8 Ch 7 | Lightning Wolves

---Blue Mountain : early evening---

Thia ran through the dense vegetation, she was at the blue mountains foot in the forest to the west.

She had immediately set off after awakening and had ran for about an hour now, suddenly she stopped and activated her -silent mountain-spring step-.

'Oh?'

Then she dashed up one of the trees to get a better view.

Zu Bai and an elder sat cross-legged in a clearing not too far away from her, the elder's and Zu Bai's palms touched and both of them had their eyes closed they seemed to be in deep concentration.

Thia's lips curled into a smile, 'Interesting~', and disappeared soon after, not disturbing the scene.

---

The forest had made way now for rocky terrain and a few sprouts of grass and other herbs in between.

But she aimed for the top and it was a long way off.

'The route will be risky, but I have no choice!'

She suddenly dashed in another direction, going towards an unclimbable cliff face, but there was a small path inside this cliff.

Getting closer, Thia activated her silent step core again, even if it couldn't hide her from being seen it was better than nothing.

The entrance of the path was a frequently visited place by lightning wolves and without any offensive or defensive cores, Thia would be shredded to pieces in a flash.

But she had no choice, either enter through here or by the time she reached the peak, it would be nightfall.

Luckily the wolves weren't that active during the evening hours, they would start their hunt at night, so the majority of the pack lazed around and slept.

This would make it relatively easy for her to slip by, she nimbly jumped behind cover rolled, and dashed whenever the wolves weren't looking.

When she was in the middle of transitioning to the next cover, she heard a loud shout behind her, determined to make it, she started to dash in the direction of the path, no care anymore for being stealthy, because she knew, the shout was meant to get the wolves on her heels.

She didn't even need to think about who would be her whistleblower, only her brother came to mind, a smile appeared on her face "hmm, I wonder how you managed to follow me!", she shouted.

No answer came, apparently, her brother wasn't as stupid as to give his position away to the wolves when they now were awake.

It didn't matter, she now had to somehow get rid of the wolves, she thought for a moment, as a flash of inspiration glinted across her eyes.

"Hehe~"

---

Yuan Fan was very nervous, but he knew of the heaven send opportunity he just received, actually he had just intended to search for a few herbs to sell them for aratra cores but to think that he would find his sister!

And even better, she was on her way to the lightning wolves!

'If this isn't an opportunity send from heaven, I don't know what else is!'

Though he had trouble following her, 'how can she be so fast? I might not make it in time to get the wolves on her!'

When he arrived at the wolves' resting place, he had lost track of his sister.

'Crap what do I do now? Just throw a stone at one of the wolves? That will only get me killed!'

He panicked and didn't know what to do, but then he saw her!

She was about to reach another cover, he had to be quick, 'no time to pick up and throw a stone!', so he shouted, hoping that the wolves would see her and not him.

Not even freezing for a second his sister changed her strategy immediately and started dashing away, as the wolves awoke from their slumber and saw her.

Half the group directly went after her, the others wanted to follow too, but the pack leader held them back, 'probably to protect the youths', he thought.

But then the pack leader gazed in his direction, Yuan Fan almost screamed out of fright.

He had to get away from here, fast!

---

Thia was in quite a pickle now, the wolves were significantly faster than her and would've soon caught up!

She knew she had to somehow get rid of them!

But there was nothing she could make use of, she could only run for now.

Even with all the odds stacked against her, she was calm, her soul was as still as a lake in a windless night.

As she ran, she searched her memories for something that could help her, anything however small.

Suddenly her pupils constricted, she remembered an interesting detail, of which she didn't think much of before!

'Hihi~ to think that today would be such a great day! I have to thank Yuan Fan for refreshing my memory!'

The wolves were following close behind, but as they suddenly turned around a corner, she was gone!

They had lost her and couldn't find her again, her scent just ended in a dead-end!

---

Yuan Fan had it pretty bad now, the pack leader was hunting him together with the other half of the pack!

He already reached the forest on the mountains foot.
