After Kita decided on his future course of action, he quickly got up. He went towards one of the spare terminals and brought up the design schematics for a missile. It was the schematics for JR-1640 Fritzers. They were one the most widely used missiles in the whole Arcorn military. Also, the most widely available ones aboard the shore.
The Shore was predominantly a research vessel. With much of it's capacity dedicated to research purposes. It was also fitted with all the latest hardware to aid in research.
But that wasn't it's only function. The shore was fully capable of defending itself. The Aim was to be able to deploy on research missions deep within alien territory. No one really knew what to expect when in such unknown regions of space, so it was best to bring the teeth with it.
The Shore featured a set of 16 main turrets that could shoot out a variety of warheads. Along with many secondary and point defense options. It wasn't a ship that'd go down without a fight.
The JR-1640 Fritzers was one of the most popular warheads in the Arcorn military. It was known for it's speed. Once shot, it would go super-sonic in just a few moments and it'll keep increasing it's velocity until it reached the target. But one of the main feature of this missile class was it's interchangeable payload design.
Depending on the needs, the payload of the missile could be changed relatively easily. Which offered a perfect option for a tricky situation. But it also had some glaring downsides. Main of them being, it's really small payload capacity. Focusing on speed, it needed to be as light as possible. To that end, it sacrificed much of it's payload capacity in order to retain as much mobility as possible.
Compared to other missile models, it could only carry a fraction of the payload. But depending on the situation, this was still enough for many scenarios.
Kita chose this missile model to deliver his payload. He had mainly chosen it for it's speed. The small payload capacity didn't matter to him, as his payload was also really small.
"You just need to deliver this to the monolith.", Kita murmured to himself as he started at the projection of the missile in front of him.
He moved his hands and them called up a schematic of the interchangeable housing for the payload. He needed to figure out a way to store the anti-matter inside the chamber. Unlike normal matter, anti-matter needed to be kept suspended inside of an perfect vacuum.
Nothing could touch it. And it couldn't touch anything. After analyzing the payload chamber for a bit, Kita decided to design an external cage for the anti-matter storage device he created beforehand, it'd save him the time to transfer the anti-matter to another device. He could rig up the cage so that it would turn the storage off on impact, and that would get the anti-matter to react with it's surroundings.
It was a simple yet effective application for the Anti-matter. And it should have the intended effects.
As soon as Kita was done designing the external cage, he sent it to one of the fabs for fabrication. It was an automated process and didn't need any input from him.
Kita moved towards the other terminal to check up on the progress. It still going smoothly.
Kita was just about to sit down when he got the notification. His eyes and facial expression tensed up as soon as he checked the notification. It was from the Med-bay.
Kita looked around the lab one last time before quickly exiting it. He was headed towards the med-bay in a hurry with a tense expression on her face. As soon as a he exited the Lab however, a team of guards quickly surrounded him.
This alarmed Kita.
"Dr. Kita, we were tasked to take you to the Med bay as soon as you came out of the lab. This order was sent by Dr. Kbom. So please don't resist.", one of the guards who was clearly the leader among the bunch spoke up.
Apparently Dr. Kbom was so frustrated with Him that he had sent them to escort Kita to the Med bay.
Kita gave a small sigh as he understood their motives. Ever since he had started on his latest ventures. He was always on guard against any threats. What he was doing could be considered illegal if it was spun the right way. And it was also really dangerous. So he couldn't have anyone getting wind of it.
So when he understood why the guards surrounded him, he gave a small sigh of relief. He said in a calmed tone.
"Don't worry, I'm headed right there myself. You guys don't have to worry. I can go there by myself. You guys can go."
"We can't do that. We were ordered to escort you to the Med bay and make sure you attended the proper care.", The guard spoke in an absolute tone.
Kita understood there was no room for negotiation. So he decided to give up.
"Fine, let's go."
Kit was escorted to one of the vehicles that the guards used. Soon he arrived at the med bay. As soon as Kita entered the Med bay, he started walking towards a certain section.
"Dr. Kita it's this way." One of the guards spoke up.
"Don't worry. I won't run." Kita said. But he didn't stop or look back. He walked straight towards that section.
It was the section that handled the bodies of the deceased. They were done preparing Helen's body. So Kita came as soon as he had gotten the notification.
As soon as he entered through the doors. His eyes met with the attending clerk. The clerk knew who he was so he quickly nodded and started walking.
Kita began to follow him. There were many bodies in this section recently. Normally this department would be desolated. But the recent incidents had left them really busy.
The Clerk soon entered into a different room before looking at Kita and pointing towards one of the Cryo Pods. Kita didn't stop in his footsteps and walked straight towards the Pod.
As Kita approached the Pod, he could see the body inside it. It was frozen in stasis. Kita looked at Helen.
He caressed the glass ever so gently. His eyes were already soaking to the brim.
"You're still as Beautiful as the day I met you.", He said every so gently.
"You left me too soon. Damn it. You left me too soon.", Tears began to fall uncontrollably.
Kita stood there. Crying.
He felt an void inside that couldn't be filled no matter what. He didn't want to let go of her. He didn't want to let go of the memories they shared together. It all came to a sudden end. And there was nothing he could do about it.
He could only stand there, Hugging the Cryo pod as the tears kept falling without an end in sight.
