7 Naruto VS. Books (UPDATED)

As we sit and talk, waiting for class to start, I pull out a book on chakra and chakra Control. Naruto asks why I'm reading books before class. The look on his face tells me he thinks reading is the most boring thing in the world. I tell him, "We are reviewing chakra and chakra control-based subjects in today's class, and I'm just reviewing beforehand."

Naruto-" They will talk about it in class, right? What's the point in reading it just for them to talk about it again."

I closed the book and turned to face him. "Naruto, do you know what chakra is?"

Naruto-"Ya, it's what we use to do, cool jutsus, right?"

I let out a big sigh. "Well, you are correct, but that is not what I was asking. I asked what chakra is and where it comes from. How is it made? How is it used? What makes chakra into jutsus? That is what I'm asking Naruto. Do you know the answer to any of these?" I feel bad about halfway through. The look of dejection on his face at not knowing tells me everything.

Naruto lowers his head with a sad look and lets out a whimper. "I don't."

I let out another sigh and said, "Naruto, do you know how to read?" He slowly shakes his head up and down.

I'm relieved it'd be problematic if he didn't. I then tell him. "naruto, I wasn't asking you questions to make fun of you. I'm asking because you need to know this. I've heard you say you want to be the Hokage a 1000 times while in class. Do you know why they call the third Hokage the professor? It is because he knows every jutsu that exists in the world? But he wasn't born with that knowledge. He studied and read books he learned from the masters of their fields.

If someone were to cast an unknown Jutsu in front of him, he would be able to determine what element it will use and how powerful it will be. What it's going to do and where it's gonna go. he can do all of that because he mastered the basics. He learned everything he could, from where chakra comes from to how to make more and control it. If you want to be Hokage, then you have to be just as good if not better than him. That's just for the third Hokage. Each Hokage has their own individual field of study. The first was a master of the sage arts, which allowed him to use the chakra that naturally flows in the air. The second was a master of water; he could create oceans out of thin air. And the fourth was a seal master plus a Jutsu creator."

I take a deep breath and look at Naruto. His head is still down. He's even shaking a little bit. I decided to try to encourage him a little. "naruto, have you ever read or listened to anything about the fourth Hokage." he shook his head no. "ok, from what I know from lectures to history books, the fourth Hokage was an orphan of the Village just like you, he went through the Academy just like we are. Then, during the war, his name became world-renowned, and he became the apprentice of another famous orphan. You might not know this name, but I'm sure everyone else will. His name was Jiraya, the great toad sage; just like the fourth, he was an orphan of unknown origin and didn't have that good of formal training. Still, he ended up mastering something super rare: the sage arts, just like the first Hokage, and even the fourth couldn't do that. So tell me, Naruto, if people rise from being no-name orphans to being at the top of the world. Then, so can you, and then there's something else about you that you just don't know about, which makes you even more special." I leave off vaguely.

When I started talking about the fourth Hokage and Jiraya both being orphans and growing to such great power, his head slowly rose with stars in his eyes. And when I told him that there was something special about him that he didn't know, I saw his eyes grow with curiosity and excitement to know what it was. I came up with a great idea. I said, "Well, I could tell you. But it is public knowledge, and it's really easy to look up. All you would have to do is go to the library and look up books on your last name."

When I told him he had to read, he looked like a kicked puppy. He then begged me to tell him and that he would do anything to know. I let out a little sigh and said sure, but I will take that promise for a later date. He instantly perks up, practically begging me to tell him already. I said, "The Uzumaki are a well-known founding member of this Village. The first Hokage wife was a Uzumaki. The Uzumaki Were a Very prolific clan, but I hate to say they no longer exist. The clan that is, but the bloodline still lives on in you. And I don't know this for sure, but there should be others out there somewhere. I think most people would say you don't really resemble an Uzumaki, and that is true because the most obvious way to determine an Uzumaki is their red hair, but the second, which I'm pretty sure you have down to a T. is there very robust very dense chakra pool meaning you have more chakra than ordinary people but that's just the public basic knowledge. More hidden stuff could be found out that you could find or claim it. Since technically, by blood and the law, you are the Village's last member of the clan. There is one other person who could probably claim it, but from what I know, they do not currently live in the Village.

At the mention of his clan being a founding member, his eyes lit up, but learning they no longer exist. Dimmed his eyes a little bit. But the mention that there might be others of his clan out there, still living somewhere, brought the light back to his eyes again. and the best way to identify if someone is part of his clan gives him something to look out for in the future, and finally when I said that there is a person close in relationship to him that can claim the same clan as him. I could tell he wanted to ask me 1000 questions, but I held up my hand and explained that was all I knew.

"the only member of your clan I know of is the last living heir of the Senju clan. That would be Tsunade Senju, the Slug Princess. She is the granddaughter of the first Hokage. I don't know her exact relationship to you, but the best I could guess would be she's your grandmother to great-grandmother, but most likely, she's your cousin or great-cousin once or twice removed. It really depends on your lineage from the Uzumaki clan. If I remember correctly, she should be a direct descendant of the head family, but that's all I know. And the only person who might know more is the Hokage."

At the mention of the Hokage might know more, Naruto looks like he's about to Sprint out the door, but I grab him by the collar and, pull him back into the seat, and give him one warning. "the Hokage might not tell you anything naruto at least until you're strong enough to keep that secret. Meaning you might have to become a chunin or a jounin before getting the information you want, so if you go and ask, I can almost guarantee you he's not gonna tell you anything." he looks depressed again upon hearing that.

A little after our conversation, the rest of the class came in and started going through the basics of ninjutsu and genjutsu. There was nothing practical, just more theory. It was a very boring class.
