1 Start of the Calamity

' Where- where am I?'

His eyes flutter open and a sudden pain flooded his head. A man in his late 20s stood in the pitch-black room. His eyes flicker as he glances around. Nothing made any sense. His clothes were torn and ripped at every edge, barely covering him at all. It looked as if he was burned alive. Aware of his surroundings, he finally got up and walked around. Nothing but darkness.

What had he been doing before any of this? He tried to remember-- remember anything but he was grasping at straws. His body felt heavier and heavier as he continued to walk.

'No' he realized. Something was pulling him down. He was sinking into the pitch-black liquid.

" Shit! What the hell is this?" He tried to kick it but only sank further in the liquid. His face boiled with anger as it reached his thigh. At this rate, he was going to die.

' Wait, am I even alive?' He couldn't even answer that question. He had no memory of anything, not even his name. Then a majestic voice rang out in the space, dominating over everything. The sudden rise of the liquid came to a halt at the man's torso.

" How lucky of you to be chosen by-"

" Cut the crap. Tell me where the hell am I?" He cut off the voice in a fit of anger. His rage and emotions overflowed to the brim. 'Somethings wrong' he worried to himself. He- he was in the middle of something before, he just couldn't remember what.

Suddenly, a light formed in front of him. Gradually, the light took the form of a young boy no older than 12. The man wanted to punch the boy but even if the liquid stopped rising, it didn't stop it from holding him in place. He couldn't move his legs.

The boy had light blond hair, almost as if it was light itself. His clothes were different, nothing of this world. It was too exotic. His eyes, however, sent shivers down every spine. Despite his smile, his eyes weren't open at all. Yet he could see everything going on inside that room. Strange enough, standing in the same situation as the man, the liquid seemed to react to the boy, as if it was afraid. Not a drop of black liquid was on him.

" What the... No, just answer me, brat. Where the hell are we?" The man yelled, voicing his thoughts. He desperately struggles to get free but it was no good. The boy looked at him before taking a deep breath and put on a smile.

" I understand that would be the normal reaction for humans," The boy paused, causing tension to fill the space.

"However, it's really," The boy smiled, showing the man full view of his grotesque teeth. " Annoying." The boy's eyes glittered in amusement. His eyes opened ever so slightly.

"Hah?"

Although the boy had a smile on his face, his eyes were dead cold. Something changed.

The pain burned onto the man. He wanted to yell, scream, protest. Anything but his body wouldn't cooperate with his mind. His body trembled on instinct like he was used to it. He started to burning and it showed no sign of stopping. Everywhere on his body, his skin was letting out steam. With each second his body burned hotter and hotter.

Desperate, the man cried out in pain, falling to his knees and unconsciously reaching out for the boy. He opened his mouth again, wanting to be released from the pain. A pool of blood flooded from his mouth, mixing within the black fluid. Every inch of his body screamed in anguish. It was intolerable.

' What is this.... blood? Where...no....from me?' He couldn't wrap his head around it. What he knew for sure was that this was pain worst than death itself. The man kept gulping for air as if it would help him.

" Pathetic," the boy squatted onto his knees, staring at the guy in agony. " To think this was the one who started the calamity." he spat to the man. He didn't lookup. Hell, he could bearly open his eyes. He couldn't die now, he had something he needed to finish.

The boy reached out and placed a finger onto the man's forehead. It wasn't until a cool wave of air washed through his body that the man's breathing calmed. His hands clung to his face, then his body, then his legs. The man's body went back to normal. No more pain, no more burns. The boy turned and walked away.

" Now let's continue." Baffled, the man complied.

" What- what are-"

" Ah, I haven't introduced myself did I." It was his turn to cut off the man." I'm the creator of this space. The space between life and death. In other words, God." The boy smirked lightly at the man, concealing his true nature, but the guy didn't pay consideration. More so, he couldn't.

' Am I dead? But this is the space between life and death so I can't be dead but then...' His thoughts trailed off.

" Ah, but don't get me wrong. After being alive for so long you tend to grow a little bored. So I thought I should intervene. In the future you seem to lead a wretched and miserable life and how could I, a God, watch my devoted supporters be torn to pieces."

" As for your memories,-"

" Give them back." the man said in a scowl. His appearance turned sour.

" Are you sure? I'm giving you the chance to turn back 10 years. And in those 10 years, all you did was suffer.

" Give them back!" He shouted. The God thought for a second, then a smile brewed onto his face. His eyes slightly opening, flashing a clear blue. At that moment, the man had undergone his whole life before his eyes. His birth, teenage years, and then, his death. The cruelty and devastating life.

' Ah that's right, I remember. I was going to find, I was trying to find my sister,'

" But yet the people you trusted to help you turned on you instead. Ane you never did find your sister did you." He said with a lively tone. He took his silence as a response and continued.

" Everybody has their deals of hardships which changes them. Although, you're more messed up than most people." A giggle escaping his lips.

The man gave a grimace expression but didn't say anything back. He couldn't. Everything he had said was true. He was looking for his sister. His only blood family left. But then the world changed. Demons and monsters were in the world. And if that wasn't enough, humans gained supernatural powers. A system, if you were lucky. Unfortunately, he wasn't.

Now a world filled with the more dangerous things and people with greed. He blindly followed people and swore to get revenge on the people who took who sister. He swore and yet, failed. Backstabbed, cruel, merciless. Anger didn't even begin to describe it.

" Oh, I almost forgot. Since you are still, well, technically from the future you have the system already. Think of it as my little gift. Even if it might be useless. So prepare for the next 3 years. And this time, don't die, entertain me Kaito."

'Useless?' But before he could ask anything, his vision fell into darkness.

" You didn't give him all his memories didn't you." A beautiful lady came up behind God, her arms crossed. She had an expression that couldn't be read.

" Nope. What fun will it be if I give him all the answers?" The God eagerly said, pulling his legs close.

The beautiful lady sighed, fed up with his attitude. " You could at least tell him. Tell him that everyone who follows you ends up dead. You, the God of revenge."
