1 July 10th

I went to bed at 7:30 ish last night in preparation for work the next day which started at 5 am. And while I thought going to bed earlier would make up for the fact that I didn't have a nap after my previous morning shift, I was wrong.

I drifted in and out of sleep until midnight when I rolled over and realized I was slowly rotating myself across the bed because Rigby ( the dog I'm taking care of for a few days) kept crawling closer to me every time I shifted so I couldn't roll back. At one point I remember I woke up totally disoriented because it was pitch black and I forgot where I was. I didn't think sleeping in a strangers bed would throw me off as much as it has.

Anyway after I finally heard my alarm go off at 3am, I tried to keep myself awake before reaching for the lamp. When I finally managed to figure out how to turn it on, I was blinded by how bright it was compared to the previous darkness. Rigby wasn't much better as he gave me the strongest stink eye possible. He looked like what I'd imagine I looked like at that point. Flipped ears, ruffled fur and eyes barely open. At least he got to go back to bed.

After crawling out of bed and stumbling to the bathroom, I made my way upstairs to organize my work stuff and to collect some food. While I was doing this I realized Rigby had gone and found himself a comfy place to lay. As I went to go downstairs to leave, I picked him up and dropped him off in the main bedroom so he wasn't so lost. Then I grabbed my panier and hit the road to work.

I left at 4 am and arrived at work by 4:27am. Usually I'm faster but I was way more exhausted than I thought from the previous bike to and from work.

Today was pretty standard. I started in the freezer and was able to get 21 orders stuffed into my cart... though I was only able to finish two time slots; 8 and 9 am. After that I flipped over to fridge and got to work. Usually I take my break at 8am but this time I took a big order just before 8, 69 stops I think. By the time I finished that run I went on my break at 9:15 and when I came back I ended up chatting with my manager and found out I'm a legit part timer, not just a temporary covid hire! I was even praised on my work😊. That definitely made me happy.

Once I finally finished my shift I started to bike home. Man was I flying! So fast in fact that I completely forgot that I wasn't living at home. I was halfway up my road before realizing I was going the wrong way. Once I finally made it home it had taken me 24 min. I had timed myself cuz I was curious about how big a difference there was in getting home. Between it being downhill and getting to be home, I knew it would be faster but now I'll have to re-time myself next time.

Walking in the door of home 2.0, I was just excited to sleep in tomorrow. I had a bit of chill time after having lunch and then I said goodbye to my sister who was going home. She's been hanging out with me while house / dog sitting.

Now I'm writing this while dreading going to the dentist. Unfortunately I have some cavities and so I'm going in to get them fixed up. Wish me luck?
