CHAPTER 1

Clang! Clang! Clang!

The chains made loud sounds as the person bound to them moved around.

Ella raised her head. Her hair was oily and dirty. her face, hands, legs, everywhere wounds could be found. Some were new while some old. However, it still could not suppress her aura, an aura that was born to rule.

Her skin was pale as if she had not been under the sun for years, she was so thin that even the veins under her skin were visible but even with all of that it was possible to see that she had been a great beauty before.

The only source of light in the room-it was more like a cell-was the bulb hanging from the ceiling. The room had a bad odor with the smell of blood and dirt as if it has not been cleaned in ages.

Clack! Clack! Clack!

The sound of heels against the ground produced a distinct sound.

Soon the metal door-the only way out of the cell-opened.

A woman around 20 years old covered in the finest quality clothes and expensive jewelry entered.

She looked down at the woman kneeling on the ground with smugness.

Ella had to raise her head to be able to see her.

"Hmph! What are you doing here," Ella showed obvious disdain "Shouldn't you be in your lavish mansion living your dream life, or maybe you encountered a problem in your business and need me to solve it, after all, it's me who worked to make the business as big as it is, with your pig brain it's a wonder people have not caught you after all you only know how to take other people's credit."

The woman-Evelyn-her brain supplied, showed poorly concealed agitation on her face before she calmed down, 'Huh! Evelyn still did not like people to point out the obvious.'

"So what! Even if you are the one who worked for it, I am the one enjoying it. Moreover, everyone thinks I, the genius daughter of the Whatson family, made the family business reach new heights."

"Illegitimate daughter" Ella snarked back.

Evelyn sneered "But no one remembers that do they, they even think of you the legitimate daughter to be the stain of the Whatson family." Evelyn smugly continued "Moreover, it's my mother who is sitting on the seat of the legitimate wife as for your mother." She sneered.

"Ha! Isn't that the only reason I have worked like a dog for this family, all because your family has captured my mother and used her as a hostage against me."

"You finally made me remember the purpose of my visit; I am finally here to take you to your mother."

Ella frowned, 'it wouldn't be so simple, otherwise, I wouldn't be locked in here for a year'

Evelyn slowly took out her hand from behind her back which was holding a knife.

Ella's eyes widened in realisation.

"Go join your mother in the underworld. You stupid Ella, we had already killed your mother more than a decade ago. We were lying to you when we said that if you followed us we would release her."

'I knew that they had likely killed my mother long ago, but I did not find any evidence thus, held on hope that mother would still be alive' Ella closed her eyes 'But I guess I can still see her again after dying' She snapped her eyes open.

"You will get your retribution Evelyn mark my words if I were to die here I'll definitely come back as a ghost to haunt you, you'll never get a peaceful life. Now that you don't have my weakness my 'mother' no one can stop me."

"Ill be waiting for you" saying that Evelyn stabbed Ella in the heart.
