10 Chapter 10- Reactions

When the Family Head spoke, a combination of fear, shock, and respect was felt throughout the hall.

"Wang Honghui!"The grand elder yelled. "We have not confirmed that it was one of us who killed Wang Bo!"

"Silence!" Wang Honghui bellowed. "While there is indeed a reason for an outsider to kill Wang Bo, there is no way they could penetrate our defenses! That means that this was an inside job. Why someone would do this, I don't know." Wang Honghui's eyes flicked around. "But what I do know is that one of you is the culprit!"

At this point, everyone's minds were spinning.

"Wait a second Family Head. Wang Bo is dead?" one the people sitting down asked.

Wang Honghui growled. "Yes, the Wang Bo that was at the 5th stage is dead. His body was found last night in his room."

"However, the window was broken from the outside, proving my theory that Wang Bo was killed by an outsider," the grand elder persisted.

Wang Wei put on a shocked look, much like the others.

"The reason I called this meeting was for two main reasons. Firstly to figure out who killed Wang Bo and secondly to plan our next step," Wang Honghui continued. "This was supposed to be a secret, but I made Wang Bo my successor to be the head of this family. Now that he is... no longer with us, I must find a new person to replace him."

Gasps were heard continuously throughout the meeting. Some people were even on the verge of tears. Wang Wei looked sad, confused and angry. He decided to take a peek at Wang Fu to see how he was taking it.

"Just as I thought, he isn't taking it well," he muttered. Suddenly, Wang Fu lifted his head and looked straight at Wang Wei. His eyes were filled with hatred... yet disbelieving. Wang Fu was recently beaten by Wang Wei and he was clearly at the advanced 3rd stage. Now, he broke through to the fourth? Isn't this speed a little too quick?

The only person Wang Wei was cautious about was Wang Fu. The latter knew that Wang Bo went to chase and kill Wang Wei, so it stands to reason that Wang Wei saw him last and is the most suspicious. However, judging by words of the family head, Wang Fu did not expose him.

One of the important figures couldn't take it anymore and ask, "Family Head, could you explain the circumstances of Wang Bo's death?"

Wang Honghui have him a cold look, "Hmpf! We have the scene on a record crystal. Grand elder show them." Wang Honghui waved his hand and the grand elder quickly prepared everything.

A record crystal was, as its name implies, a crystal that is able to record both scenes and voices.

The grand elder lifted up a transparent crystal and a projection appeared above it. The projection was big enough so everyone could see even the smallest detail.

It was so quiet that you could hear a pin drop. Everyone in the room was staring attentively at the scene absorbing it into their memories. Some were determined to find clues to the killer, while others just didn't want to face reality.

The grand elder chose to speak at this moment, "As you can see, Wang Bo is dead. In his hand are medical pills, the broken glass is on the floor, and his body was cut many times. This means that the killer had time to infiltrate our stronghold and push Wang Bo to the verge of death, but not quite kill him. The killer was forced to escape, and Wang Bo tried to get pills to heal himself. Tragically, he did not make it, and neither did we."

Wang Honghui also spoke, "What the grand elder said was indeed possible, however, this is merely speculation. I have come up with another explanation. The killer was highly skilled and is a part of our family! It is difficult to sneak into our building unless he was one of us. Therefore, everyone that is of the 5th stage and entered this building yesterday speak now! Be warned, I am not in a good mood. If you came here and do not speak, you will be punished regardless of whether you killed Wang Bo or not!" Wang Honghui paused for a second. "Dammit! Why did I have to go to Yang City?!" Wang Honghui was obviously enraged.

"Wang Honghui, won't you at least consider my perspective. I didn't want to say this here but what if it was the Du family? It was them who insisted on us going there. With us gone, there are no 7th stage cultivators here and our awareness is limited," the grand elder said.

No one noticed, but when these words were said, one person in the room stuttered.

Wang Honghui looked like he was thinking, but shook his head. "That should not be the case. While Wang Bo did stand out, the Du family would have no reason to kill him."

The same person started sweating.

Someone noticed this abnormality and said, "Wang Chao," while nudging him. But no reaction came, so he said louder, "Wang Chao!"

This time, it caught the attention of the grand elder.

"Wang Chao, is something wrong? You look nervous. Perhaps there is something that we should hear."

Wang Chao hesitated before saying, "Family Head, grand elder, I am very sorry for not saying this sooner, but in all honesty, it wasn't my place."

Wang Honghui and the grand elder looked confused.

Wang Chao continued, "My son, Wang Bo, took a liking to Du Lijuan and made a move on her."

"WHAT?!" everyone's eyes nearly popped out of their sockets.

"Did you just say Du Lijuan? Of all the people to make a move on, why did it have to be her?" Wang Honghui said these words with sadness and anger. Du Lijuan was the favorite daughter of the Du's Family Head.

The grand elder shook his head. "With this new piece of information, many things are coming together. It is very likely that the Du Family did this."

Wang Wei just looked on... stunned at the way this all played out.
