this, Wang Fu was forced to pay a visit to each competitor and spar with them, not only to learn their attack patterns and techniques but also to see his chances of winning.

Wang Wei was fully confident in his ability to defeat Wang Fu, so he accepted without so much as a second thought. In a spar, killing was not allowed but serious injuries could occur. With One with the Wind reaching the low mastery, Wang Wei could easily win, however, he set a goal for himself and that was to win without using it. During this past few months, Wang Jian taught him many martial arts, as well as ways to counter them. Wang Wei may not have much of a fighter's instinct, he had a lot of theoretical knowledge.

Since Wang Jian was more experienced, he would have an easier time to come up with a strategy to counter Wang Fu, therefore the fight took place where no eyes would lay on them.

After about a tea's time, Wang Wei came back to the cottage, quite ruffed up. Wang Fu already left towards his home, and Wang Wei was sitting there sulking. Wang Jian noticed this and found it probable that the fight with Wang Fu was not as easy as Wang Wei thought it to be. At first, Wang Jian wanted to help, but then he shook his head and walked away, leaving Wang Wei alone.

In truth, Wang Wei wasn't sulking but disappointed with himself. The fight with Wang Fu was completely different than the preferable outcome, which was to beat Wang Fu without using One with the Wind. As a matter of fact, Wang Wei had to go all out in order to defeat Wang Fu!

This left a bitter taste in his mouth as he realized that this was his fault for slacking off this past month. This fight taught him a valuable lesson, "Never be overconfident in your abilities!" Later on, he would see exactly how big of an impact learning this lesson now would be...

The following month, Wang Wei trained even harder than he used too. He needs to become the strongest he could in order to make his family proud and raise their status in the family. He managed to break through to advanced 4th stage, but that was not enough for him. Wang Wei continued to train to the point where he forgot to eat sometimes.

Wang Jian saw this and sighed. He looked over to his wife, Xie Mei. She looked back with a sorrowful smile on her face. It broke her heart to see just how hard her only son was working. Furthermore, she knew that the reason he was working so hard was not even for himself, but his family. Wang Li was also heart-broken. She used to always be so close to her brother, but now her parents told her very strictly to not interfere with his training. It got to the point where they were lucky to even talk throughout the week. The only time she was happy was during that one month slack off Wang Wei had and even then the vibe between the two of them was not the same as before. As for everyone sitting and eating at the same time, together? Hasn't happened even once during these entire five months. Wang Jian was working even harder at his job in border patrol in order to afford more materials for Wang Wei, and hardly spent any time at home. The little time he had was in the evening and spent that teaching Wang Wei. Overall, no one within the cottage was happy with the way things were, but they all knew that after one month, things would change.

And that final month, passed quickly.
